Hier zeige ich euch meine handgemachten Caps. Einzigartig mit Herz hergestellt in Thüringen/Germany.
Pauls Cap - Making of SMFX unique headwear

I leave the link to get the mold / pattern for the 5 panel cap, I created it from other molds and I have perfected it a bit, they must print each image on a4 sheet, it has a cost of 2 dollars since I It has taken work and I think it is worth it, if you want to collaborate with more you have the option of paying more than 2 dollars if you want, I hope it helps you! gumroad.com/l/fivepanelpatterns

Hi I am new to hat making but having a hard time finding a supplier for the plastic brim..where do you buy the plastic piece for the visor or brim ? What is it called and do you buy it in large sheets ? thanks
Hi, its called foam plastic and I buy large sheets from a local supplier here in Germany.
Nice work. I'm thinking about making my own hats. In the video what are the materials you are using to make the hat and where can i purchase those items to make a hat.
+Mia Mia Thanks for your nice words. There are so many different materials I am using. Take yourself a campcap (brand doesnt matter) and look what they use. Specify your question, maybe I can help then. Most of the cap is cotton, most parts are custom made by myself and the inner brim is foam plastic. I get all my stuff I need here in Germany in a normal fabric supply store.
What kind of machine do you use?
+Johnathan Barnes its a simple sewing machine made 40 years ago in East Germany. The brand is VERITAS, but they do not exist no more. See a picture on my website (scroll down to see the very first post) ... www.smfx-skateboards.com/headwear1.html
Damn i wish this was a tutorial, i see you used some kind of thick fabric to keep the round shape of the hat and i dont know what that is. I tried making one and just doubled the fabric in the front and it does not stand up like yours.
+Nytellem go ask your local fabrics store what this could be. I know they can help u out :)
0:32 what is the size of the side pannels?
+NOFEAR I developed the pattern myself, so I do not give away any dimensions of the individual parts. Sorry bro!!!
+Jan Hünniger itz okk np :) i just did mine just now to but thanks anyway... Nice work tho keep it going
Qué tipo de máquina de coser utilizas? Utilizas una máquina overlock también? Saludos!
Christian Leonardo Vergara Marin here is a picture of the old lady ;) ... www.smfx-skateboards.com/headwear1.html scroll down to the end of the side!
jaja cool! Quiero comprar una máquina para hacer unas gorras, una maquina como ésta me servirá? www.ripley.cl/wcsstore/ripleycl_CAT_AS/Attachment/WOP/D122/2019120650000/2019120650000_2.jpg Saludos!
Christian Leonardo Vergara Marin dont know if this one is strong enough. looks a little small.
Christian Leonardo Vergara Marin Que significa lo que pusieron en ingles? Vos sabes las medidas de los paneles?
wow cool!!! very nice work!!! is perfect!
Christian Leonardo Vergara Marin thank you very much for your nice words. I appreciate it a lot sir!!
there are 3 types of feet I use. One standard foot and two for sewing left or right on the edge. Dont even know what they called in german so I cant name them ;) +Treesner
What type of sewing machine feet did you switch between?
Great cap. Where do you get your hat straps? I've been looking online and haven't found anything. As well as the fabric.
CDan2011 Thanks buddy! I make the hat straps on my own like every part of the cap. If you mean the plastic closure look for "buckles" on the web. Follow "smfxskateboards" on Instagram to see pics of the making of some parts. The fabrics you can get everywhere in stores. I don't use special fabrics. Sometimes I "recycle" old clothes if the fabric is cool ;)
smootheffex ill check it out. what fabric are you using for the interior lining when you do the top stitch? also what fabric is the headband made out of?
CDan2011 the interior is an industrie fabric, I dont know the name and its hard to find. Got this from a local store and they dont got it no more so I have to look for other materials. The top stitch comes directly after I added a panel to another. The headband is made of heavy cotton.
Wow, this is a really great vid. Where did you get your plastic from for the brim, I've been looking for one everywhere and i haven't found it yet! You Hand sew your brim to the hat and then sew on the sweatband with machine? What was the purpose of the mini iron looking thing that you used to cover the seams and how do you get your topstitch lines so straight? Hope you can answer my questions. Thank You!
Daja Rice I got mine from a local plastic sheet shop. I fix the brim to the hat with the machine. I hand sew every sweatband to the brim (theres no way to do this with my machine) the sides work with the machine again. The mini iron is for splitting the fabric at the backside of the seams and to fix the bias tape over the seams. The topstitch lines are so straight because of .. my magic fingers :) .. just joking .. practice and routine is all you need ;) hope this helps. cheers!!
Do you always hand sew the brim to the hat?
yes I do
You mind telling me what you used to cover the seams on the inside of the hat?
I use 20 mm bias tape
smootheffex What type of fabric did you use? and why did you change the foot on the machine? great video by the way. thanks
DopePickUps415 I used thick cotton and suede. I need 3 types of foots for different parts of the sewing process to get a perfect result.
