Oasis Definitely Maybe is a great album. But my favourite is the next one.. What's The Story (Morning Glory)
@@graemeknowles1431 mine to buddy. 👍
Alice Cooper Group!!!
I'm enjoying the daily videos Darren. I'll be disappointed when you take a break. I'm anticipating that this will be a tough one. I can't think that I bought many albums from 1994. Certainly not many on record. Most shops stopped selling LPs at about that time or soon after. I bought that Alice Cooper Last Temptation on CD too. It was a sequel to the Welcome To My Nightmare album wasn't it? Really good. I agree with you about the Proclaimers. Their first album, This Is the Story, helped me get through a divorce. I'll always be grateful to them for that. Never heard that Dave Lee Roth album. Nor the Neil Young album.
Love lists, enjoyed the run through of these, none would make my top 10 from 74 but it was good to see nonetheless.
How find you in tunein radio or other platforms? I like to hear the program radio.

@darrenjackson2965 Thank You.👍
I was born in '63 but was already very much into music at the time. Queen's Sheer Heart Attack has held down the #1 spot on my person favorite albums list for over 40 years. "She Makes Me" is very interesting because I think it is more or less a fever-dream set to music based on the time May was hospitalized in the U.S. with hepatitis. He's talked about the New York street sounds he heard at the time making their way onto the album, and the effect of someone jumping off a building to his death at the end completes the mood of the song very well. I don't think I bought KISS's first album or Hotter than hell until after I saw them here in Las Vegas at the Sahara Space Center in late May or early June of '75. What I saw was what you hear on Alive! I also like Hotter Than Hell very much, even if it is a bit muddy-sounding at times. The song, "Parasite," works with this sound perfectly. A big year. The other albums on my list might be different but fully agree with Queen and KISS.
There was a Bangles EP (self-titled) that came out in 1982 with 5 songs on it, but other than that, "All Over the Place" was the first full length album. That Long Ryders album probably is a UK pressing I think, at least my copy is on a different label, but it's a Canadian pressing. "Reckoning" is one of my personal favorites from that year, but I'm a big fan of REM. Never heard Wrathchild before. I try to get anything out there that I see from Zappa and that album is one that I've always had a hard time finding on vinyl, though I do have it digitally. Nice list!
1984 was a great year for music. I've not heard that Animalize album before. It was the one released after Vinnie Vincent was no longer in the band wasn't it. I've always quite enjoyed his guitar style. It's quite OTT on his solo work. I had to smile when you told about your missing Queen album on vinyl. I'm sure we all have some of those. I spent ages one afternoon looking for a lost Alice Cooper album that I knew I had. It turned out that I had some records filed under 'A' for Alice, and some under 'C' for Cooper. Twisted Sister. What a band. They were like no one else around. I have all their records. I collected them back in the 90s when nobody was playing vinyl. Didn't know that about Wrathchild. There are a few sources of that sort of Glam Metal aren't there, like the Hanoi Rocks and the New York Dolls before them...and Kiss of course, but I've never thought of how it eventually came to the UK. I know the band name so I must have read it on heavy metal compilations that I have. 1984 really was a great year for music.
The first W.A.S.P album is one of my favourites from that year. The first Ratt album too.
Animalize is a fine effort from KISS. Some good songs on it... Awesomeness list there Darren..
Dude like the video, but that black hair color is not working! Looks super fake! Try a more natural look, like use Control GX shampoo, keeps some of the grey but mutes it and also colors the rest a dark brown.
@@Strimbles thanks for the hair care tips ☺️
A super deluxe edition of Hotter Than Hell..4CD blu ray Dolby atmos mix. And a load of flyers posters et from the time period.... Hey I can dream.. Awesomeness list Darren..
I guarantee my 2 channel amp and preamp built in 1988 sound better than ANY Atmos setup.
Hi Darren, Great show. You may recall that I made a similar video earlier this year. I'm really impressed that we did not overlap at all. We showed completely different albums. I particularly enjoyed seeing that T. Rex record at the end. I don't think I've ever heard that one. I wonder Darren, did you see the the most recent video by James Griffiths? He listed what he thought were 'The 20 Greatest British Bands!'. It was an interesting video but he missed a few bands that I would have included. I'm thinking that maybe I'll make a response video to it with my own list of the 20 Greatest British Bands. Just out of interest, which British bands would you include on such a list?
@@johnbellamy3406 cheers mate. 20 greatest British bands, great topic. I'll look forward to your video on it and you can look forward to mine 😉📹
25p for Prince. That’s an amazing bargain! I think I paid a bit more than that for mine.
Here's my list - 10. Goes To Hell 9. From The Inside 8. Welcome To My Nightmare 7. Muscle Of Love 6. Pretties For You 5. Easy Action 4. Love It To Death 3. School's Out 2. Killer 1. Billion Dollar Babies

Hi Darren, I'm watching from Barry in Wales. Thanks for the shoutout. Mark Knopfler was on Dessert Island Discs just recently. He is a very interesting man. You know, I think that may be a reason why we are drawn to buying used CDs, that they are so cheap now compared to how expensive they used to be. Some CDs were so expensive in the late 80s and 90s that I had to save up for them. When we see something like that 3 disc Prince compilation going for pennies, we can't resist it. I do think that will change one day though. It wasn't so long ago that used records were so cheap. Nobody wanted them in the 90s. I've never heard that Queen album. T. Rex, I used to be a huge fan. In fact most of my T. Rex albums were picked up in Jumble Sales for pennies in the 1980s. I'll show them one day on my channel. Have a good week! Cheers
"from the time when I couldn't afford to buy new music" hits hard man. I used to work at a record store and would buy tapes when they went on Clearance. It's been about 16 years since I could actually afford any new CDs. And now the price for everything has gone up. I really want to check out 311's new album, Full Bloom.
Oh, and I am watching from Argyle, Texas.
You brought up a good point. It's great to collect music, but you need to make time to listen to them. I also just received the 20th year deluxe edition of Green Day's "American Idiot" and Queen's remix of their debut. I really like them both.

Great additions hello from Canada🇨🇦😀🐸
Harry Secombe must have been a very wealthy man. He certainly sold a lot of records. In Wales he was particularly popular because he was Welsh. Steeleye Span made quite a few records but to me they all sound a bit the same. I think a good Best Of compilation like that one is all you'll need. All Around My Hat will always remind me of when my girl friend and I bought our first house together. I had recently picked up a Steeleye Span record and we played it while we decorated the empty rooms. Happy memories. Thumbs up for Lilly. I bet she has chewed her way through half a dozen shoes already. My dog Sunny has just about passed his chewing stage now he is two, but for a while all he seemed to eat was my slippers. 😆
Awww🫶
And lily is cute as well.... Right 😂
Jim Reeves was the best singer in the world
Wow, I didn't know Steve Forbert was still making records, that's cool. Wow that Blondie cover did get pretty trashed, but it's the music that counts so it was worth it because you'll probably never see it again. I always end up regretting not getting an album with a questionable cover but the record is in great condition because I usually never see them again. Jack at Vinyl Martini just picked up that Slade album, and it was in pretty good condition from what I could tell. That was a lucky find for him because all the Slade albums I find are usually trashed. Love Suzanne Vega, great find there. Excellent pick ups!
Its such a shame that the Darkness didn't last longer than they did. They could have been the next Slade IMO. Dr Feelgood, Debby Harry, Suzanne Vega...all great stuff. Gene Vincent.. fantastic. Have you ever heard Ian Dury's Sweet Gene Vincent? A tribute to the man himself. Google it! Cheers!
@@johnbellamy3406 hi buddy. Yeah, I've got some Ian dury albums. The darkness are still around and I've seen them a few times. I picked up more great stuff yesterday, so I'll have to do another video soon before I get buried under a mountain of cds 😉
It's Gene Simmons from the band Kiss
@@Music.Movies.67 most folks say paul stanley, but I'll take it. Thanks for stopping by. 😊👍
Hi Darren, Looks like you were in the right place at the right time. It's great when that happens isn't it. You'll like that Kate Bush CD. It's one of my all time favourites... of all time. The whole album is beautiful. I can float away to that very well. That Roadrunner compilation looks interesting. Back in the day they used to have the 'Stop the Madness' emblem printed on the back of their album covers which was an anti drugs campaign. 👍
Nice pick ups! It's great to be at the right place at the right time. Never seen that Kiss compilation before & I collect imports. Glad you got to see their reunion tour. I saw them as well on that tour. 😊
Hi Darren that’s what call a productive lunch time .. CDs are so cheap these days I’m also always grabbing them .. Kate bush , foo fighters, and plenty more to investigate. I have that Steve miller album it’s a nice compilation.. Thanks for sharing
Congrats on your great haul of nice albums for this awesome price - I think, it was seven pounds. ;-)
The great thing about low priced used CDs is that one can be a lot more exploratory when picking up albums that look interesting. If you don't like it, then you are out very little money, but if you love it, then you know you can spend a little bit more when you run across another album later. Great pick ups! Can't beat the price either.
Awesome pick ups 👌great stuff
Gilbert O'Sullivan is a very underappreciated singer/songwriter, especially in North America, in my opinion. You do see his albums everywhere, but that is mostly because he is not classed in people's minds as a songwriter, aka Dylan or Prince, but I've always thought his songs were well composed and his lyrics very inspired. Even when he was in his prime, I respected his music while everyone else seemed to make a bit of fun at him, at least where I grew up. When I mention his name as a great singer/songwriter, people still kind of look at me sideways. Thank you for featuring him on this video. Royal Republic sounds interesting, I'll give them a listen. Nice find with the 4 Slade singles. I really like the Steeleye Span albums I hear, but currently have none in my collection though I do see them from time to time. I do like their more traditional folk sound. Nice find with the Snowy White single, that's something you would never see in North America. Great pick ups, quite a variety, and I love variety.
Jim Reeves has been my favorite singer since the first time I heard him on radio in the 1960s. To me, he is the best singer to ever make a recording. He is a hero to me.
Mr. Bad Guy has Curt Cress on drums from Passport. One of my biggest influences, bigger than Bonham, next to Ian Paice.
My fave is Easy Action - not sure who really wrote those songs but it is a very sophisticated album and the singing is superior. I had a patient who was surprised I knew so much about the old band. Her Babysitter was Dennis Dunaway's wife, Christie. She made the early stage clothes for the band. Easy Action! Got a rocket in my pocket! Refrigerator Heaven! Shoe Salesman...wow that was above the pay grade of most bands. Mr and Mrs Demeanor. Rocked my world at age 15.
I was going to say that. What no Tigertailz 😮
@@leatherwolf73 haven't got any in my collection..... 🤔
Love the video Darren. Just an idea: instead of going through all the monthly haul; pick 4-5 and give a bit of information of the album/artist (bit of a Wikipedia) to give some idea of the item.
Dada is 1983, not 1982.
@@ronslayton5270 see original pinned post
Trash was 1989, 1987 was Raise Your Fist and Yell.
@@ronslayton5270 see original pinned post
How about Young and crazy by Tigertailz and the 1983 self-titled debut album by Bridgend punks The Partisans, both absolute classics
Hi Darren, I had no idea Roger Glover was Welsh. Wow, has it really been 10 years since Lemmy died. And Steve Strange... he's another one that I did not know was Welsh. So what was the Welsh metal band you couldn't recall the name of? I'd guess it was either Budgie or Tigertailz.
@@johnbellamy3406 hi mate. I knew about Tigertailz and budgie but apart from tracks on compilations, i don't have any albums by them. The band i couldn't think of is skindred. Alas, i don't have any of their stuff either. 😉
@@darrenjackson2965 Skindred are a new one on me. In the charity shops of Wales there is never a shortage of Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones or Harry Secombe records. Surprisingly I seldom see anything by Shaking Stevens or Bonnie Tyler, but I've often seen that CD by Duffy that you showed. Cheers
Looks like you've got a great show lined up. I'll be camping in Norfolk later this week. I'll try to catch your show if I have internet access. Fingers crossed. Cheers
I'll check out the rock show. I like the Badlands Voodoo Highway album and I remember the Come out and play record with the pop up cover, got some great tracks on it
Hi Daren, I quite enjoy your monthly roundup videos. Another way you could get round the long videos is to just select your top five pickups and show those. It would perhaps make for shorter videos maybe. Well done with getting that Alice Cooper cassette. Cheers
