Very informative and refreshing to finally hear the “other” side of the story. I’m currently reading “The Conquest of Texas”. This video helped me to better understand and learn about the history of Indian tribes, Tejanos, and Mexicans that lived in Texas. This is a history that has literally been buried along with the people of this land called Texas.

Intro is ridiculously long. Bill Brands talks way too much about himself - stick to your topic.

South Carolina was never an Independent Country, as TEXAS was, but South Carolina was the first state to leave the Union on December 20, 1860, citing State's Right Doctrine, firing off the start of the Civil War! Most of these History buffs speaking way out of turn with no real facts, but their recollection on books they have read, stating and conveying the perceived truth that's more illusory than truth. Just stating a paradox of negative judgement that has been re-articulated, negative truths! These guys are smuggling in negative aspects of truth, trying to sound and making it difficult to reject in their minds and the audience's minds. My 6x Great Grandfather fought at the Alamo and family facts were carried thru the generations, information unknown to these story tellers and their half truths.

Every generation ALWAYS interprets history. ALL history is revision. Do you believe the 1st generation of Texas ‘historians’ were objective? Now go read a book…

In his last breath before questions, Brands refers to a war between the United States and Texas. Huh?

He's possibly referring to Texas's secession along with the Confederacy. But I think he meant to allude to the Mex-Am war.

There is no proof whatsoever that the Alamo defenders repaired the 18-pounder cannon, knocked out of commission by Ampudia's artillerymen on the second day of the siege. Col. Minon, who was second in command, in Col. Morales' column, attacked that same cannon position, and in his after battle report, he NEVER mentioned any cannon fire from that position at the south-west side of the Alamo perimeter. Also, IF he and his men did encounter any cannon fire, it was not much, for his column was the FIRST to enter the south-west perimeter of the compound, and it was witnessed by the whole army, and Santa Anna. And he was proud of this fact. De la Pena, also stated that Morales' men were ALREADY in the southern part of the compound, when he was able to get in.

There WAS a Sea of Mud that slow down the Mexican retreat, but it did not cause any discouragement at all in its ranks. On the contrary, some officers approach Filisola, in order to STOP the retreat, but, instead Filisola when forward towards Matamoros, at the orders of a captured commander, Santa Anna, when he did not have to. This was contrary to all thr rules of war. Also, A Sea of Misfortunes, caused by Filisola made the retreat possible; soon, before the army even reached Matamoros, Filisola was sacked, and the command of the army was given to General Urrea. however, by that time, it was better to go to Matamoros, and refit, than to return to the fields of Texas.
