Raymond Scott actually didn't write his early famous tunes for use in cartoons. The publishing rights to a variety of his 1937-1939 tunes were purchased by Warner Bros in 1943 and Carl Stalling (and others) incorporated some of them into numerous Looney Tunes cartoons until 1961. I'll have to search out this documentary about him -- 'Deconstructing Dad' /watch?v=ogJlnNqSHt0
