I'll have a go at anything, not always the proper way but I do try, take my videos as light humour and for entertainment only, the way I work on bikes or anything else may not be the correct way to do it as suggested by the manufacturer.
I usually have more fails than success but it keeps my mind and body working rather than sat in front of the tv playing the PS4

TRANSIT MK7 2.4 DIESEL - QUICK SMOKE BEHIND THE SHED
For some reason the van was smoking on start up, its never done that before, it cleared up after 5 mins.
When I was trying to start it I was pumping gas pedal several times which I dont normally do so could that be it?

dude, u can do it. just try not to overthink it. thats the only thing getting in your way doing it. theres lots of videos on plating here on youtube. do a bit of homework and u will see how easy it is.
@@brahmdempers1005 I might try again in the future
Nice Aprilia
don't blame you not changing that over - best to keep it simple, or at least until you have the rest up and running ha-ha. you'll be pleased with it, nice comfy bike.
doesn't look good does it jason, if anybody can bring the situation round it's you, keeping my fingers crossed.
unplug each injector and start the engine until the noise is gone, you could then swap injectors between cylinders and do the same test and see if the noise follows with the injector or if it stays in the same cylinder, if it follows it obviousy is the injector, if it stays in the same cylinder then it probably has a worn piston wrist pin or piston
@@viper4545 Ill try that thanks
slowly making progress and not panickiing like i would - you'll get there in the end.
@@iandouglas451 Ill just keep changing stuff until its sorted 👍
Hope you get it sorted. Hope it's not the dual mass flywheel. Had mine done on my focus cost a small fortune £800 although I suspect you will do it yourself.. 🤞
Injector seal possibly I had something similar on a Peugeot 2.0hdi I could smell diesel when the heaters were on and when you looked under the bonnet it was moist around the injector’s I purchased some of eBay and fitted them but I ended up taking them back out as they didn’t last I replaced them with OEM parts from Peugeot more expensive but not had a problem since 👍
hope you manage to get it soerted jason
@@iandouglas451 So do I 👍
the plot thickens...
'new' swingarm does look good as compared with the existing, just hope the old one comes out nicely.
Thank god for someone who knows how to use a choker
My preferred way is to sacrifice a torx bit by hammering it into the allen screw, gives a very firm grip.
In all my many years of fixing all things mechanical, I can honestly say that this is fooked.
Sounds like injector chuffing bad injector seal need to replace the seals or tighten bolts
I took my rocker cover off and yes you do have to remove the injectors to be able to get the cover off but I found 5 of my rocker arm rolers where sized up .. the rocker arms where cheap to buy new and easy to change
Melted a hole in the piston that has 100%
check the injector bolts, mine came loose and sounded like that.
That knocking sounds like it could be a timing chain tensioner.. That grey thing that's fallen off is microphone for hands free calling through the radio.. and I believe the slot in the dash is to hold business cards...
Ah! business cards of course lol
good luck with the remaining bolt.
Got it off ill be uploading again tonight
Cam chain
Is that what it sounds like? I thought cam chain was more of a rattle
You should always keep your thumb through the end of the lead. Trainers require this of the handler because if the dog ever bolts unexpectedly at a cat, squirrel, etc, you cannot lose your grip on the lead.
Be careful with that rear suspension rocker. When I did mine (because it seized up), it turned out that the centre part between the two bearings wasn't ground out straight!!! Basically, the rod was being pushed over to one side, so it was pressing onto one side of the two bearings. Thereby causing undue wear. A replacement solved my issue (once I'd made sure it wasn't a normal thing). I've kept my original though and I'll file or mill it out, so that it works correctly. Be careful with that rear shock, it's gas filled! Honestly, I can't remember if mine actually HAS a bump stop on it, I'm going to have to check now! lol The shock IS serviceable though, and frankly, I think it's better than the modern alternatives. The Maxton replacements don't have a much adjustability in them.
Yep I agree, I don't think that many bikers out there know that the Thunderace Front and Rear suspension is FULLY adjustable, Compression, Rebound and Damping :-)
@@jasonparker333 That's it! Compression, Rebound & Dampening... I could not for the life of me remember what the three were called! lol Check the aluminium can for corrosion (under where the bracket holds it to the bike). My original has a little divot which I'm thinking about getting welded up when I get it refurbed. Although it's failed, it's in better condition than the 2nd hand one I replaced it with. Annoyingly, I didn't realise it had failed till I repaired the seized swingarm (spent a couple of weeks squeaking and then locked solid! HARD TAIL!!!). Or should I say, didn't realise till I'd put it all back together again! rofl.
@@Snakebite1968 Will you do any videos? I love watching others do Thunderace stuff
@@jasonparker333 I doubt it. I've got less space than you and I'm quite damaged, so I don't get to do a great deal of my own spannering. Also, when I do, there's WAY more swearing than in your videos! lol
@Snakebite1968 yeah i try not to swear but it just hsppens
Dogs are looking good 👍
Yeah they are full on at moment, lots of exercise, playing etc.
Looking forward to seeing it completed.. 👍
on second thoughts, not sure about black painting the can itself jason if you don't mind me saying, might be wise to get that off with thinners if you want a look that will sell better in due course but just saying, no offence, just my opinion that's all.
Honestly I don't offended, I actually agree with you, I only painted it cos I was so bored lol, finishing work at 4pm doesn't give me long to do anything before it gets dark. I have actually another end can coming which I will be using, should be here today so ill show it when it arrives :-)
@@jasonparker333 phew! didn't want to fall out on that ha-ha.
always interesting, keep going!
You may struggle servicing and fixing the shock............ Maxton do a replacement (not cheap) but you can get a YSS shock as a direct replacement also.
To be honest, I think in the future I will do a full on resto with one of my Aces but this one is sort of getting a good proper full service, IE swingarm and wheel bearings, new headstock bearings, oil, filter, plug change a right clean then back together so I might just shove the rear shock back on (without the rubber bump stop) cos Ive never bottomed a rear shock
Nice work as always mate, exhaust looks like a Black Widow aftermarket replacement.
Cool, I'll get another end can for it
should be a lovely bike when completed - the 'ace is great value for money, a lot of bike and comfortable too.
I just want a bike that wont stop working when passing john o groats lol
@@jasonparker333 of course - if you think back, what are the things that have ever stopped you on a motorbike? fueling and electrics, generally speaking, give you prior warning, something is a bit 'off', with me it has been accidents, punctures, broken cables (clutch) and poor battery.
i'm surprised the rear undertray is still in one piece - most get cut down/off at the back.
Its actually broken in several places 😞
interesting to warch - admire the way you tolerate cold conditions
great stuff jason
good series, well done.
Used to enjoy pulling my bike to bits .. oh that good old day.. bikers shine their exhaust because it's on show.. car drivers no need unless it's that cheap custom 🐂💩 👍
I think i'm gonna paint it matt black :-)
Gorgeous GSD puppy! I know he's a big boy now. 😍
Thank you , yes he is 4 years old now and still my handsome boy, he doesn't leave my side but when he gets on the bed he squashes me and my wife, he is very heavy but I don't mind

My condolences Jason ...
Nowt a bit of TLC won't fix she will be a flyer
I'll get it running and riding soon
The bike has a self diagnosis mode built in. Connect the two wires under the seat and turn the ignition on, it will say diag on the dash followed by a number. 1 to 12. That will tell you if it's an electrical fault and exactly what the fault is.
That is good to know, I think in my case the issue was the battery. I did a deep charge and its been fine ever since 🙂
@jasonparker333 ok great. You might want to look at the AP performance starter upgrade kit for the future to prevent any issues again, upgraded cables, starter solenoid and battery. Makes a huge difference. Literally tap the button it starts first time.
@@adamauto1 Watched your video upgrading your using the kit :-)
how is 480p even possible anymore lmaoo
Out and about, good lad, thumbs up.
We will have to have a ride out before winter
Was this taken with the camera?
Congrats on the wedding.
On one note how many springs did you put in and on the 2nd lanrge friction plate did you replace the judder spring aswell as jy did not show in your video. My bike is creeping and wont go into Neutral when started. When i put her in 1st gear she moves forward by her self i have replaced the whole clutch basket and adjusted the cable to spec, and still the same problem.
To be honest I just followed the Workshop Manual, I replaced the 2 very large washers, one of these were flat the other was a domed shaped, then I re-installed the friction and steel plates in order then put in the new thrust bearing with washer then the clutch cover and then the clutch springs and torqued down
