Can I start by saying Country Angling Supplies, while they always have mud rag available often it will be too small to put on the hook. Very often it is dead or near mush when you get to your fishing spot. I've also found it to be underweight and packed with all kinds of rubbish. Country Angling Supplies is akind to a pound shop, where rubbish fishing gear is sold at high prices. Now fishing into a gully will result in lost tackle, as your rig gets caught in the gully sides. I have fished this mark many times, The tide will not start to come in until 2 hours before high tide. Then it will rush in. So while there are lots of puddles to fish while you wait for the tide to start moving. Generally being there at low water is a waste of time.

That great Tom Bagnal does somehow know exactly the evening's that the Ray's will feed. Over the last 2 months I have fished Southbourne 4 times and not one Small Eyed. I did manage 2 Thornbacks on my last visit , but both on Peelers which generally don't fish very well at this venue.

Excellent video Stuart. Hythe reclaimed land (before the Marina was built) was fantastic this time of year for Flounders, session in the 1980's often produced double figures in terms of numbers caught. I'm sure from looking at the spot you were fishing from and your casting that you were very close to the deep water that extends between the marina channel and Dock head as that area acts as a swinging area for vehicle transporters ships that tend to dock on that section of the port. I've has the odd decent ray from that spot. I tend to fish now fromShore Road as I can walk to that venue. I've heard marina security have a habit on occasion of asking people to fish elsewhere lately, hope that wasn't the case with you. Tight lines.

Local knowledge atN Shore. Daytime long casting with makerelbait guarantees doggies in daytime. Well done.
