I was playing this game today on switch after originally playing it on Wii back in the day and as i was playing i was noticing he was doing things that differently depending on what was happening and i was trying to figure out if this game has more Tech than i thought and sure enough it does did you know that the Ecstasy meter ties into how many hits Travis dishes out in a combo it works kinda like the heat system from Yakuza the better you perform in combat the better travis just gets over all when you take damage the meter will then deplete and limiting your combos again

This is late but another thing I discovered is that your invincible during weapon switch meaning you can use it to block unblockable attacks while also switching to a chargeed weapon.

this is absolutely wild information and for as long as this game has been out, I’m shocked this isn’t more common knowledge. it’s certainly my first time hearing about a lot of it, even after 100%ing the game and actively trying to look up the more obscure mechanics like parrying that the game never informs you of. thanks so much for this video, it was super entertaining as well

My friend, you may not believe this, but your video was what inspired me to buy NMH2. Before watching this, I was just gonna skip 2 and move on to NMH3. But the cool combo opportunities you’ve demonstrated really inspired me to take a crack at it! And what do you know, the game really impressed me to the point where I actually prefer the combat in 2 as opposed to 1! I still have a couple issues with the game in terms of story, continuity, and level design, but I’m still very glad I gave it a play through! Also the music is so gas it’s not even funny.

Ive actually beaten this game, the only boss I was having trouble with was the one boss with the mech arms while I was playing as henry. 2 bosses actually, I really should play this again, ive played it when I was little and the game was just good as hell.

This was my favorite part of the tutorial explaining this and coming back to life if you are quick enough with the taps

exactly my favorite infinite combo in the game is Heavy, Heavy, Kick (should be the jump spin kick) then huge slash (a and x) and then light light light llight light then either back to heavy attacks or do a another huge slash and repeat the start

I really love this video, I wish it was more common knowledge that these techs were in the game. I remember dark-stepping in NMH1 and being so confused because the game never taught it to you.

So I guess the reason people say Jasper Batt 2nd phase is so hard is not because he's impossible to no damage, but because the game never requires you to parry unblockables in ANY fight before him, and he flat out requires it.

On the real though. I'm very grateful that an advanced mechanics video for this game came out. Thank you sir.

I like the mechanics and I like that you posted a video talking about them but the way you talk as if they're obvious is hilarious. Yours is literally the only source on NMS2 deep combat mechanics pretty much on the whole internet.

Man it's so crazy how there's stuff like this in No More Heroes 1 and 2 but after all these years almost nobody has made a comprehensive guide about it. The game itself doesn't tell you you can do this, just about everyone missed it and assumed it was a random thing and never tried to recreate it. I only just noticed there was more to it when I noticed a I did a move that I had no clue how to do again.

I'm so glad that someone else has figured this out. The timing is a bit harder than in the first one for sure but there are definitely more options for combat. Thank you for pointing out the Tsubaki juggle too, I thought I was just crazy lol

Also, in nmh2 it is important to remain stationary while blocking to perform a darkstep. For some reason, darkstep will not activate in 2 if the left stick is active. To consistently darkstep in 2, keep left stick still and perform a dodge after blocking while holding down ZL the whole time.

Thanks for uploading this. Really hate the shit talk nmh2 gets. still a fun game. Im aware of its flaws but enjoyed its progression, not being an empty open world in the first (didnt enjoy it much ino), different weapons, and few other stuff.
