There are so many amazing organizations and people making Canada a better place... and we want to celebrate those causes and the great work being done at the 1st Annual Common Language Story Slam on MARCH 1st, 2025!
Over the course of three, 2hr screenings in 1 action packed day, you will get to watch 12 short-films (called Digital Stories) that were created by volunteer storytellers connected to one of these great organizations. Each volunteer storyteller will be paired with a Common Language trained facilitator to create their digital story, and at the event we will get to speak to both the facilitator and storyteller after watching their story. At the end of each screening we will have...

I'm so sorry for your loss! I appreciate that you are talking about suicide and suicide prevention as it is so important. I can only imagine the pain you had to go through and the questions circling around in your head. You are very right with the emotional pain as this can be unbearable. As someone who has been suffering from suicidal ideation and depressive episodes most of my life due to repressed and unacknowleged trauma, nobody would have "seen it coming". I have learned to built a facade, a mask, a second personality. Smiling, laughing, looking seemingly happy. That's something that I'd like people to know who have lost a beloved person to suicide, and who feel guilty or blaming themselves. Sometimes there are no signs and the reason why is because the person doesn't want any interference. I'm sending you so much love and I'm quite sure that your brother is very proud of you.

Thank you, as well for your sympathies. Sometimes I still can't believe my brother is gone. Sending you back loads of love and a huge hug ( if you are ok with a hug). I hope he is proud of me. I feel that he is and he has actually given me a gift- to understand better the pain people go through and to have compassion and empathy <3

You turned your (and his) pain into purpose which requires strength. He surely is proud of you and even if it sounds strange, he is still around just not the way he was before. 😇 Well, real support has been the only thing that I never really got. That's why I started to inform and educate myself on trauma etc. and somehow made it through and developed a strong spiritual connection. So many things that I have been learning ever since and one of the most important ones is that I will never again judge people by appearances because I know how it feels. Only those affected by mental illness and/or dealing with mentally ill people understand that appearances are deceiving. Again, thank you so much for reaching out! Keep up the great work you are doing! It's much needed! Sending love and blessings to you and your team!! 💜💜

The day I went out to do the photographs with my brother's converse shoes by the lake, it was raining- the photographer ( Kristy Wolfe) said she wondered if the weather would clear- I said that my brother always comes through for me- we then turned into the area where we were going to do the photographs and there was this glorious rainbow- as you see in the photographs. I knew my brother sent it to me. Thank you for the love you send and again, your kindness and support.

one of the things I often think of is how thankful we are that Rachel invited us to share, and support her, in her grief and her celebration of Luke's life by having ice cream together - even though we are far apart. It was helpful to us to have something tangible we could do to show our support when we felt helpless.
I'm so glad there were so many people that were able to make it. And I absolutely agree it gave us an opportunity to support.
