Uhm no you see the whole lore isn’t really about stopping time travel it’s about making sure that everything happens the way it’s supposed to Steve traveling back in time was meant to happen so he was following his path so the tva never needed to get involved.

Considering Red Guardian is the most loudly Russian guy we've seen in the MCU, I took his comment as a jokey reference to the infamously commie-hating 50s comic Cap Marvel eventually retcon'd as not actually being Steve and Bucky; totally someone they'd go after. But also leaving a plot-thread if they ever wanted to revisit that in the MCU in a less goofy way.

My take on time travel and multiverses is that i don't have a take on time travel and multiverses. ( I'm not burning out brain cells on trying to figure out fictional, largely unimportant events )

I mean if the tva is outside of time, and loki becomes the god of stories, and allows for infinite branching timelines and the multiverse, then it no longer matters what steve or anyone did with time travel? You could remove stones and it wouldnt do anything anymore. The tva being outside of time and space but having its own separate time is a paradox, because it means loki has always been there since forever and no variants would ever exist

Steve back in time wasn’t the same timeline so it wouldn’t have worked that way. Nice try though. More likely, he faced an imposter or is lying. The cap in the timeline Steve went back too was still on ice, so everything Steve did there was rewriting time for that timeline. When the real Steve from that timeline was awaken, the Steve from the main timeline came back and gave Falcon his shield. And because going back to another timeline doesn’t change the main timeline, nothing Steve did will affect the main timelines past or future. Alexei claiming he fought Cap in the 80’s was probably someone pretending to be Cap and that’s how he beat him, it was potentially a dream, a planted memory by Draykov, an alternate timeline Cap or he is straight up so in love and impressed with himself that he made up a lie and repeated it enough he actually believes it.

I saw a theory that it was william burnside, who was the man that was revealed to be the fake commie smasher cap from the comics. He was a fake (that was made to avoid the bad press from the commie smasher run), and he would go on to be a very evil man; even worse than John Walker/US Agent.
