Please make sure to unwrap your willow fully and check them on arrival. Removing the biofilm will also help them not sweat and help to avoid moulding. Your willow should be stored somewhere cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight, preferably off the floor on a wood pallet. What variety of Willow is this
That was the beat Willow wreath tutorial I've seen. Beautiful 😊
our pleasure and keep a look out for the next couple coming out with foliage!
Thank you, great tutorial. My project for the weekend.
our pleasure-please share what you get up too it would be great to see your work
Thankyou for your clear demo of this technique - much appreciated - when I tried a few years ago it was a total failure and mess but I think I could now do a wreath like this
Go for it!
Simple but so pretty. Another great tutorial from a natural teacher.
we think she is too!
A lovely simple wreath. Thank you for sharing your tutorial. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too and please enjoy the rest of our festive videos in the 12 weaves of Christmas
I had my first harvest this year! it was all very short and I turned most of it into cuttings to trade, but I kept the 2 longest sticks, about 2 feet 😅 is there anything I could use them for to commemorate the first harvest?
Happy first harvest! Mini stars might be the way forward- check out our star wands video as well. We suggest that you might use 6-8 inches for the wand stick and 1 1/2 inches per bend and the rest for weaving in, or make the hanging star without hoop. Have a practice first on some other withies before using your 'special' ones. Good luck!
Thank You😊
Our pleasure glad you enjoyed it
I was hoping it would be a lot bigger and 3-D so it stands - 1.5 meters or so. (I don't know if I am smart enough to figure it out myself. >_< )
Hi Mossy you just need to make it with longer and thicker willow to make it bigger than the one shown. I would suggest you use a 12ft withie for the uprights and 8ft as weavers to give you 1.5 mtrs tall. The picture of the tree next to the secateurs should give you a clue as to the size and 2 D nature of the tree we have woven in the video. Hope that helps.
Большое спасибо за урок!!! У меня всё получилось!!!
glad to be of help would love to see your creations
Great teacher. Love your videos.
Thanks so much!
You're a natural teacher. I love your videos, and although I attended courses, I return to the reassuring voice of your narration regularly. Good health and luck to you.

very nicely desribed and shown - I am confident to try this myself now - many thanks
What willow are you using please
Great explanation all the way through..thank you x
👍👍👍
Thank you so much for all you instructions! Wonderful and beautiful!
Are there holes in the base of the metal pot?
شكرا ليكي علي هذا الموضوع الرائع والابداع ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ بارك الله في هاتين اليدين باسم يسوع ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I've just been googeling finished trees who have a crown of leaves, and I'm loving it how they turn out after years! I have a willowtree and had to take of a lot of young branches and already, without this, I have to many projects in mind. This is one I will do! But I think I'm going to weave in metal rings or so to give the small birds around my house nesting options, still in thoughtproces but I can see how that could turn out.
Brilliantly explained
остается обзавидоваться.удачи вам!
10,000 years or more of expertise in willow basketry explained beautifully and clearly, thank you Rachel!

A big hello from Monmouth! I was born and raised in Lincolnshire, so it has been lovely to listen to your accent. It brings back many good memories. And this has been s delightful series. Nice and clear, not too much talk to confuse, and all set up in a homely placement. Congratulations. I hope you do very well.
Very useful, thank you for an excellent video. One question though, was this green willow cut mid season such as July or was it cut the normal time mid winter when all the leaves have dropped.
The video is awedome...very very clear to understand .i would like to know how to select the slath thick and thin.
the slath are always the thickest weavers in the basket and come from the butt end of your longest rods. The medium weight roads become your uprights and the thinest/lightest become your weaves- all you need to do is look at the whole bundle and sort into 3 sizes before you begin your project- gives me an idea for another video!
This is so beautiful. I will learn this and pass it on to my magical friends. Thank you so much 🌟
Ahh i just needed a few more seconds. Im doing a hazel fence with 1-2" rods and going to use this pattern
Please keep your Camera on the work, only on the lady when she is not working, the in and outzooming is very distracting.......I like the weaving a lot!❤
Is new growth on the way up to the top removed as it grows thanks
Your tutorial was absolutely brilliant. So clear with great videography to help me understand the process. I have only just started looking into basket making and would love to learn. I am from the uk but now live in New Zealand. Im heading back over Christmas (2024) for a couple of months. Will or can you provide lessons? Also do you know of any other alternative to willow that i could use. I think it maybe hard to source here. Willow is definitely calling me however.
Cheer~~~split or sever (something), especially along a natural line or grain.😊
Where do you buy willow?
I bought a small willow type tree (in a pot, like maybe £20 I dunno) from a garden centre, then on a whim cut some newer shoot branches off the next spring and stood them in jam jars of water for a couple days then planted in a pot and tended a bit. Most of the shoots grew to 6 ft thin trees same yr, now I can cut the branches off for weaving, willow grows back well I think.
Thank you for helping me.
I LOVE THIS!! Hello from Lake Charles Louisiana, America❤❤
FAB ! Such a lovely, educational and thorough example of such a delightful art form. Appreciated, thank you.
@TEPO - it was new to me! What a lovely idea ☮️
Your doing such a wonderful job. Here in Kansas, we don't have available willow. I love the style of these baskets. I just need something that is available here!
Do you have bramble?
This is a wonderful tutorial! Thank you so much! All the necessary details but not too much. I worked with unsorted and uneven material and not enough to be choosy, so the result is rather wonky. But it IS a basket. My very first 😊
Following from Northern BC Canada. We are surrounded by wild willow here! All different colors to ,thanks for sharing your craft 🌾
I made my first willow basket using your videos. I love that you go slow, explain everything perfectly, and that you timestamped it as well. I appreciate you as well as your channel ❤❤❤
How long does it stay pliable ?
Thank you for such a good description. It really helps me who cant afford to take a course. You are excellent in teaching. Lots of love.
