[Neurofables #1] "Left Brained or Right Brained"
New series on some fables, misconceptions or pseudoscientific claims in neuroscience.
For the first entry in the series, I discuss the idea of people being "left brained" or "right brained". I see it quite a lot, magazines at the store, word of mouth from people using facebook as their source and even university textbooks.
I do this also to maintain my learnings, even if I'm not in this field I can keep my knowledge fresh and be a lifelong learner!

Something a bit different, always wanted to make a speedpaint :) It was difficult to decide if the blue or green lighting looks better but ultimately I chose green, though I can always change the hue. I used GIMP (macOS) and a wacom intuos pen & touch small. Initially this was going to be drawn and recorded on my other computer with Debian but alas, catastrophe occured..

So interesting. amazing how much we have progressed in the last 150 years, but at the same time I can appreciate and see the beauty in these professors as well. Would love to dive into more of these some day!
Hey late reply here, yeah! It's awesome reading how people thought, the language/terminology they used and how things changed. It's very easy to judge how people thought but we should always consider the historical context and technological limitations that they faced :)

Interesting topic and very well explained! great use of sources as well. I think that in the coming decades these chatbots will improve and will probably feel even more real than they already do. On the one hand it is of course great for the people feeling lonely and craving social connection, but in my opinion this might be a short term solution with some very detrimental long term effects. Someone could potentially create his or her own entire environment of people in a virtual world and lose their connection with reality. On the other hand, if it is used as an additional space it could be great, and many amazing possibilities are possible such as talking with celebrities and historical historical figures like this video: ruclips.net/video/MxTWLm9vT_o/видео.html . Either way, I think you are doing good by raising awareness on this topic. A lot of thinking still needs to be done and the future is coming at us very fast.
Thanks for your comment and I definitely agree! The effects of chatbots or personal use AI depends on how it's used and the degree to which is used, moderation is key.

Amazing video, and great arguments too. Most people think that this is centuries or millenniums away, but I think that this could be possible in a couple of decades with the rise of AR glasses we are building right now. And we better have some good answers to these questions about what we want as individuals and a society before then.
