Demonstration of easy twinning for shear on 111 planes in FCC and that twinning is not possible for 0001 planes in HCP - both close-packed planes. Easy martensitic shear is possible transforming from FCC to HCP and vice versa. The HCP martensitic structure that is created in the FCC phase by the shear on every other plane is known as epsilon martensite in steels.
