A lovely evening to be on the kayak, especially with the Mrs. Mackerel and Pollock dominated the session and even a large spider crab was picked up on the way in (but sadly not on video!). Keeping it nice and simple with feathers throughout for some easy fishing fun. I will definitely take this mark a step further in the coming weeks and through in some bigger lures. Enjoy the video!

The blue dennet supersprats are just bonkers. I’ve got one of the smaller ones that I use for finding the pollock shoals when I turn up because it catches all sizes of them. That thing has caught me 40 fish easily and the paint is all chipped off but it still works😂. The hooks have been bent and re bent back into to shape I don’t know how many times but I’ve had that lure for like 2 years now. I had a bigger blue supersprat and lost it when an absolute monster of a fish took it into the weeds when I was (foolishly) using a lighter rod thinking I wouldn’t get anything big. Another great lure especially when fishing is tough are marinorsilda lures. They’re a Norwegian brand Marinor, and can be quite hard to get your hands on I know a guy who orders them in so I have a stock😂.

Just caught your video excuse the pun, really enjoyed watching it. I like your attitude on not needing expensive gear, I changed for cheap soft action rods for more expensive ones but sometimes go back to them and usually end up catching more with them, it must be the soft action that they have making the fish feel less tension on the line. Spin fished there myself this year both left and right of the bay, but blanked and lost a few lures. Mate has a few pollack by spear fishing there. I think the rubbish summer we had this year has had a lot to do with it. Had a few bass off Newgale sea fishing early on in the season then really struggled through the summer to catch anything was unusual as we normally pick up a few bass off newgale at night. County sports have done well out me this year. They need to stock up on their lures now. 😂

Good question! Is you’re feathering, what size hooks are you using and what type of feather? If jigging, try move through the whole of the channel, from top to bottom of the water then repeat! For bass, they’re far less common, so it’s being in the right place at the right time!

I have fished that area quite a few times! Razors are usually on sheltered beaches, I’m not sure if you would get that at Rhossili. You may get them around the sides of the beach, or, at a very low time. I’d suggest going on a very big tide when the tide is out all the way and trying it then.

You can make one pretty easy, any tube that’s round enough, open on one end. Push down around the clan, twist pull up. I made one that has a plunger type of deal on the top so I can make sure I get enough suction. You can retrofit a bicycle pump for razor clams, works great.
