    What is even more tragic in this whole affair is to see how Germans are afraid to be critical towards Israel. It's as if they lost their whole identity. It's OK to disagree with certain actions, it's not a crime. But some of these people are elevating disagreements to criminal levels. I'm afraid to think that Slavoj was most likely misunderstood by at least 70% of the public. Taking one side against the other will not fix anything.

    The foundation of Israel was a very flawed affair and was never corrected. It should have been rectified immediately back n the late 40ies by the UN ! One cannot led things slide that way. If the foundation of a building is not resilient, then sooner or later it will collapse.... - Covering your ears, closing your eyes and singing lalala does not change the reality! If we want to solve the Palestine problem once and for all, Israel must shrink significantly and a state for the Palestinian Arabs must finally be established on at least 50% of its territory. 1850: 4% Jews, 1919: 10%, 1944: 32%. It was a real invasion of Jewish immigrants in a very short time, and even if the UN partition plan of 1947 had been implemented, Israel would have received 56% of the land, although the Jews were in the minority. But even worse, from 1948 they occupied 78% (!) of the land.... It should never have remained like that, but the UN did nothing.... Meanwhile, it is 88%... We all have an innate sense of fairness and justice. The state of perpetual crisis and war will remain unless fairness is finally allowed to prevail. It is a highly pathological situation that cannot be allowed to continue. It has had highly destructive effects on the entire world from the very beginning. The UN must finally intervene decisively: stop the willful ignorance, stop the unnecessary suffering. This prob This problem must be solved NOW. The obvious injustice of the situation pathologizes both Israelis and Palestinian Arabs. By the way- 'Benjamin Netanyahu' sounds exotic, doesn't it? His real name though is Benjamin Mileikowski, descendant of Polish Jews, who changed their name to appear more jewish. Pretty weird in my opinion

    Can anyone side with Palestine or Israel? Is it politically correct? Regarding the Palestinian-Israeli problem, many people had expressed their views on the side of Israel or Palestine. We believe that in considering the world geopolitics of this era, the real political problem is avoided by taking a side and expressing opinions. The first thing to say is that the killing of civilians in Palestine and Israel must be unconditionally opposed. But by illiberals siding with Israel and leftists siding with Palestine, we miss the real issue here. The main point to be raised here is that the armed and political organizations operating in the world today act as pawns in asymmetric warfare operations. Many powers (America, Israel, Russia, China) as well as medium-sized powers (Iran, Qatar, Saudi) are led by religious, nationalist and leftist organizations for their purposes. Here we have to emphasize that centralized party organizations and mass movements can no longer be used for the liberation politics of man. If anyone studies the activities of religious nationalist leftist organizations in the world during the last twenty years, you will be able to understand the problem here. The question that arises now is why such centralized parties and organizations, mass movements are no longer associated with political emancipation. After the 1980s, there was a revolutionary change in communication in the world, and that was the beginning of the use of mobile phones and the use of the Internet. This caused the human nature of man to change. On the other hand, consumerism has spread to every corner of the world through the use of mobile phones and internet. Through this, individualism developed instead of ideals like humanity, collectivity etc. Man's ultimate goal was to earn money to enter the market to satisfy his desires. Therefore, the unspoken purpose of the organizations that people build for their liberation is to earn money for their consumerist behavior. Therefore, political parties, organizations and mass movements that organize for liberation anywhere in the world are unable to achieve that goal in this era. They can only fulfill the needs of the world powers.

    NOBODY is pushing back on the analysis of the background of Israeli-Palestinian conflict and I mean NOBODY! If people started off the conversation the way Slavoj did I guarantee you nobody would say we can't talk about how this came about. What people DO push back on is when people either condemn Hamas and continue to insert a "but" in the conversation(in essence in a sneaky way attempting to justify what Hamas did) or they outright reject any notion that what Hamas did was wrong and think it was fully justified. Furthermore, they often cherry pick historic events or outright bastardising history to better serve their argument. Sorry but no self respecting person would sit there and platform such duplicity and historical incompetence. I'm not saying that Israel is entirely innocent in all this but they are not the ruthless colonisers the other side is making them out to be. I mean tell me what sort of constructive debate can be had when the other side immediately kicks off the conversation with "Israel the colonizer"? So I'm sorry Slavoj, bring me someone who doesn't have a comically warped view of history and events or someone that at least exhibits the ability to have a good faith fair minded discussion and I guarantee you that they will get no pushback. Sadly these people DO NOT EXIST and the reason they do not exist is because they would be taking the losing side of the argument and if they were to fight fair they would lose catastrophically. PS: Of course he did attempt to justify what Hamas did later on in his speech but in a very sneaky blink and you'll miss it kind of way.

      You can say something is unjustified and at the same time realize that things don't happen without reason. Hamas exists for a reason. Without recognizing this, you are literally going down the road of an endless war. How do you expect this conflict to ever end or Hamas and other militants to stop reappearing if you don't recognize the reasons they appear in the first place?

    • @Crypt0n1an
      @Crypt0n1an Год назад

      @@peaperxni5807 OK, please elaborate what is the reason Hamas exists, oh right, their stated goal is to eradicate the state of Israel and have an Islamic state put in it’s place. Anything else you might want to add to that? Once again you people are so stupid it boggles the mind! You are saying there is a valid reason that the genocidal maniacs, Hamas exist? What would you propose Israel do in order to no longer "'give reason" for Hamas to exist? Leave the territory of Israel and hand it over to Hamas to fulfil their stated goals or arrive at a solution which satisfies the Palestinian claims to the West Bank and not only, on top of Gaza(Israel does not dispute that Gaza is Palestinian)? I don’t think you understand cause and effect very well. Would you say the reason a woman got raped at night was because she was walking on her own or because a rapist happened to cross paths with her while she was on her own? Her walking alone didn’t create the rapist out of thin air, rapists exist just as genocidal groups like Hamas exist. As for any claim that it is the longstanding conflict and perceived oppression of the Palestinians that gave rise to Hamas, this is where the cherry picking and bastardising of history occurs on the pro Palestinian side which is so long and storied I do not know where to begin. Nevertheless regardless of how Hamas came about this does not change the fact that Hamas exists and is backed by a significant percentage of the Palestinian people and Muslim world(at one point the overwhelming majority, perhaps still is the case). That should not only trouble you it should send shivers down your spine, the fact that it isn’t and all you lot can do is equivocate and look at causality in a warped twisted kind of way shows that you aren’t really coming at this in a good faith fair minded way. Not to mention the fact that the Palestinians have always had a terroristic flavour to their so called resistance long before Hamas. Might I remind you that upon the formation of the Israeli State it was attacked by ALL it's Muslim neighbours, that Gaza was under Egyptian control and the West Bank under Jordanian control since they forcefully took those lands after 1948 until 1967(violating the proposed UN partition plan) when Israel drove them out. So to claim that Israel is the belligerent or that Israel is the war criminal is at the very least a case of the pot calling the kettle black and most likely a case of pathological projection. The bottom line is that these people that call themselves Palestinian are NOT indigenous to the levant, or at least most of them aren’t. At least 50% of Gazans are Egyptians and the other 50% are Arabs that came in mostly in the last 200 years and to a lesser extent since the Arab Muslims conquered the region. As for their supposed link to the original Philistines this is laughable beyond belief. First of all the Philistines weren’t even indigenous to the area and secondly they disappeared genetically within a couple of centuries of appearing( 1200 BC) and disappeared culturally and as an entity entirely by the 7th century BC(their footprint lasted only 500 years). The indigenous Canaanites that remained were then fully replaced be neighbouring Bedouins upon the conquest of the Macedonian Greeks and subsequently a hodgepodge of Greeks, Jews, Christians and other Canaanite peoples constituted the population of Gaza until the Arab conquests. In other words Jews that moved into Europe and picked up some European genes along the way(up to 50%) are far more genetically related to the original people of the region than these so called Palestinians(essentially Arabs from neighbouring countries particularly in the west bank in the last 100 years). But of course we’ve only talked about Gaza which arguably even if the Palestinians have no legitimate claim to it neither do the Jews(and they actually make no claim to it). When we look at the so called “west bank” things are infinitely worse for your dear Palestinian friends(thieves of history and land, a category only a select few belong to). The land of Samaria and Judea(referred to as the west bank by pro Palestinians) is historic Jewish land, and by historic i mean at least from 1300 BC all the way to today. This land was conquered by many who did everything in their power to eradicate the Jews from it even moving them to Babylon and bringing in their own people, renaming their Kingdoms to Syria Palaestina by the Romans, their massacre and persecution by many invading groups and the British calling the land of Israel, Palestine, coinciding with the invention of the so called Palestinian people. This is Jewish land, period, and the Palestinians best start to accept it. Their best bet is to try to cling to Gaza perhaps advocate for it’s expansion(it was historically 2-3 times larger) even though they aren’t really the historic Philistines but to still make a claim for the west bank let alone the entirety of Israel(“from the river to the sea” comes to mind here) is just duplicity, thievery and greed of the highest order! I urge you to read the history of the region but start from the beginning and try not to be too squeamish when reading about what was done to the Jewish people, from the Assyrians to the Persians to the Greeks, Romans and Arabs, they ALL tried to eradicate them from that region(hence their move into Europe to survive) and now the Arabs are giving it one last try by using every dirty trick in the book, propagandist talking points and half baked ideas to pull at the heart strings of ill educated fools in the west. As for what is going on right now, it is clear, what was done to the Israelis was the biggest per capita single act of terrorism since WWII(equivalent to 14 9/11s), Israel MUST respond with nothing less than the removal of Hamas as a viable entity in Gaza. They of course are using their own population as human shields however Israel is not obligated to endure this constant threat and terrorism at their doorstep in perpetuity because of Palestinian human shields, this has to end once and for all. That is what they are doing with surgical strikes at Hamas strongholds, infrastructure and capability to wage war(with the unfortunate unavoidable collateral civilian deaths). Once Hamas is removed a more reasonable government can be put in place then negotiations for a solution can commence. As for the west bank, well, forget Samaria and Judea, those were, are and will continue to be Jewish land. Note: Hamas is not to be trusted with their reporting of casualties as evidenced from the tendency to lie and inflate their figured with the most recent example of the supposed Israeli hospital strike that killed 500 but in actual fact turned out to be a Palestinian rocket that misfired and landed in the car park killing 50 people at most(all this is verifiable and indisputable if you just do a modicum of honest research).

      no one's reading all that. Zizek is right and he's being ridiculed by you because he made you uncomfortable enough to go back to 7th century bc as if any of that matters now. People have read the history of the region, many know the history of the region. You talk about act of terror against Israelis when Palestinians have been going through this day in and day out since the Nakba. Also, people who say "removal of Hamas" also subtly hint at the removal of Gaza and the West Bank which includes innocent civilians, most of which are children. Israel policy directly opened up the space for Hamas to rise and gain power and they even funded the group during its beginning as a charity group. I suggest you try to analyze the situation better, like zizek has tried to do here. Hamas doesn't even have missiles capable of destruction like that, there are countless images and videos of Hamas missiles that don't have the same impact as the one at the hospital did. I'm not saying that Israel is to blame here but we should be skeptical of claims that IDF has made. The IDF has a history of lying and covering up shit just like the US. This is not me defending Hamas btw, I condemn their attacks and what they're doing not only to the Israelis but the Palestinians as well. I urge you to look at the situation wth a closer eye. @@Crypt0n1an

    quoting both sides vervatim and accepting both sides (representations) equally and literally in the name of diversity and inclusion as the only correct way to reach a valid conclusion is the definition of relativism, which is completely incapable of resolving any serous conflict like this Palestine-Israel one. finding small logical mistakes and inconsistencies within each side is not a philosophical critique. it's just a cheap gotcha, mistakes can be corrected within the ideological framework in no time. we're none the wiser after zizak's neither-here-nor-there speech. the question is simple: did the zionists have the right to violently invade, occupy, and cleanse Palestine 75 years ago? do they have the right to commit slow motion genocide for 75 years? do they have the right to defend themselves from the Palestinians by any and all means at this point? who has the moral authority to condemn Hamas for resisting violently at this point?

    A question to Zizek - do you feel hopeful that a unified Palestinian voice that affirms Israels existential right to existence to arise after this trauma? I feel as though Israel would match such a voice if it were to arise. The frustration and fear I feel as an Israeli is one of disbelieve that the Palestinian people can break out of trauma cycles and pressure put onto them by Iranian radicalization to genuinely forgive the Jews for what we felt we needed to do back in 48 to self determine. The situation wasn't simple for either side and both parties hands were dirtied. I know Israel has plenty of trauma to get over but I can also say that the center of the country has a receptivity to moving forward if narratives of true forgiveness and acceptance would come out of Palestine. It is a lot to ask - I know, but unfortunately it is the only sustainable baseline for actual peace.

      @@doryskory7026 There is a book called psychology of totalitarianism, which i didn't read yet, but i listened to the author on youtube. Among other interesting things, he mentions how before things go one way or the other, there is a period when it is decided. Time is working for the "light' but if "darkness" wins that period, then it can create a long period of its rule. If there is collective unity in madness and lives of innocent people become irrelevant for the greater good of destroying an enemy, then that society is like a train without breaks. Can't stop and can't turn. But if enough voices who defy that narrative are heard, hearing that changes people's thinking and can prevent disaster. If all you hear is kill, kill, kill, you might think that is what must be done. But if one voice says No, you don't have to kill, that is a powerful message that gives you another option to think about.

    V zgodovinskem trenutku, ko se na vseh koncih politične korektnosti poudarja različnost je Slavoj Žižek postavil ogledalo vsem. Obsodil terorizem in opozoril na trpljenje. Pokazal in po reakcijah dokazal, da je različnost črno bela.

      Knowing how far Zizek can go- he was extremely polite in this talk, wonder ...why he provoked hatred? Must be the solution to this. Israel will always be Israel, but- where is Palestine?

    Žižek is absolutely right...accurate, argumentative, logical, he sees more than most of those present here...which is worrying at the book fair...SO where is the intellectual depth of the view and attitude? Just like in Ukraine and Russia, there are two sides, directed by the unprecedented propaganda war of America that censors, lies and hides. The USA is always deeply involved..even the creator of wars....people do not think for themselves, and with knowledge...people do not understand, or understand, but look at their interests, or the fear of the revenge of wild cowboys...
