2005 CLK55 AMG - Muffler delete (w/Davico catalytic converter system)
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.5 лет назад
A quick cold start vid. My OEM primary cats were shot, so replaced with a Davico primary and secondary cat system, but deleted the muffler to experiment with the sound. FYI - CLK55's don't have resonators. This thing sounds like a race car, so not for everyone. I shot this with a Nikon P7700. Probably not the best acoustics in the garage, camera angle, etc. Better quality vids with external dri...

    Does it do the dance when you press the "lock" on the keyfob? The animation on mine activates when I "unlock" it but when I press "lock", it simply just turns off entirely. The only time I've noticed it do the animation dance is the leaving home lights. I've seen youtube videos where it still does the animation simply by pressing the lock on keyfob.... I don't know why mine doesnt

      @@petejr7583 Yes thats the "leaving home" light where it will stay on for a bit and it will do the leaving animation on the head/taillights. But it's just that every time you press "lock" it simply just turns off all the lights, which I don't get why that's the case but maybe its a EU vs US-law difference.

      Thanks. My other vid has me revving it (some dudes complained that I didn't have a sound clip of the car driving away so..). ruclips.net/video/gXfv6jr8g8g/видео.html Unfortunately this exhaust system doesn't provide a lot more sound than stock, at least to my preference (I think too EU restricted?). I mean you'll notice that it's definitely better, sportier in car and out, but not head turning. The cold start isn't that bad either. Some friends have the Borla/KPAX which sounds A LOT better. I should have saved $1,400 and just had the resonators or the muffler removed. Btw, I traded this V60 for an '18 V90 T6 Rdesign. It had almost no sound, except the crap 4 cylinder raucous when I hit higher RPM's. It really could have used a nice aftermarket exhaust, but then it would still sound like a low rent Honda. So I just traded that in for an AMG GLC 43 with an OEM loud as shit variable exhaust system. That V6 turbo sounds like it's ready for Le Mans (I know, it's a crossover, but it's fun!). Other than the Polestar cars, Volvo really sucks when it comes to OEM exhausts.

    Have an ice white FWD V60 D4 and I am located in Estonia. I am quite amazed how hardly it "climbs". Was there ice below snow? If there's ice below snow then no wonder it can't climb - only snow chains or studded tires have a better grip on ice. I use Continental ContiVikingContact 6 all season tires on my V60. Drive them through the year and been above Arctic Circle in Finland with them in January with perfect traction. Your V60 looks amazing and I love the wheels. :)

    • @petejr7583
      @petejr7583 7 лет назад

      Rivo Aedma yes, there was a layer of ice below the snow. Still, once I manual shifted to 3rd gear, it climbed fine. This year I put on Conti WinterContact Si to handle the ice.

    • @petejr7583
      @petejr7583 7 лет назад

      Nope, just better all season tires (4 season tires). I don't need snow tires for 2-3 snows a year. I replaced the original tires with Pirelli Cinturato "Plus" all season, and they work great. You also have to know how to use the Volvo Haldex AWD, by manually shifting into a higher gear, like 3rd, to lesson the torque.

      Yes, the OEM Pirelli P7 Cinturato's were pretty bad in the snow and ice, but I also had to learn how to drive Haldex AWD properly.

  • @v60polestar88
    @v60polestar88 8 лет назад

    All season tires are the problem. Don't care what kind of awd system you have. No grip with all season tires.

    • @petejr7583
      @petejr7583 8 лет назад

      This is not true. It completely depends on which all season tires and if you know how to drive. I now use Pirelli P7 Cinturato Plus tires, which have been great in the rain and snow. Another key is the manually shift the car into 3rd gear if you're spinning going up hill. These cars have a lot of low-end torque so you have to mitigate that with lower RPM's at the start. I don't live in the frozen tundra, so I"m not investing my money in a separate set of dedicated snow tires and rims for 3 months and 2 snows.

    • @v60polestar88
      @v60polestar88 8 лет назад

      Pete Jr Well I do live in the frozen tundra and all season tires can only handle so much snow and ice. Once the tread becomes full of snow and it's frigid outside they don't grip well no matter what brand you have. I owned a Subaru Impreza before and even with AWD it struggled on all season tires once the temps fell. Now wet slushy snow is another thing. All season and AWD can handle that with easy

    • @petejr7583
      @petejr7583 8 лет назад

      boondox max I don't live in the tundra, that's my point...cool if you live up north, otherwise why would you invest in snow tires for a few months and a few snows a year, but have average handling tires when it's dry. Regardless, why would I drive my lowered sport wagon in such rough conditions? To be a $55K smurf blue snow plow, then get stuck, snow tires or not? Dumb! These 4 season P7 Plus tires are awesome in most weather including few inch snow covered roads where I live. I just blasted up I95 through heavy snow and snow covered roads completely stable and secure, at speed. Of course I've driven in snow conditions since 1984, in rear wheel drive, whatever; most clowns these days don't have a clue how to handle snow. Once I figured out how to drive this Haldex AWD car up hills in snow, it's a piece of cake, with only good all season tires. Anyway, your blanket opinion on these tires is misinformed. Some all season tires are better than others. If I had only a front wheel drive car around here, mid-Atlantic, or if I lived where there's often snow and snow covered roads like up north, Id get dedicated snow tires. I still doubt I'd drive my lowered firm suspension sporty car in that crap though. That's what the lifted truck, jeep, crossover or SUV is for.

    how is the 4x4 of this volvo?

    • @petejr7583
      @petejr7583 8 лет назад

      It is good, though not as good as quattro. You still need good all season or winter tires and know to put the car manually in a higher gear on inclines, to avoid slip and too much traction control override since there is no "snow mode" any longer. In this video I drove in full auto relying on the Haldex and traction control, so you see too much wheel spin. Later I put the gear in manual (sport mode) and upshifted to 3rd gear which gave the car immediate traction with no problems. Audi quattro is kind of the same, in that it works better when you disable the full traction control, and let the all wheel drive handle clawing for traction. The main benefit to the Volvo's Haldex 5 is that it is able to electronically distribute power to any wheels where needed, "torque vectoring", for better cornering performance. It also gets better fuel economy since most of the drive power is in the front wheels during regular driving, until slipping is detected, then power is distributed. Most Audi quattros, not Haldex Audi's, distribute 50% to front and rear, all the time, unless traction requires further distribution, which uses more fuel.

      Pete Jr yeah but you mean quattro torsen,right

    • @petejr7583
      @petejr7583 8 лет назад

      yes, I don't count transverse engined Audi's as having a true quattro system (torsen). these (mostly "A" body) Audi's use the Haldex 5, like Volvo and many others. btw, i've owned 3 Audi's with true quattro AWD.

Driving the rest of the winter on crap performing winter tires? Not shown, but the car actually climbed great when manually shifted to 3rd gear allowing the AWD to perform with less torque driven wheel spin to manage. I did however replace this OEM set of all season tires with Pirelli P7 Cinturato "Plus" all seasons. They have excellent winter precip and ice grip, and yes, the rubber compound is designed to handle lower than freezing temperatures.
