Another first time visit and only here for one day. Well worth a revisit sometime though, hopefully without all the showers.
We did mainly reds in the morning and my Ebike broke some wiring before lunch.
Missed a good slab section because of that.
Managed to borrow a spare bike and did a few blacks sections after lunch, on a bike I'd never ridden before and was to small for me!
Luckily Me and the bike survived.

At the time of recording, June 24 the place has a few diversions due to alterations to the park. The old routes seem quite tired now but the new routes are ace. Plenty of climbing involved and sometimes for no apparent reason! I was last here about 4 years ago. After a long drive to our lodgings we decided to try out this ride as it started right outside where we were staying. Its quite a nice ride on an Ebike but a bit of a slog on a manual one. Quite rutted on the top with a nice decent down towards Peebles. Only we stayed at pub to long and the Garmin auto saved, so its only logged about 9 miles! before our shortcut back to the lodgings. A 50K race in the Algarve. My first race for about 20 years! About 400 competitors in various classes doing different distances all setting off from a Town called Alte. A brilliant route through some private land so no GPX route available. Four of us came home in the top 10, with a 3rd to 9th (me) in the Ebike class.

A brilliant ride on a new route to me. Only an 18mile loop, but we had similar miles of traveling to and from Silves. Lots of stopping for food and a walk around the Castle made it an excellent day out in the sunshine. What was supposed to be a steady away 21 mile Ebike ride that we have done many times before didn't quite go to plan! More of the White stuff today. Then again it is early March. The rides around this place are constantly different due to the weather. Two days in a wet and snowy Reeth. Staying at the Dales bike centre. Highly recommended as we were well looked after. A 21 mile anticlockwise loop that started off following the river Swale, Eastwards. We covered a mixture of new and regular tracks on a wet and sloppy day. A very challenging 34 mile day out even on Ebikes for me. It was extremally wet and boggy under foot that was too much for my fitness level! A stunning ride along the Algarve coastline. The panic in the square was a c02 bottle falling off the delivery truck and breaking the valve off, resulting in it spinning round in circles and emitting a cloud of white gas! After the white church we returned our bikes to the shop.

How much battery did you use on the hole of horcum/goathland video? It was a while back when you did it but it looks an awesome ride.

It could be a bit boggy in places and if you do the bombhole just after the main road, there's a good chance you won't be able to get out at the end unless someone goes the top way to pull you out.. But it's a ride with all sorts.👍
The centre driveway could do with a bit of a grading and re-surface…
Apparently it's on the to do list.

I’ve done a similar route to this on my normal MTB. Great route although a lot of climbing - I can imagine it’s more fun on an EMTB, particularly that climb to Middlesmoor 🤣
It's a route I first did on a Kona hahanna with no suspension and 26" wheels years ago. The ebike has transformed cycling for me as I'm now too old for traditional bikes. I'm back in the Algarve next week and I've been booked up for a race 😱. The rented ebike battery is going to get some stick 🤣
Enjoyed that. Often wondered where u guys went on this. Fantastic looks quite techy 4 a roadie like me. Normally go up water board rd from Lofthouse and thrn do loop of scar house and Angram on gravrl bike..... In market for a e mtb so 🫰i csn get 1 and give this a go
It's one of our favourite wet weather rides as its nearly 100% hard track that is ridable all year round.

@@marktownend3782 They are all troublesome Mark. Have a look on Rob rides EMTB forum and see for yourself. I would definitely go Bosch motor. Depending on your fitness levels weather you go full fat or lightweight. I have a mustache game 8 and it's pretty much been trouble free for the last 3 years with 4k on the clock.

Just wondering how much range you had left and what support levels you used?
I don't know because I very rarely have the Bosch system connected to my phone. Garmin says about 34 miles and I will have done the ride on the 625 battery. Although that was about 1 1/2 years ago when the battery was in better condition.

It was apart from the weather. About 40 riders turned up for it. I'm staying at the bike centre lodges for the weekend of the March ride with a few mates. Fingers crossed for better conditions.
Watching this tells me I'm not wanting to ride off road, I'm staying on black top.
And you are missing out on a lot of fun. Best thing I did was to stop road riding and start enjoying the off road fun.

It's about 30 miles. It has some boggy sections on it so best riden during the summer months. It's definitely a route I like and something I need to do again.
Must admit I bought one earlier this year. Love it but must admit that the bike is far more capable than myself but it certainly gives me confidence. It’s like rolling back the years. !!

I wouldn't be able to ride at all without one! Bloody expensive and annoying when they start playing up. But a total game changer for me and I've used them for the last 7 years now 👍
Its so much better in the dry 😃, I do a variation over High Pike then descending down Great scar fell wich is superb after a dry spell, then up Dash falls. It dose require some battery management but a great day out.

Thanks Andrew. The bottle holder is just cable tied on. I put some duct tape on first. It's very stable and easy to use.

Hi. It's near the main car park. Just follow the trail and there's some new sections before you go out along the fields. The pump track is somewhere around the bridge.

What an amazing ride out. I sold all my bikes a gear a few years ago and this makes me want to start riding again.
Well if it wasn't for the ebike, I wouldn't be able to get out. It was another enjoyable ride that would have been a lot better in decent weather 👍
