    this is lovely, thank you for showing all the steps. I'm a visual artist and have been toying with the idea of starting to learn how to hand engrave for some of my artwork, but it seems like a lot of the artisans out there are pretty opaque with their info and want to keep their tools and processes very secret. how did you learn? you are incredibly talented!

    It be cool if one of you jewelers tried some fancy patterns similar what you see in Damascus steel, like feathers and such

    • @MrMcsoccer20
      @MrMcsoccer20 8 месяцев назад

      I think the reason why is making this type of mixed metal involves keeping them at below melting temperatures and allowing to combine. It would be very difficult to fold enough times to create a Damascus pattern without losing the layers. A lot of Damascus is 300-500+ layers. I don’t have an electric kiln so have to do rough methods but when I make the pieces of metal thin enough to get even say 20 layers at the width of a ring it always ends up forming an alloy or the layers are mostly lost when finished. Possibly a mixture of the right thickness and exact heat could combine more layers together but still in the finished piece im not sure they would show right. Definitely not an expert and have been wondering myself, maybe jeweler who made the video will reply
