Taking a Look at Filipino things in My House
I’m half-Filipino and was raised mostly American. I thought it might be interesting to show you what Filipino stuff I have in my household. But then I also thought it would be interesting to see what people online think is stuff that you might find in a Filipino household.
So I'm taking a look at what you might find in other Filipino household and showing you what Filipino stuff I have in mine.
What good stuff am I missing?

I've seen a wide range of comments on what makes a person a "Filipino." Some say it is citizenship along with knowing the culture and language. Others say it is the "one-drop rule" as long as you have at least one drop of Filipino blood, you are Filipino. Others say it is something in between. In my view, part of the disparity in these types of comments comes from the difficulty associated with...

Answering the question: "Am I Filipino Enough?"

I once Googled "Do I count as Filipino?" (well, actually I had a typo and Googled "Do I count as Filipion"). I was surprised to find that many people were asking this same type of question, but without the typo. So in this episode of the Part Filipino Podcast, I am looking at some of these questions from Reddit and the responses. #filipino #filipinoamerican #filam #philippines #mixedrace #filip...

The Part Filipino Podcast: Introduction
Filipino is not actually a race its a feeling. Feeling of belongingness. If you look at Filipino in general, ite a mix race from different culture around the world.
I'm 50% German and 50% Shepherd... so a 100% german Shepherd.😅
In youtube they say theyre filipino but in real life they hide the filipino side. Ive seen more than enough half full or part filipino that are not proud of their heritage. Many filipino in the west are embarrassed and or just dont think of themselves as filipino
Seeking for that greener pasture caused Filipino Diaspora.
Your mother's family belong to landed family. I can say they are well off.
I'm interested to know your viewpoint as half Pinoy born in the Philippines but raised in America. Some Filipinas teach their children, Tagalog or Visayan language, others don't. So there are some half Pinoys or bad Pinoys based on your definition, who don't have an idea what it means to be a Filipino or how to mingle with Pinoys. This interest in Filipinos is rather new. Thanks to social media.
I agree with your definitions. But for me whether you have Filipino blood or a foreigner, if you love to be associated with us, you are more Filipino than those uprooted Filipinos who are ashamed to identify themselves as Pinoy.
Leland, you ARE Filipino. May I suggest that you start learning Tagalog, at the very least. This actually strengthens or even arms you coz it adds more proof that you are Filipino, on top of the fact that document wise, you have all the evidence that you are Filipino. Filipinos in general, having found out that someone has Filipino blood, half or not, accept that person as Filipino. Please do check the channel “Amerikanang Hilaw”, Eunice, who is so white, lives in the Philippines and is treated as a Filipina, because she is. An older celebrity in the Philippines, the “Asias Queen of Songs” named Pilita Corrales, is so white yet is treated as a Filipina, coz she is one. Anne Curtis, really white, another Half Filipina, actress, singer in the Philippines, again is treated as a Filipino, because she is. Hope you got my point.
Why should you? That is the truth.
I was classified as 98% Filipino. So now the Filipino is a race.
How much it cost for DNA test pare?
Not to offend your mom, but it's only 20 percent Muslim even before. And the Spaniards was having a hard time conquering the south part of the philippines and never conquered the south.
I’m mixed Filipino too and I totally understand the sigh of relief when everything added up to 50%. Blood quantum as a measure of identity was forced on us and countless other peoples during the colonial period. Luckily, our ancestors knew that our cultures aren’t defined by an outside system telling us who we should be. Salamat and agyamanak for making these videos for all of us!
good content. keep it up. am a new fan. i just subscribed.
weird. not even knowing ahead. i am having champorado as i am watching this....crazy
The important is we still all brothers and sisters in this world
CONGRATS......You come from a country of WELCOMING and SMILES..
Who's here looking forward to a part 2 or more? ❤
That's nice, 50-50 !! How kool is that?
I grew up in the PH eating haw flakes.
I love guyabano. If you get a chance, try it fresh. It also has a lot of nutritional benefits could be a super food. Aka soursop or if you are familiar w I think Mexican/latin American produce, they call it guanabana
I haven’t tried a fresh one yet, so I will be on the lookout.
Your mother side comes from a very prominent well connected Filipino families of Chinese descent.
Congratulation brother you are now a certified Pinoy...👍🤗🤗
I did an ancestry dna test. I’m Filipino, my region came out as 97% central and southern Philippines. 1 % came from Central and eastern China. 1% Sephardic Jew, 1% Southern Italy and the Eastern Mediterranean. My mom told me that my grandfather was part Spanish and my grandmother part Chinese.
My 2 Grandnieces and 1 Grandnephew are also 1/4 Filipino and unless they tell you you can not tell they have Southeast Asian ancestry. They look typical Northern European with very pale skin and they have Bright Blue, Gray and Dark Blue EYES. They are growing up around their Filipino GrandUncles and Grandmothers (Americans though, lol) so they are not Cut-Off from their Filipino Heritage.
Being a filipino is a decision.
No way
These tests are not very accurate for South East Asians. It's mostly accurate for Northern and North East Asians. I did 2 of these DNA tests from 2 different companies. It kept giving me 80% chinese but I can trace my Filipino heritage as early as 1700s.
My Heritage is not very good when it comes to their Asian sample size. 23andme was more accurate for me.
👍😎👍
We are actually from planet nimbus,,and yes we are alien in this planet
Yes kabayan, you are 100% correct that the Philippines is the first country to be considered as the melting pot of all races in the world. Because in our history our country is the center of commerce of Asia, South East Asia, Europe and Middle East countries.
I don’t have to tell you, you’re half pinoy. I can see it in your eyes!😂 no joke!
Central asia Chinese means Austronesian today call it china but not china territory before because many kingdom in china until Mongolia invasion in china
Just say you are Mexican that doesn't speak Spanish. I thought you were Mexican when I saw you.
I know the area Pasig Line, I from Paco, Manila (Fabie St., Herran) now Pedro Gil.
Ancestry is generally more accurate when it comes to dna testing
Filipino-American from Honolulu, Hawaii USA. There's a BYU campus in Laiea, Hawaii(Oahu)😊👍
That’s where my parents met…BYUH!
She’s more like Hailee Steinfeld. She’s also proud part Filipino.
HONESTLY, U DONT ADD ALL. WUT EVER THE HIGHEST % THAT SHOULD BE THE RESULT. CUS UR NOT LOOKSLIKE FILIPINO AND JUST SMALL % AS I SAID 25%. IM RIGHT CLOSE TO 23%.
Lol, did you have a stroke as you were typing this? What the hell are you even trying to say?
REAL TALK... 25 FIL.
Haller 1/4 Kabayan, your content is very interesting and I enjoyed the fun story about your daughter on the Pinoy culture...your new 100% Filipino in Toronto.
the truth is people around the world has filipino origin. if you know adam and eve from the holy scripture, well both of them are filipinos
Lol, what are you smoking? If Adam and Eve were real, they would've been Middle Eastern because the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, which flow through Mesopotamia, are mentioned in the Bible as being near the Garden of Eden.
@noelramirez1551 the real river is in the philippines. those rivers in the middle east that was named after the bible where not the real rivers.
@@thetruemessiah1988 LOL, no. If the Garden of Eden ever existed, it's in the Middle East because that was the cradle of civilization.... Man, Filipinos are in complete denial and have an identity crisis. You guys want to be everything but Asian, and now you guys are claiming to be the first people in existence.... Lol, that's a new one! 😂
My Addition was 54 % = 23 T 13 T 8
I love that your family are doing this together in that one room. Very Filipino. My son is Full Filipino but on your description, Good Filipino? He is born here in the US but showed him Filipino culture and he is brought up with Filipino values even if he cant speak Tagalog. Also, I suggest watching the 3 episode of “The Filipino Story” here in YT. If you find yourself a bit on those 3 videos, then you may pinpoint in your life the “invisibly Filipino” in you. Cheers
I'm glad to know that your daughter is proud of her Filipino heritage. Hope the whole family visits the Philippines soon and renews ties with Filipino relatives! God bless!
Had to skip and finally not watch due to motion sickness from her swaying back and forth.
One rule of thumb in pronouncing/reading Tagalog or Filipino word is to syllabicate the word. Example- Sam pa look . Prounounce all the syllables. Group the syllables by a combination of consonants and vowels together and there are no long vowels.
Cocoa Samoa???? It's champurado!
At the end of the day your a halo halo all mixed up
