Cracker Barrel Tips!! The Seasonal Menu was new so it was easy to navigate & full of colorful pictures. The regular menu however felt a little dated, wasn't as colorful, & was lacking the pictures. If you want a more current version of the same menu with everything in easy to find sections ( such as all the breakfast items that are served all day, all the seafood items, all the chicken & turkey items, all beef & pork ... ) & lots of pictures, they have their full menu also available online. Sidenote: My maple bacon glazed tenders ( sweet N' smoky ) were tasty in the restaurant but even better heated up at home. I put them in my air fryer at 400 degrees until warm & it was unexpectedly delightful! If you don’t have an airfryer I would give them a shot in the oven. The cornbread & biscuits took just a few seconds to warm up in the microwave, & were also still excellent! [The loaded hashbrown casserole tots never made it home! ;) ]

The Republic of Texas was created right here at Washington in 1836. It once encompassed all of the present state of Texas, and parts of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming. Dr. Anson Jones arrived in Texas in 1833, set up a medical practice, & soon became involved in the Texas politics. In 1844 he became the president of the Republic and served one year until Texas became the 28th state at the end of 1845. Soon after his inauguration he moved with his family to this Plantation which he named "Barrington after my native town in Massachusetts." The Anson Jones home was built in 1844 & moved to Washington-on-the-Brazos State Hisoric Site in 1936. The outer buildings were recreated based on typical Texas architecture of the mid-19th century and information found in Dr. Jones' journals, diaries, and account books. [ Texas had 4 presidents in total, he was the last & final president before it became a State. ]

Dr. Pepper's first advertisement for HOT Dr. Pepper launched in 1959. It was created to combat the drop in sales during the Winter months. It was advertised to heat the beverage over the stove to 180 degrees & to serve with a slice of lemon.
