FIXING A TIRE WITH A SLOW LEAK ~ NAIL IN TIRE
Tires go flat. Sometimes they'll pop and go flat in a few seconds but often, they'll have a persistent, slow leak that can be difficult to find. Today, I show you how to find slow leaks (sometimes caused by a nail in the tire) and repair them using a few simple tools. These repairs can be done at home or out on the road (if necessary). Let's get started...

NEVER BUY ANOTHER NEW BATTERY : THE SECRET OF JUNKYARD BATTERIES

F-150 FIX OVERHEATING BRAKE CALIPER / WHEEL BEARINGS / DUST SHIELD REPAIR (WITH A FEW HICCUPS)
Просмотров 9314 дней назад
The right-front brake caliper on my 2003 Ford F-150 seized while on a recent road trip, causing the brake pads to stay partially engaged, that in turn, overheated the wheel bearings, melting the grease and putting a downer on an otherwise happy day! All in all, an unwelcome event, but I limped home to make the repair. Let's tear into it and see what other fixes I find to do and how I got it don...

    Hi Craig, great video and demonstration on doing the repair, never seen a gauge do that and lucky it missed your eyes 👁👁, do you use the tyre pressures on the side of tyre wall and not the recommended pressures off the sticker on the door frame 🤔

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects 2 дня назад

      Really good point, Nev! I usually just put in enough air to comply with the tire manufacturer rating but most vehicles do indeed have recommended tire pressures front and back to maximize handling. Very good observation. I’m very glad you mentioned this!!!😀

    Nice video! I had to smile at the idea of immersing the tire in water as a roadside solution... I live on the edge of what might as well be a desert in Texas, not much water to dunk a tire into. LOL

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects 2 дня назад

      Up here, In western Canada, most roads will have a steam nearby but wetting down a tire by putting it under water is only a last-ditch event (even if you have water). I hear that covering a flat tire in deep sand and forgetting about where you buried it will solve many tire issues. LOL I hope you had a great weekend, Bill. Thanks very much for your comment. I have a 2000 Ford F150 4.2L V6 short box regular cab with manual transmission that I bought new back in 2000. It was my only vehicle back then. Since 2010 I owned other vehicles so from 2010 I only used the truck when I needed it. It now has 303,500 km. I changed the oil and filter every 5000 Km. Its been a great truck! Other than brakes and tires, I had to replace the alternator at around 260,000km and replaced the engine belt at this time and installed new shocks at this time. It still has the original muffler. I live in southwestern Ontario in Canada and for the first 10 years it was driven in the winter. If I need it in the winter now I only take it out if there is little or no snow. I am also on my third set of spark plugs and replace the spark plug wire way back at about 100,000km. The insulation on the old wires was breaking down and causing the spark to leak to the engine. This was causing the engine to lose power and hesitate when you accelerated. Today the engine started hesitating and losing power and the engine light came on. When I got home I connected my code reader at got P0340. I am old enough to remember when there was no computers, no internet and no cell phones and no You Tube, All I did was enter 2000 Ford F150 4.2L camshaft sensor in the RUclips search box and your RUclips came up. Technology is amazing and can be used for good things. Thanks so much for making this RUclips! I probably would have figured out how to change the sensor but you saved me a lot of time and aggravation! Thank You sir and also thank you for excellent lesson explaining how it works.

    This is a duct for pcv system? In the oil pan , my volvo problema with pcv before change the oil pan...

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects 16 дней назад

      Yes, this passage allows the oil separator (mounted on the outside of the block) to drain oil back into the sump. It gets clogged with oil deposits and backs up into the separator. It's a very common problem on Volvo. Sometimes, you can free the passage by blowing compressed air into it from the lower port under the oil separator, but if you cannot free it with air, the pan must come off to dig the oil out of the passage.

      @@EverydayProjects thanks for your response, I'll try it, because it already changes the entire PCV system and I have pressure in the oil filler cap (the glove inflates) and it smokes through the oil dipstick.

    What did you use to cut the connections that attach to fuel injectors I’m working on a Volvo too and the connectors from the cleaning kit are too big ?

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects 16 дней назад

      I used a pair of side-cutting pliers (some call them diagonal pliers), found at every part store. It does work well to make the terminal smaller. Good luck. What year-model Volvo do you have?

    Hey the pipe that you had to move on the final step when you were going to pull the sensor out, I took that bolt out and the clamp and the thing is just stuck, I’m afraid to give it too much force as I missing something

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects 18 дней назад

      That's a coolant line into the top of the water pump. It sits in on an 0-ring. Once the bolt is out, see if you can twist and pry it out. Should come right up out of there. Maybe a spray of penetrating fluid. Don't forget to put a new o-ring on reassembly.

      @@EverydayProjects when I’m turning the engine to get the synchro in position for the tool it hits a point where I can’t turn it any farther or it pulls back after. I apologize for the questions (I retyped this one with better phrasing) but do I need to open something due to the compression not allowing it to turn farther? Like a spark plug on cyl 1

    Just giving it a birthday can help ( pull down, clean & re-greased ), usually hits the spot, a good spray wd40 into the guts of the motor can’t hurt if you don’t dis-assemble that component also.

    Nice complete job Craig. Would the dust shield be easy to make out of light metal or aluminum. ? I thought vehicles don’t rust in BC. 🤭 Have a great day. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋

      I thought about making a shield from light gauge metal but the cup portion would have been difficult. Western vehicles don’t rust as quickly because the winters see a lot more sand applied than salt, in most places, and the coastal winters are mild. But they will rust out eventually. I remember buying a “western” used gas tank when I was in Nova Scotia, and it was shiny metal when my NS tank was finished. I also undercoat my vehicles with used oil and fluid film, semi regularly. It helps. Take care and watch out for wabbits 😢😅😊
