Please make sure you read up on turtles. They are quite solitary and you have to be very careful cohabiting tnem.

I’m gonna make one for my turtle. I bought a rabbit cage though because it was easier to set up (I’m lazy) and the birds peck my turtle and bully him. 😞 we also have stray cats in the neighborhood.

im surprised the turtles dont just climb up and over the chicken wire.. Sliders are very strong climbers

thought about setting up outdoor lighting, do they need it and how to set it up so the rain wont get to cords or lighting?? any ideas /thoughts on this? or maybe outdoors don't need it? tho in WINTER even if I'm just setting up a outdoor heat matt how do i set up the cords to not get wet by rain?as it would need extension cord etc. ps I'm thinking more for a water turtle

Nice. We had something similar in our backyard until the racoons came through and killed all our turtles.

how do you deal with rain and things

It's not a good film footage but if they are White Cloud mountain Minnows than I say that you should stop keeping fish... The white cloud mountain Minnows need currents (the stronger the better) and you haven't gotten any. I feel deeply sorry for your fish. 'Dude'.! These minnows, they live in 'STREAMS'!!!

Lovely pond and great way to keep the turtles healthy and happy. WARMING though, the turtles and predators can climb that wire fence!!!! You are better to replace the fence with smoother plastic or metal sheeting so the turtles can climb out, or even build a solid brick wall with an overhang on top.

The sun is making my turtle pond get very hot. Be careful. They are all almost blk.or some dark color. Heats up fast,especially if not in ground. Full sun is good on turtles. If they don't boil first. I don't eat turtle soup. Lol

They aren’t pets and are currently in real peril. Reproduction of Box Turtles is very iffy at best. When you take a Turtle out of the wild you are removing a breeding individual from possibly being able to add to the species. Box turtles don’t have huge ranges and may spend their whole lives within 2 square miles. When you move them it puts real stresses on them. Teach your kids not to pick them up. They will get warts (not really but if I thought that this wouldn’t keep them from picking them up because of this lie I will continue to perpetuate it).

These are feeder guppies aka mosquito fish, not minnows (fat head, rosy, or otherwise) but they do take relatively the same care if you treat them as pond fish.

I live in the UK, I have a Turtle pond, does anyone think it would be a good idea to build a shelter with heat bulbs in? I know they get their heat from the sun but I was thinking it will be ok for my Turtle to.use if it wishes & when it's not such a hot day. Also, if I do build it shall I take it out of the pond & put it in the shelter so it knows where it is if he wants to use it?
