Hi, can you please check your code once again. without bearer token you cannot access user. and you can't access the /user without logging in and without any token.

"localhost:8080/api/protected-data" - this is the 3rd endpoint to access the user specific data. you have to use bearer token in the authorization tab. how will the application know this endpoint for which user without token? it will extract a user from the token itself. it won't work if there is no valid token. please check in your application.

But You can implement security without roles using authorities, custom permissions, custom filters or other methods. you can define your own access control rules based on the application's needs and security model
