    I’m starting a class on Postmodern Family Therapy Techniques at Umass Global next week, where we'll learn various approaches like Narrative Therapy. I’m looking forward to learning from someone as playful, positive and passionate as Justine. It is infectious and we all need playfulness, joy and hope. While my own journey to education and stability was tough (Gen Xer who basically raised myself and was on my own at 16, have lived in my car and had a lot of other adversity from both within and from my environment), I'm acutely aware that it's even harder these days for young people to find a path than it was in the early 2000s. I'm hoping Justine will have ideas to help clients find purpose, expand possibilities and love their life in the midst of the struggle.

    Proffesssor, as 'Wild system theory', is being discussed. One understands and sees that it is expendable in nature. Allowing and facilitating a discipline to transcend in this movement. Where upon engaging to a broader sense of applying this theory , what are the levels that measures this theory?

    • @darkloopsproductions
      @darkloopsproductions 11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for asking! I have referred to WST as a transdisciplinary framework because the notion of "embodied context" can be used by all disciplines. A variable in an equation, a controlled chemical reaction, and a piece of graphic art are ALL embodiments of context. Hope this answer made sense!

  • @furkandar5050

    Prof. Jordan I really enjoyed this podcast. I wanted to ask you that how as a student of literature will I use this theory in analyzing my text. Because as literary scholar I usually apply my theories when I'm reading a text be it a book or a poem or a story and how is it that I would use this theory in the same context. And another question is that when you talk reality in terms of subjective reality and objective reality does it fit in the context of literature. When I take a novel for example how do I divide it in objective reality and subjective reality. The writings within and the places it transports a person to, where do they stand in context of reality. I would really like to know your perspective on it.

    • @darkloopsproductions
      @darkloopsproductions 11 месяцев назад

      Fantastic questions! As for how to "use" WST to analyze a text, it is first important to understand that WST conceptualizes al systems/things/stabilities as embodiments of context. As a result, all systems/things/stabilities are necessarily "about" they contexts they embody. In short, they are embodied "aboutness." They are embodied meaning. From this perspective, all texts and images ARE embodied aboutness. Thus, reading a text is an exercise in allowing one's aboutness to be modulated by the aboutness embodied in the text. All of this language I've just used completely avoids the objective-subjective distinction. By trapping phenomena such as consciousness, meaning, and experience in the "subjective" side of the subjective-objective binary, those who utilize such binaries are stuck trying to explain how the "objective" world becomes meaningful (i.e., becomes subjective). According to WST, this is a misguided way of thinking. Everything is meaning. Everything is aboutness. Looking at a cloud, a pool of clear water, or text, ALL modulate one's aboutness. I hope this answer was useful!

  • @AvanikaVerma

    prof. scott do you think at the pace that technology is advancing in this current age and time we will soon be able to bridge the epistemic gap and curb our curiosity of wild systems of the world by having discovered all there is. is there an end to this web of wild systems of humankind in your opinion?

    • @darkloopsproductions
      @darkloopsproductions 11 месяцев назад

      I LOVE this question! I would first ask that everyone who reads this question, answer it for themselves first, then, perhaps read what I'm about to say. Wild Systems Theory asserts that the notion of an epistemic gap between self-sustaining systems (i.e., wild systems) and their contexts in an ASSUMPTION created by those who believe reality divides into objective and subjective properties. According to WST, wild systems (i.e., self-sustaining energy transformation systems) NECESSARILY embody the contexts in which they sustain themselves. My bones, muscles, and brain are an embodiment of the constraints that have to be addressed to propel a mass, as a whole, through a gravity field. As a result, my bones, muscles, and brain are NECESSARILY ABOUT each other and how they collectively manage locomotion. There is no objective-subjective gap between my embodiments and what they are ABOUT. Thus, wild systems don't "perceive" or "detect" the world as much as they "modulate" the contexts they are embedded within, while the context simultaneously modulates them. At not point is there an "aboutness" gap. So, as science continues to develop increasingly coherent descriptions of the contexts we are embedded within, those descriptions do not tell me how reality "truly is" across an assumed epistemic gap as much as they provide increasingly sophisticated descriptions of context that afford me more and more sophisticated forms of modulation. Hope this made any sense at all. Feel free to respond.

    Professor Jordan I wanted to ask if you think the embodiment of context stays constant with whatever the axiom of socio political happenings are going on around the world and if there can be any major shift inside each one of us if we come in control of it.

    • @darkloopsproductions
      @darkloopsproductions 11 месяцев назад

      Great question! "Socio political happenings" are an extremely robust aspect of the contexts we embody. What stays "constant" for wild systems is their status as embodiments of context. How they embody various contexts will differ from system to system. I hope this answer made any sense. Happy to continue the conversation!

If you want to discuss something about one piece, i'd like to hear your opinion about biological father in the series, like Yasopp, and if you all caught up with manga or anime, you know, biological father in one piece is such a selfish jerk who leaves their family or abandoning them. The "step dad" is always better. Honestly, it such a trope in shonen manga. It happens in FMA Brotherhood too. Is it cultural based trope? Or one of writing formula? Or something else?

    Thank for your feedback from sister and zombie Scotty . I wanted to really appreciate Kindred the television show because as highschool in the 90s In Cleveland Ohio I worked as worked as librarian assistant books were my job but stories were what I enjoyed most. I and ones school assigned were socalled classic but mostly Shakespeare and American literature but my junior year we changed circulmn and discover Octavia Butler and Toni Morrison and I went from reading to diving into the deep end. These authors were lyricist and used their tone and texture to weave tapestry Kindred was not my favorite book but I learned a lot respect the way in which the slavery was dealt with dense sad sensitive storyline and was Dana was a 70s character that was quick mind heroine and we feel her loss of and fight for sovereignty and how this tv show diluted that emotional and physical life threatening Someone once said that time travel for blacks is political /fearful experience because while for non black often make time travel parallel their typical travel that is often exploit those area I'm thinking tourism in Thailand. Caribbean. I don't know which part of the books this show wanted to highlight My first episode and Kevin is restaurant waiter and not Dana husband...danna has moved to La and knows no one outside her Dad's sister and brother in-law she..tries to sass and repeatedly Is brat to these relatives but she is real nice to that random white guy , and there no slut shaming but why is she getting.a ride home with this guy and why was this man who own sister called him a "struggle" ex band bum. I don't want to blame the actors and actresses because they are not writers This phenomenal storytelling name I'd being used too push a series is unfortunately common. AMC ended the walking dead and supposedly right prior to her passing acquired the right to Anne Rice body or work ...i don't know if you guys covered interview with a vampire but it starts actor who played Greyworm in Game of Thrones , Amazing actor Billy Bass, and a theatre actor. Who ever production was for Interview was really good at changing from source material to include a black man in new Orleans in 1930 instead of 1880 plantation...they are explicit in Lestat and Louis being a gay couple but bring Lestat in all his horrific glory a seducer, manipulator, and controlled maelstrom...they took a literal masterpiece and refined their own version. Well now we have an Immortal universe and the Anne Rice second famous series Mayfairs Witches....and the way that series wasn't my favorite but the production is ls night and day as. If someone took a painting of Mona lisa and then another reproduction was a stick figure with smiley face. Anyone who enjoys genres television or expect Ed witches and magic would be on been on episodes 5 before you see it and it and then you want to know more about the flash back then main storyline...a mess. I watched charmed vampire diaries AhS coven they weren't perfect but at least they followed familiar tropes and yes this got a season 2 I think it's studios like AMC and Hulu wanting to attach new project and have established fan base ....it's lazy and manipulative of Audience t.. and I only continue so watch to critique the full season I hope toyfhy

    Hey Zombie Scotty and Sistahs! This is Dena from Sistah Speak Nation! I had to separate this show from the book because I wanted to throw my TV across the room so many times. I hated Dana. She was so selfish and Kevin is supposed to be an intelligent writer, not a doe-eyed substance abuser. They changed Sarah, which I also hated. To try to make it mysterious, they left out Alice's real connection. Rufus was obsessed with Alice from when they were friends as kids. They only focused on Carrie and Nigel as his companions. They also made everyone too proper. All the enslaved people sounded like Dana, and they were speaking with very modern language on the plantation. That was one of the biggest issues they had with Dana in the book, "she talked like white folk". Bringing in the mom just made it stupid and then they tried to say the same happened to the mom's mom because she also disappeared. Ugh! No! The only reason the universe kept giving Dana this fate was to save the future of her family, not because of some weird time jumping power that passed down each generation. This isn't CHARMED! Lol. I hated the neighbors, too! Oh, and I can't help but see Ryan Kwanten as Jason Stackhouse owning slaves. He is giving me antebellum True Blood. Anyway, great episode y'all! I subbed the channel, Zombie Scotty! ❤

    I believe Rhaenys was so matter of fact in delivering the news to Rhaenyra and Daemon, and not killing the Greens, because she believes Rhaenyra and Daemon had something to do with Leanors death. Daemon was preparing for war. They were on high alert. He did not have time to comfort Rhaenyra. She would have been part of the war council If she wasn't pregnant. Daemon was taking care of business, imo. Daemon choked Rhaenyra because she was spouting dreams similar to Vicerys, and D. couldn't tolerate it. Daemon wants Rhaenyra to be a dragon! If Daemon wanted to be King, he would've been playing the Game of Thrones. But he will not shy away from doing his duty if it is required of him. Rhaenys did not bow or bend because she was experiencing a vicarious moment as Rhaenyra was being coronated Queen. There was nobody to fight for her right to the throne, but Rhaenys could support Rhaenyra's legitimate claim. Lastly, the writers are trying to make the Greens as sympathetic as possible which is why they had the dragons disobey the orders of their riders, and Aemon had that regretful look on his face at the end. Unfortunately, the writers have made the Greens unredeemable throughout the season. And Vhagar is powerful, but she is also an old, old dragon.

    Lady Olenna said to Daenerys, " The Lords of Westeros are sheep. Are you a sheep? No. You're a dragon. Be a dragon." The issue with the conflict between Viserys and Daemon is that Daemon is a dragon. He is a dragon rider. There is a mystical connection between a dragon and their rider, imo. A dragon cannot be a slave. Daemon scoffs at the traditions of Westeros, which is partly the reason he hated being forced into marriage with a non Targaryen. Daemon is a Separatist. Viserys is not a dragon. He is not a dragon rider. He is attempting to be a Valyrian-Westerosian. He did not marry a Targaryen. He married an Arryn from the Vale because that was the way the conquerors, the Targaryens, attempted to be accepted into that society. Maybe that is why he and his wife had fertility issues and is the reason why his children with Alicent are "different." Viserys allowed outsiders to cause a rift between him and Daemon for the most part to keep the peace (cause we know Viserys doesn't care for conflict). We see the price he has paid for his decisions to marry, keeping his brother at a distance, and surrounding himself by others not of his blood. Viserys is an Integrationist. The writers have mentioned the significance of keeping the Velaryon and Targaryen bloodlines pure. Maybe part of the story is the outcome of what happens when Targaryens mate with other families. My theory has obvious flaws. It's a working theory.

      @@jess9650Thank you for the correction. Yes. I should have stated that Viserys did not marry a full blooded Targaryen. Aemma was part Targaryen on her mother's side. I was trying to build a working theory, however flawed, on whether or not there are difficulties in childbirth if the mother, if not full blooded on both sides, is weak and she is Targaryen on the mother's side. But you are correct. Aemma was part Targaryen. Aemma was not a dragon rider. Vhagar has only been ridden by 4 people. Visyna T., Baelon T. , Laena Velaryon, and Aemond T.

      Gotcha. My bad I thought she had a dragon. Theorizing on this show is half the fun :)

    Ser Zombie Scotty, Daemon did not stop Cristen from attacking Luke. If you remember Cristen said he was Alicent's protector, nothing more. Daemon stepped in when Alicent attacked Rhaenyra with the dagger and that was when the guards were trying to engage but were reluctant to intervene between Alicent and Rhaenyra, if you recall.
