One interesting turn her music took is that she wrote the music for the boy band in the Pixar movie Turning Red. I found it fascinating listening to the interpretation of the genre from someone who was born after those 90s bands were really popular. The parody is really funny as well.

I watched Cowboy Bebop in college because my best friend made me. I liked it enough that I named my first cat, Edd. I enjoyed the live action but I've learned how to appreciate how properties can be different and seen from a different perspective. I would've watched a second season if they had made one.

I agree with a lot of your assessments. I watched all of Star Wars in chronological order a few years ago. I got up to Bad Batch Season 3 episode 2. My earliest memory of Star Wars was being taken to a convention when I was 4 or 5 and being in a panel room with one of my parents. I was bored and started peeking under the pull out wall to see what was going on in the next room. I could see the Forest of Endor was playing on the screen and I insisted that someone take me over there to finish watching Return of the Jedi. My mom was a big fan, so I'd probably seen the movie a lot if I could recognize it that easily. I love a lot of the TV shows and the cartoons for the stories they try to tell. I especially liked Clone Wars and Rebels. As long as new Star Wars shows and movies focus on telling a story that needs to be heard, they will be more successful. I can proudly say I did not give you that gumball machine.

Awesome story. She’s so real. I’ve seen her 4 times, 3 with P and once solo a couple of weeks ago. The last time with P I was in the front row with my friend and she came off the stage at the end and personally thanked us for being there. Last time, solo, it was a tiny rehearsal gig and she hung out in the pub after and we talked about how nervous performing makes her. She’s just a real person who happens to be an all-time great musician and artist.

The strange thing about saying it is a singular piece of music is funny in that it is made up of songs written by different musicians, from their demos that they brought in to the sessions. But the Cure for certain are a cornerstone of Goth if you go back to 17 Seconds, Faith, and Pornography. Joy Division, Bauhaus, Siouxsie, The Cure, and SoM are the biggies in the goth pantheon of creating the sound of goth music. Other bands contribute certain things, Cocteau Twins create an element of etherealness for a mood for adding to goth music, IDC that they call it ethereal wave, it is ethereal goth music.

Lovesong is the blemish on the album for me. And it isn't necessarily that it is a pop song, I'd rather have the b-side 2 Late on the album. But there are other B-sides that fit the mood better, for sure. Fear of Ghosts probably is the closest but Babble would fit in there in a weird way... Emo came from Fugazi and the DC punk scene. It grew through Rites of Spring and evolved that direction but it took elements from goth at some point fashion-wise. Especially when you get to the My Chemical Romance, AFI era.
