    One thing never covered, patients don't crash in the middle of empty classrooms, When and what stage to drag your patient in to space or attempt to manage them in situ.

    • @jasonsadler4402
      @jasonsadler4402 2 года назад

      Very good point, this video was purely for an OSCE. To answer your question, once you know the patient is non breathing and help is on its way, then move the patient so you have 360 degrees access, then start CPR. I hope this helps? I will plain to make a video with a patient in an awkward position (toilet area for example) and demonstate assessment and move patient prior to CPR.

      @@jasonsadler4402 That would be great Jason, including lifting/ dragging methods and turning technics, these videos have almost become a CFR course in themselves. When you are a peri arrest, its that decision, you know if you move them they could crash immediately, any tips, helps, ideas from your experiences would be most welcome . Mark

    Really helpful in fine-tuning clinical skills: especially helped my technique in opening airway (jaw-thrust) with suspected C-spine injury; head-tilt chin-lift properly explained in terms of gaining effective airway patency. This video demonstrates best technique I have been shown for insertion naso-pharyngeal airway, very promising to see use of this in combination with OP (oro-pharyngeal) airway.

    Nice straight forward video... regards PPE post COVID do you think gloves and Sanitizer become a standard for all patient contact or just where fluids are a risk 🤔

    • @jasonsadler4402
      @jasonsadler4402 3 года назад

      Thanks Sean, my personal view is that post Covid, as pre covid sanitiser should be standard before and after each patient, I believe it is good practice to apply hand sanitiser in front of the patient (to show them, and to slow you down, while doing your Scene survey) Glasses should also be standard for every incident. Gloves should only be put on at the last minute for bodily fluids and removed as soon as possible. During Covid gloves should be changed regularly, as soon as they become contaminated (whether you can see it or not) change your gloves regularly or you spread infection on your gloves.

      Thanks Peter, I personally always find this a tricky area to teach, it's all written down and individuals can learn what is written. But do they actually do it? Normally the human 'instinct' kicks in, so I believe this is about 'muscle memory', if we read this enough and rehearse it (whether mentally or physically) then we can make this our 'natural instinct' and stay safe, and be methodical, making us a good medic. Easy when you are doing this day in day out. Not so easy when first learning or you only do it once in a blue moon, or if you have to change habits. Hope you enjoyed the session?

    • @peterbenton4086
      @peterbenton4086 3 года назад

      @@jasonsadler4402 hi J', yes I agree that neumonic should be a helpful and practical (quick) way to access a memory...I think they can sometimes create a lot of questions which could divert one away from the primary (sustaining life) survey. I notice you clearly teach that the ABCde.... be re-assessed throughout the secondary survey.....that sits well with me 🙂 I try and challenge myself to understand a little greater depth in a subject.. than I may be routinely asked for in my nursing placements;. As you say....it takes lots of repetition to acquire 'ready-knowledge'; I appreciate your wish to raise the cfr knowledge base......and we can all improve our practice a little.....so I continue to watch the videos as a valuable learning resource. Peter
