Hey Anthony, the wall the louvers are designed, they have some overlap onto one another, so they don't close flush with one another.

Hey Paul, it seems one item you bought was the combo pack that has the SMDRA adapters with the screws already included. The other item was the classic baluster kit, which just has balusters and plastic eng plugs. These are used for when someone pre-drills their railings. The normal baluster pack does not come with connectors with the screws, so that you can choose the stair or level rail connectors (the ones with screws).

@@paulquesnel4452 Ah, yes, then you'd want to pre-drill holes about 3/4" but you may want to test out sizes to ensure the most snug fit, as these are built for our pre-drilled rails.

To get it out of the ground, try attaching another piece of scrap wood on top like a 'T' and hammer it up and out of the ground. You could also cut the wood down, do that 'T' method and carefully pull it out.

Interesting project idea! Depending on the weight you'd want it to hold, you might want to use the 6" x 6" version. If you do this project send us a photo on social!

Yeah, we have seen a few projects using these to hold posts for string lights. We also sell a 6" x 6" option if that works better for your project. Love to see some photos of that finished project when you're done!

Hey, you'd have to look into the height of what you're trying to build, for a pergola it may be a bit too tall for a product like this. Check your local building codes.

​@@NuvoIronVideoshow the hell do you install the stairs railing with 12 spindles. Finally made it after numerous times trying it. Not impossible but damn frustrating.

Let me suggest something. If you drill the holes in top rail about 11/2 " and push spindles up and back down in bottom rail should be a bit easier, A bit easier!!

Our team always refers to that piece as the actuator as it is the part's technical name. A non-technical term would be the 'mover' as it's the part that connects the brackets together to help the entire system to move once put together. Some people also call these the 'arms' or 'connectors'.

It would depend on the size of the brace and material. These inserts do help with the strength of gates, and once you cut your gate, they fit snug and should help keep any cut parts in place. We also have a variety of designs and sizes of our inserts though, you can pick a design and placement that won't require you to cut into any of the bracing elements. Hi Matt, we have a bracket used for stairs called the SRC. It's the same as the DRC that comes with the kit, but for stairs. Check out the video for installing this kit for stairs. For angled sections, this will really depend on the project specifics but we normally see the wood itself cut on a slight angle to attach to posts for small angled sections on decks that don't have all perfect 90 degree angles.

Hi John, a railing install can definitely be more difficult depending on the project requirements and how comfortable someone is. There are a lot of different factors that go into building a railing, which is why we say the planning portion is important, but also that sometimes it can be easier to work with a contractor or deck building in your area. We also have two products that make railing building a bit easier, our rectangular balusters which surface mount to the rails, and our Pre-Drilled kits.

@@NuvoIronVideos My next project is this: I've currently got 2x2 wood ballusters on our deck & want to upgrade to the metal ballusters. I had a friend who just gave me for free 55 of the 3/4 inch O.D. black ballusters becuase his wife wanted the 2x2 wood ballusters for thier deck. I should be able to "pre-mark" the centers where each balluster is, remove the lower 2x4, pre-drill & mount the hardware for the ballusters on top & bottom, then re-install the lower 2x4 (With help) and transform our deck.

It's a real bitch to install.

Hi, they do not close completely flush, but for privacy or wind, the slats come close enough to block that and cover. But the way these are designed they arent flush, they seat on one another slanted.

Hi Jon, we have seen customers use something similar to a cane bolt or pole to push and pull them closed. A cane bolt style of rod can be a bit more helpful since it has a bend.
