    Hmm, I would have thought a 'walkthrough' would have contained helpful information and stats. Such as what the PV array consisted of; watts / panel, series & parallel configuration. Additionally the same for the various MPPT, Inverters and Batteries. None of that, just a sales/marketing type video... Pitty, would have really liked to see how it was actually all wired together as it looks like a really nice clean system.

      @@SovakaKindred if we give all the finer details then unlicensed people will try and build their own.... which is illegal in Australia and can land us with legal liability. It only takes one incident to destroy the business and its not a risk we can afford. We do however build and sell these systems right across Australia.

    I ended up with a 10kw 2 legs of 3 phase output, 4pv input 12.3kw and 48kw of super safe Pb C, I only run 120v to the shore cord in the trailer and keep the max under 2700w only a 30amp cord, but adding a 240 plug to load 2 is easy if needed. I have my panels vertical for nonstick snowfall, then the rain washes them off. Pros like you could put 3x 8" posts and run 2 12 ft spans with 550w panels and one 3.3 kw fence 25ft long. Bi facial south facing vertical for me with 10% reflectivity around 60% of rated power when days are always sunny and 16hours long with low usage it's float charging from dawn, then in winter 105 days of overcast, but any sun than can get through with snow I had one 2.8 kw array make 3.4kw, much needed boost in Canda winter. Nice install, tidy, pro, and expandable. I was impressed to see an off grid starting with 30kw of storage, I always think that should be minimum, and seems you left enough room for 90 to 100kw very nice.

    It really depends on the panel’s design.. Many modern panel designs don’t have that problem.. those are old school panels or cheap Chinese designed

    • @DCI.Industries
      @DCI.Industries 5 месяцев назад

      These panels are modern Trina solar panels. Not cheap rubbish. The main issues is actually the MPPT capability of the charge controller more than the panel.

  • @randomx4289
    @randomx4289 5 месяцев назад

    Seems like a design flaw.

    • @DCI.Industries
      @DCI.Industries 5 месяцев назад

      The panel design is a pretty standard design layout for these types of charge controllers.

    Dust on the panels also significantly compromise harvest. This poses disadvantage in dry seasons when insolation is good which is expected to improve solar yield but unfortunately the dusty weather that accompanies the dry months invariably negates to some degree, the yield from improved solar insolation.

    • @DCI.Industries
      @DCI.Industries 5 месяцев назад

      Yes, dust can cause up to a 20% reduction in performance in more extreme examples. This test was simply to demonstrate the real world, measurable effects of shade on a system. You are right, keeping panels clean will improve their performance, but as you can see in this video, the shading is an even bigger issue.

  • @Mardols
    @Mardols 5 месяцев назад

    That doesnt make any sense. 1 panel was not even in shade and it was producing so low?

    • @intelle8950
      @intelle8950 5 месяцев назад

      The two panels were probably connected in series. If it were in parallel, only the panel in the shade will have compromised harvest. But with that significant compromise, it is likely the two panels are in series and will therefore behave like a single panel.

    • @DCI.Industries
      @DCI.Industries 5 месяцев назад

      They panels were connected in series. The test was to show the actual measurable effect of shade in a normal configuration. If the panels were installed in parallel, they would not have produced enough power to hit the turn on voltage of the charge controller.

    Hi Thanks for the lesson :) Q - Using 24 x 2v batteries .... go 24v or 48v? If the batteries (each) 120hr rate to 1.80 VP =1400 what is the max charge that can be put into them? What inverters do you rate highly, with reliability being high on the list? Thanks again!

    • @DCI.Industries
      @DCI.Industries 10 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the comment and apologies for the delayed reply. The max charge setting will be determined by the manufacturer's own data sheet. Depending on the chemistry type, the maximum charge voltage and duration will vary. Generally a 2v cell is charged at 2.25v. As far a inverters and charge controllers, I would suggest Victron for the type of batteries that you are talking about. Other than that, SMA or Selectronic for AC coupled systems.

    Good points. The average Australian drives 36.4klms per day. I charge my EV off Grid (technically) You don't require as much solar as you would think. Also I think we should focus on making public transport greener before personal transport. Electric Bicycles and motorbikes could solve a lot of personal transport issues.

    • @DCI.Industries
      @DCI.Industries Год назад

      Public transport and ebikes could work in the city but rural Australia is a whole other story. I also agree that 'average' travel per household is low... but sometimes you need to be able to make a couple of long trips back to back. This is where the current network isn't up to scratch for the mass roll out of EVs Electric vehicles are great in the right situations but we also need to find much more sustainable battery options.
