One thing that Nick said that really resonates with me is that he could buy and hold any MZ card or set he wants, but that he'd rather pull his own cards. He likes the gamble and that the main point is to open packs. Not much else I can add to that. But to me the experience wins every time even though more times than not there's nothing to show for it.

Pokemon was getting sort of edgy with Skyridge. It would have been interesting to see what might've gone in Jamboree if WOTC got to make it. I got into MetaZoo post-bankruptcy but I didn't think Seance was particularly rough, I didn't think about it looking different until I read internet comments. If the MetaZoo logo remains unchanged I'm so bullish on the Hello Kitty boxes you wouldn't believe. Unchanged logo gives total collectible continuity with the old sets.

I hope they kind of treat it like Pokemon where sets rotate like every year or two years so basically that just means they’re gonna rotate out all the previous stuff…. It still has importance to the hobby….. I hope they don’t have a game or like every single card ever printed is always legal

I did hope to complete the first block completely, a 1st block master set was my dream, and I was close, but now it seems its discontinued, so I hope the new team can give some 'ending/closure' to what was and move from there.

If the new owners are listening, I would like to say 'THANK YOU' for not letting my favourite TCG die. Heavy MZ collector, preferred it over Pokemon, but i was saddened by the death spiral and management mistakes. I am hopeful for your version of MZ and can't wait to restart my collecting :)

I'm probably the only one, but I liked the reverse holos in MetaZoo, especially compared to reverse holos in other TCGs. Not a fan of reverse holos as a general concept tho. Half a hit isnt a hit.

I just want to add that they said they intend to release Q1 25. Businesses operate under the fiscal year. We are currently in Q1 of fiscal year 25 (October-December is Q1). I’m expecting something in the next few weeks/month.

5 months is an insane turnaround for printing new sets, most games are 18 months out, would be interesting to see how they pull that off without leveraging old cards.

There's a lot of things I looooove about MetaZoo.

I’m hearing it’s just another new card game that is going to try to ride the coattails of an old card game that was ran by idiots. Hope it works out for them.

Personally pretty mixed on the seeming decision to restart the card game. It sucks the cards I collected will be unplayable in the new form, but the at the same, as one of the few people that ACTUALLY plays this card game, it really is a fucking mess. Icons changing from set to set on multiple occasions, icons being too small to make out on earlier cards, the largely arbitrary and overly complicated type advantage wheel and type bloat in general, badly balanced effects, the meta effect gimmick being kinda bad; an overhauled version with simpler effects, less types, and tighter gameplay would be really appreciated. I'm not sure how many would actually care in that regard as the vast majority that care about metazoo only collect or speculate (at one point in time) rather than play, but then again maybe people would play if the gameplay wasn't kinda dogshit like it is. Also, I hope they still go ahead with the SCP set somewhere down the line. I don't care for crossover stuff usually but SCP fits with the game's theme very well and would be probably the best way to get positive attention with a relaunch.

I think it's totally possible to replicate and improve the art style with different artists, but it's critical that they not fuck up the old design too much. I want watercolors and I want the red borders back. And Mothman was basically perfect and cannot be improved so just reprint it.
