I mean I’m admittedly biased as hell and I just enjoy whining about any little detail I can to make myself feel better, but that phantom holding call is the moment where the momentum completely switched directions down the home stretch in a 20-13 national title game featuring the best offense vs the best defense and I truly feel like it could have become one of the truly greatest games of all time. My dad is 84 and doesn’t ask for much of anything from anyone but to actually be there with him to experience the chance for UDUb to be in the position they were in and to have that fucking ref poop on the entire planet with that fucking call I don’t honestly think I will ever be able to recover from haha.

They would call the holding call and the face mask on the player doing the holding would never get called cuz face mask penalties typically overwhelmingly only occur when committed against the ball carrier.

Haha touché on that one! About 4 margaritas deep when I made this and I wasn’t even looking at where the center was lined up I just quickly saw one guy to his left assumed that was the tackle when it’s fully just the tight end! 😂. But it still doesn’t change the fact #73 with the worlds most blatant holding call I’ve ever seen which directly led to that wide open running lane for #7. Take that score away and we have an entirely different football game going into the 4th quarter where even with that score upheld was only 20-13 with 11 minutes left when the worlds most phantom holding call on the long odunze throw was called which Michigan finally was able to extend their lead only after that moment in time on their next drive! Momentum in college football is huge, Michigan had it to start and Washington had em right where they wanted em heading down the home stretch. However the wind got taken outta their sails on the most ticky tacky of ways by the freaken ref! For that flag to be thrown while all the other jostling by both teams was not ever flagged just completely ruined what could have been a truly masterpiece football game!

You are wrong about the first play, the Michigan play. The O lineman is quite literally holding onto and grabbing the jersey of the UDUB defender which is the exact lane the Michigan tailback ran through on his way to the end zone. However the second point you made just as this video suggests that the holding call on UDUB was in fact complete ludicrous. Espically with the score being so close and the stakes so high its a shame that that very play was the start of the turning point where Michigan was able to pull away with a greater margin of victory than the game had suggested otherwise based solely on the play on the field.

No I’m not wrong about the first play. I explained this above and the fact you’re ignoring it tells me you don’t know what you’re talking about, or you’re so in the tank for Washington it just doesn’t matter what I say. The Washington defender lost leverage to the inside, he chose the inside the blocker took his outside shoulder. He was shielded off. If you played football you would know once you’re engaged as a blocker you can hold onto shoulder pads, or jersey. To keep a grip but if the player you are blocking pulls away you let go before visible jersey is shown to be pulled. The Washington defender tries to beat the blocker back thru the block. He never tries to disengage. That is not holding, watch every nfl game you will rarely ever see that call made. So yes from an objective perspective, the ref screwed up one call, which refs have been known to do from time to time….

It’s hilarious how Michigan fans want to convince the nation that the fact they literally cheated is somehow irrelevant to the season. The ones who claim “but we won the Big games without cheating!” Are especially funny. It’s not up for debate; Michigan unequivocally fucking cheated the entire first half of the season. This should, and probably will, get vacated.

I don’t think it’s jealousy or delusion. I think the game was thrown into the toilet with 11:40 left on the 4th quarter when you have the nations best offense finally gaining momentum for seemingly the first time the entire game for the refs to throw a flag for holding when the player literally did not commit any type of holding. It was only after that possession did Michigan start to creep away. It was a chickenshit call, and as fans we were robbed of a game that had all the makings of down to the wire last team with the ball wins on the last play on the biggest stage in the sport. Penix had a terrible night and I hate to still be whining about that holding call but I was at the game and watched an excited husky sideline erupt with energy and then way QB in the sport finally start hitting his stride with odunze and only 7 points separating the 2 squads. Instead we got a poop fest end of the game although the king interception run back was pretty sick to watch since I just enjoy big plays in big games, but Fackk! I still think Washington better than Michigan! But no doubt about it Michigan played big boy style football and defiantly were the better team that night!
