Can you please share git repo, if it exists.
Tks man. Very good. Whats tl you prefer? I3, bswm, etc...
What do you mean by “tl”? Looks like you asked about “wm”. I didn’t try i3, bswm yet. I started with suckless solutions (dwm, dmenu, st) because I liked their philosophy. And I’m still using it - it works perfectly for me and I don’t have time / reason to try something else yet. Just pick one popular to try, then you try something else if you don’t like it That’s the beauty of Linux - You have the power of choice :)
44:50 did you skip somehting? where did the .sh files come from?
Hi there, the .sh files are just for convenience . They were probably created in previous streams or maybe they were created when I didn’t record. Which .sh file do you want to know? I can share :)
Tysm for this
Welcome 😊
Can you do this in English again? Thanks a lot
Thanks for visiting @daviddavidson9137 yeah I’ve been extremely busy and cannot find time to do babysteps stream again (yet) but I’m still making my babysteps daily in real life every day. I hope you do the same too I’ll try to get back to this again soon. Any specific topic you’re interested in
If we have to do change event sync from mongo source to oracle/ mysql sink DB, using debezium mongo source connector, it generates sort of schemaless payload i.e. there is no Key change event and also the Value change event is pretty generic for schema(after part is json string, with mysql source after has proper json object schema) have you tried to propagate mongo to mysql with auto create table and evolve table? Any suggestions if Avro could help?
I’ve not had a chance to try out Mongodb Source connector yet. So I’m not sure. I guess you have to try it to know for sure. But I think if you just simply want to do cdc and replicate data from MongoDb to relational db like mysql, using Avro converter is not necessary to achieve that goal.
Thank you so much. 😊
You're welcome 😊
where is video#66? can't see it.
Thanks for visiting @hobbies.central. The #66 had some issue and I took it down. I’m restreaming it right now. ruclips.net/user/liveNFTp0CrznoU?feature=share
@@freedomcoder Thanks. These are very helpful.
Glad to hear that @hobbies.central. If you find these helpful, please help click like and subscribe :)
@@freedomcoder already subs.
can you pls share your linkedIn profile, if it's okay?
Hey I am getting to xsecurelock too. Do you manage to get the timeout feature work? So after timeout, screen would go to suspend. I tried setting XSECURELOCK_BLANK_DPMS_STATE=suspend without success.
Hey @Maxwell , yes I got screen saver timeout working with xsecurelock. I'm afk, otherwise I’d do a live video about this setup- probably tomorrow I’ll do it. I don’t set XSECURELOCK_BLANK_DPMS_STATE because I don’t use DPMS in my desktop setup. My setup is just xss-lock which calls external locker which is xsecurelock in this case. xss-lock supports dpms events so we can set xorg blanking setting with xset like “xset s 300 5”. xsecurelock README in GitHub has section talking about this setup. I hope this helps
Hey @tennisfreak312 - I've just recorded quick live video for setting this up - ruclips.net/user/liveYDnUVJOiyHs?feature=share - Hopefully it helps :) Enjoy
I believe it will be wiser to label your live feeds differently.
Thanks for watching and for your suggestion @ALPHA_B_91. My live stream is mainly to document my own learning / doing. I don’t know how long I’m gonna learn/do. I don’t expect anyone would watch these livestreams. So I normally re-name live stream to something that make more sense. In this case I forgot to rename it :). Btw, each livestream (no matter how long/short, no matter how much I’ve learnt/achieved) is considered a baby step forward. That’s why I name it BabyStep in case you wonder
@@freedomcoder It's great to hear that you're using your live stream as a way to document your own learning and progress. and that's completely understandable.
Thanks @ALPHA_B_91. My purpose is not only to document my progress, but also to commoditize/open source my knowledge :) so if anyone finds raw information useful, that’d be great. The only thing is these live stream is really raw - as raw as hidden gem - but if someone is keen on digging he/she might find something I just don’t have time yet to organize/record/edit into more useful, concise video form. But thanks again for visiting
@@freedomcoder To give the audience a sense of what to expect during the live stream, the title of the video might provide a description of what you plan to accomplish.

I've to follow your instruction and it's running well until 50%, after that is fail. (When I type pacstrap..........) it's error. Thanx for your help?
Hi Lupa Lagi, if you share the error you got, I'll try my best to help. RUclips comments is not best place for technical help/discussion. I've created a github repo for general Q&A. You can head to github.com/Freedom-Coder-RUclips-Community/general to start a Discussion - sharing the error, screenshot and other details. I'll try to help if I can.
You probably need to connect to the internet first. Worked for me.
I've spent the last 2 hours wondering why emojis were not working. 01:46:46 thank you for suggesting a simply reset to solve my problems :)
It’s a nice surprise knowing someone actually watched my live stream and found value from it. These live streams are part of my freedom journey in which I’d share everything I know / real learning and struggles along the way. You’re welcome to join me on this journey.
a good manual, thanks, like🤝🏻
Thanks man, i was having problems but u do it all clean
No problem Katsuya Ghost. Always happy to hear my videos help.
Straight to the point, thanks!
I tried that and it said its not resognised as an inter or external command
Hi Ravi, I noticed this issue with archlinux-2022.01.01-x86_64.iso but it got fixed in archlinux-2022.02.01-x86_64.iso. You should download and use latest version iso file for new installment. I’ve not tried with latest version so not sure if this issue happens again or not. Which version do you use?
@@freedomcoder I actually found a better solution, type exit in the UEFI shell, then it will prompt you to choice page, from there you select Boot Manager, then 2nd option, then done
@@freedomcoder I got it noticed from 2022.07.01
also im gonna hold off on installing arch for rn I want to get a thinkpad first since the laptop im using is pretty old
Hi Ravi, I’ve just had time to try this out. Unfortunately I cannot reproduce it. I’m able to boot up archlinux-2022.07.01-x86_64 just fine. The only thing is my VirtualBox was updated recently and it’s latest version 6.1.36 r152435. I don’t know if it makes any difference or not. Also I followed the instructions of installing Arch Linux in my other video ruclips.net/video/iZ1tbwAyQqc/видео.html Thanks for suggesting an alternative way though.
Thank you very much, great video
Thanks You, works.
Very helpful
Hi. My dwm won't start up after this. Should it be at the end of .xinitrc?
Hi @Dictatorship, thanks for watching. What is it at the end of .xinitrc that you're asking about? Do you mean the "while" loop? If you're asking about the "while" loop then no, it's close to the end, but not at the end. The end line should be "exec dwm" and the while loop should be above that last line. In the video description, I added a link to the complementary write up which has an example. Please check it out.
@@freedomcoder hi man. Thanks for your reply. I have sorted things out and it turned out that it wouldn't startup because of a typo. Nice.
How do you know the -output name to write under # display resolution ?
hi Wally Wall, I assume that you're referring to the setting line "xrandr --output ..." that you see in the video. First let me clarify, that line is not needed in the context of this video. You only need to configure the "while ..." loop. In fact, I commented out the xrandr line (line with character # in front is commented out). Back to you question, you can use either xrandr or xdpyinfo commands to check your screens resolution e.g. $ xrandr or $ sudo pacman -S xdpyinfo $ xdpyinfo | grep dimensions For VirtualBox setup as in my video, you can resize the VirtualBox window, which will change resolution accordingly. And it's handled by vboxservice. That's why I don't need that setting. I hope this helps
Thank you so much! Kept having issues when installing the grub and you fixed it!
I’m glad to hear that :)
Thank you for sharing this! Saved my time <3
I’m glad I could help :)

Hey, I am the subscriber I wanna ask if my knowledge about this sort of using linux is very little Could I make a beautiful system through your videos? I mean something like larbs of luke smith for example.
My English is not good enough so I found it defecalut to read the wikis
Hi there, I’ve been wondering who is my 1st subscriber. I’m glad that you find value from what I shared. Thanks for subscribing. Getting back to your question, short answer is Yes, eventually. If you follow my video as is, you’d get same result as I showed. But if you need to change something (e.g keyboard map, locale - I use US one), you’d have to understand what to change. But it should be easy (note: see my writeup along with the video - it may help) Some of the stuffs that I share are new to me too - I’ve just shared what I’ve learnt so that we all can get better. I’m curious what specific in Luke Smith setup that you’d like to achieve
@@freedomcoder I have a real problem I use 2 layouts mainly every day so I wanna make a keybind to switch between them like alt+shift in windows to switch between 2 languages
Changing keybindings you have to edit config.def.h file in "dwm" folder. If you follow along this video, it will be in "/opt/suckless/dwm". Have you watched my video about "Patching dwm" - ruclips.net/video/6WLCO9yJWMI/видео.html - I covered changing different layouts with shortcuts (keybindings)
It will be better if you explain what you do
