Brooks Falls/Camp- Katmai Bears- Alaska- Coastal Brown Bear Photography-So many Bears!!!
We started preparing for our trip 18 months prior after winning the lottery to stay at Brooks Lodge. At this time, it costs $1125.00 a night and we stayed 3 nights in mid July. It's Alaska so be prepared with a flexible schedule and extra funds. We flew to Anchorage and then to King Salmon. Took a water taxi from King Salmon to Brooks Camp. I don't recommend the water taxi. Take a float plane. Strict rules when you arrive, you must attend bear school. Bear school is a good thing!!! Only meals are through the lodge and it's extremely expensive. You can bring and cook your own food only in designated areas behind hot wire fencing. If you are not in a cabin and you are camping, there are pla...

Many Pools- Zion National Parks Best Hike NO CROWDS! Did you see the Bison?? Hiking and photography.
Просмотров 5907 месяцев назад
Many Pools is an unmarked hike on the east side of Zion. You can avoid the crowds and explore this beautiful area as far as you like. The best time to go is when there is spring run off or a recent rain to ensure water in the pools. It is beautiful and offers many photo opps. You can drive your own car and find a place to park. The hike is not in the main canyon so no shuttle service. The Bison...

Kanarra Falls, Beautiful, easy waterfall hike in a slot canyon. Utah hiking and photography
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.7 месяцев назад
Go to Kanarrafalls.com for your permit. Yes, this hike requires a permit, which is easy to obtain. The trail begins in the small southern Utah town of Kanarraville. The water is always cold in that canyon, so just be prepared. It is a slot canyon and can flash flood in a storm. That is what washed away the old log ladder. Check the weather conditions. The new metal ladder does not have the same...
The Narrows in February- No permit- Out and Back- Zion National Park Hiking and Photography

In our opinion, the best time to explore The Narrows in Zion National Park is in the off season during the winter months. The number of people visiting during prime time is way too much for us, especially if you want to be able to enjoy it and take some photos. Hiking upstream from the Temple of Sinawava is about a mile along the walk before entering the river. Once in the river, it can be a sl...

How I Photographed the 2023 Annular Eclipse from Utah. Camera settings. Ring of Fire. 2 Utah Hikers
Просмотров 113Год назад
I decided last minute to try and photograph the annular eclipse. I didn't have an opportunity to get in the direct path but, I think I captured a pretty good ring of fire, just itself. I should have been more prepared at scouting a location to put something in the foreground. So, I slapped on a filter and shot the eclipse at 1200mm. Keep your filter on the entire time as the sun is not complete...

      @2utahhikers Месяц назад

      We made a day of it. It does not take to long from the water tank till you descend into the canyon, about an hour. Then, it just depends on how much you want to explore. Give yourself twice as long when you ascend to get back to the parking lot. It's all up hill.
