Membership is too expensive, the qualification for the games should be based on open results, mega teams stacked with pro crossfitters goes away from local community feel, the games has gone away from traditional CrossFit movements too much. Cross fit games athletes are bang average at sprinting, swimming and biking. So why have it? PEDs at the top end. This is why it’s failing. No connection to the affiliates at the games. Movements most crossfitters can’t do or have access too and a steroid culture at the top. Tia Clair Orr had a baby last year now she is back even more shredded than ever ???

If his problem is catching in a power or deep overhead position then the problem is shoulder mobility. This issue can be easily solved with targeted mobility and strength work. Great analysis on the video!

I’m a HUGE fan of the People’s Champ and have been rooting for PV to be crowned for years. This is a very good assessment of his “weaknesses” (compared to the rest of the fittest) and 100% certain he’s WELL aware. I hope the work he’s put in gets to be displayed in Ft Worth🤞.

His worst events are biking and swimming? Seems like it’s an issue with long cardio. I don’t have the stats but what does he do with 5k run or longer? Love Pat and I’m glad he has won over the other guys at Rogue. He’s ripped and all that extra weight could make long cardio harder.

Great stuff. Perhaps he rather focus what he is at best and does not focus to improve weaknesses.

Unlike most of the field, he’s been elite among the elite while having work (Chiropractor) and family obligations. The Games are not his sole focus in life so honestly, that’s even more impressive in my mind. Imagine is like Fraser he literally dedicated his entire year to training! I honestly think he’d have a couple of 1st place wins. All that said, he’s in my mind the gold standard for a well rounded human being performing at high levels in all aspects of life. He’s kind of like the ultimate Dad!

There’s context and he’s explained what went wrong during each of these events. Whether you take his word or not is up to you but I just think shoulder fatigue while weightlifting is one of those “when it’s gone it’s gone” things (wall walks are body weight and thrusters are ~70% leg strength anyways) he pushes to the red line more than he’s capable of- simple as that

The people that compete at the highest levels in the CrossFit games are olympic level atheletes, way beyond the average CrossFit member. Also most elite competitors are on that secret sauce. To compete at that level was a dream for many but social media has exposed the reality of the sport. Not to mention performing olympic lifts at high speed repeatedly is a recipe for injury.

I did CrossFit for years...never watched The Games one time. CrossFit was born in the affiliates, and died in the affiliates.

I think that it is both gamesmanship to find the exploits and also the job of the event organizers to constantly raise the expectations. It’s human nature to look for a loophole but the basis of competition is a perceived fairness.

Great video again Mason. CF back in the day was wild and definitely did some crazy shit. Rightly the community took abuse at times but overall the impact was overwhelmingly positive. The whole movement of crossfit was somewhat counter culture and that was exactly what drew many people to it. No question for me that CF propelled functional fitness forward long before it would have otherwise arrived in the mainstream. Back in the early days every new fad that dropped was adopted by crossfitters and ran its course, and i take that as a positive. People were really exploring exercising and that was the point. I think now a lot of people are moving away that were once involved (partly due to challenges of running the business and life in general) but also due to how the methodology is not as progressive and rebellious as it once was. Its largely been adopted and built upon by many others at this point. Still fantastic, still lots of fun, but not new and exciting and pushing boundaries. Regardless its a lot of fun to look back at the early videos. Khalipa is a legend but that snatch vid will always be my favourite. As for Ronnie Teasdale - he was a character and a good example of everything i said above for better and worse. Just don't stare at the sun tho man.

I love old school CrossFit. I love the grungy garage sort of vibe. My favorite years in the games are when all the athletes also work full time jobs. Love the aromas time period as well. Idk up til 2016 it felt like a bunch of people you could relate to were having a friendly game to see who was the best. Now it’s all pro athletes that train multiple times a day and do nothing but train and I can’t relate to them. Also without sevan I really don’t know anything about the athletes so really don’t care much. Look at what sevan did with Taylor Self and how many of us knew who he was and cheered him in semis. Idk I love CrossFit but the feel and culture seems lost once you get outside the box.

Please cover the pendulum yoke for max distance team event at the 2011 (?) games if you do a part 3.
