Thanks! I always worry about drifting when they are that close together but at this point they fly so little that it does not happen too much.

Through tribological tests, we revealed that the friction forces when feeding on dry sugar is approximately 5 times that of dipping nectar, and the glossal hairs wear 4 times faster when feeding on dry sugar compared to the sucrose solution.

Yes we have a late winter here this year. I am usually done with this by the end of october, but it was so warm in october the bees were flying everyday, so I put it off this year. All of the collonies that have a screened bottom board have their inserts installed. That prevents wind from blowing up under the hives and created a dead air space for the bees. I have never seen the study on dry sugar I should take a look at that.

we use some cloth material we get from Hobby lobby

were they 18v or 20v? The two batteries i am using are a 6amp and 4amp 20v. They will do about 50 colonies. I get over to owen enough i should check it out.

The Milwaukee batteries are 18 volt. You can get the instavap with milwaukee or dewalt adapter.

I did about 25 colonies yesterday with one 6 amp hr battery and it wasn't quite empty yet.

Sounds like a better deal than dewalt

We will do 3 rounds about 5-6 days apart

Getting a couple of good batteries is more than the vaporizer!

@ so I was a carpenter so I used dewalt gear for my job I have 30 laying around the shed but hear it a tip it don’t have to be a dewalt you can buy china ones and they will fit the same just make sure you get the one that uses dewalt

@ they are like 35 bucks a peace and work longer then the dewalt they are no difference

I would prefer to have all poly hives but i can get the wood ones so much cheaper. I hope to get 5 more this year.

Have no idea. I have tried to find out what essential oils are actually in it, but have found nothing.

We have had robbing for about a month now. My neighbor has 5 hives and does not feed in any way. The bees have been burning through their honey stores the last month and I think his are starving.

@@hamburghoney Maine, WI here. Going through 25lbs of sugar a day. Not to get them to weight but to just keep the foragers busy so they wont rob. Hopefully, this is the last of it after Tuesday.

Township of Maine in Marathon county? We have gone through about 900lbs of sugar so far this fall. Not our normal fall. The bees should be tucked in and clustering every night, but they are out flying around for 8 hours a day. Not good

@@hamburghoney Yeah. We had all the rain in the spring and summer causing some queen failures and a slow buildup for us. Now it's dry as a bone. Not a good bee year.

You are right on all counts. We figure that they should stay warm enough in the house to be able to raise some brood. We purposely put a very small hive in there that was never going to make it over the winter here. We will see what happens!

She got too old and has stopped laying eggs. She needs to lay about 1500 eggs per day in the summer to keep the hive going. When she runs out of eggs and stops laying the bees in the hive will kill her.

No she died without the hive. The bees would have killed her if she had stayed in the hive anyway. When a queen begins to stop laying eggs the bees will kill her and raise a new one.

She really does still look good for a 4 year old queen. But her hive dwindled over the summer and she is down to two frames of bees and brood. It is too late in the fall to replace her so her brood will be put in another hive.
