Underwater Rov Part 3
Просмотров 7 тыс.4 года назад
This is part three for the Underwater ROV. We have added a keel/sled for some weight to help sink it.
Underwater ROV Part 2
Просмотров 15 тыс.4 года назад
We have republished Part 1 if you want to go back and watch that one! Today we are starting a "new" project, an Underwater ROV!
I’m in First Lego League and I need an expert on ROV’s could you help me
@offbeat
You should coat your 3d printed parts with UV curing waterproof resin. 3d prints have pours due to the gaps at the edges of the layer lines so you need to coat your prints in order to make them water tight. Very cool build, Im a Mechanical Engineer, I love robotics so ive been teaching myself electronics to eventually build a maned underwater drone after many unmaned builds of course lol Its always been my dream to build a highly portable maned underwater ROV miniisub to explore the deep so its time to make this a reality. The goal is something that can go down to 600 meter or 1800ft
Hi. Where to buy the Thrusters.?
What a wonderful work! But may you explain me why did you put 4 motors ? Isn't 2 motors enough?
Hai
This reminds me of that one submersible that imploded while visiting a famous shipwreck. Strange...
there is a lot of water in Co... lived here my whole life.
looks great and pro built too!!
could you please tell us where you got the acrylic dome? i Have seen at least 5 people ask this and still 2 years later i have not seen a response. Thank You!
Could try using shot for loading shotgun shells for the lead. More precise and could be mixed with epoxy to contain the scary lead and to get it evenly distributed. Also paint the inside black to cut down on reflections.
Please get back to the sub videos
Very interesting design and very creative way to use those cable runners!
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Where'd you guys go? You made great videos.
oh and when you get 1k subs can you show us the sub
Can you please get back to the submarine! I'm really missing the sub videos. #OffbeatSubmarineBuild
from where you get the acrylic dome?
ive been a fan for about two years i love your submarine videos i don't know if your gonna upload again you deserve more subscribers good luck
Gee, it seems like it would have been easier just to buy some steel rod with a diameter as close to the ID of the PVC as possible, cut it to length and then slide it in. But hey, lead works too, I guess. I like the project.
Hello, me and my friends are doing underwater drone would you please help us for different purpose
plz do something:'(
Awesome build guys! Did you guys paint it t yellow? I like how the front and back are open You can put a huge LED lights up inside the tube cut through all the muck and Murky water you can never have enough light down there! I hope you guys added some claws and magnets? You know it will be cool attach one of those while Wowee robots with the articulating arms to pick stuff up with lol!
Get a bigger hammer
hey man, that is cool! I cannot wait to start my project!!!
Hey, just wanted to know when the next sub update will be, and if there is one.
hey guys how are you doing? What's the status on the Sub?
Where did you get the dome glass ?
How u make the domes
Just brilliant guys - as Confucius once said, "Man cannot build his second ROV until he has built his first." I'm no expert but really like some of your ideas here. The 18650 battery trays were nice and meant things could be flexible and self righting (and possible solve condensation issues in warm environments). I also liked the handle too as not only made it convenient to carry and launch (unlike every ROV on the market) but if reinforced can provide the ability to trace a strengthened recovery line down the tether cable. Solves ye olde "my sub is so stuck under a log" problem. Definitely think some work required on the thrusters as you identify. Having 4 for vertical and only two for horizontal movement is not well proportioned and also look into the thruster shrouds. My understanding is they only work to increase power efficiency when there is almost no gap between the propeller blades and the shroud inner surface. Otherwise they are very inefficient, although obviously do offer some protection to the propeller blades I guess. Only practical way to optimise this gap is to use metal blades as rotational forces at high RPM will deform the plastic blades to too much to be useful. Also the shrouds should be shaped so that they are narrower at the inlet and outlet to increase water pressure/flow. See commercial ones as they are almost always constructed like this. There is probably some optimal ratio of the propeller diameter/pitch and RPMS to maximise thruster efficiency as very high RMPs would result in thrust failure if water flow could not keep up (cavitation). Otherwise looking forward to your next ROV!!!
How much did this set you back. I'm looking forward to mk2. I do a lot of freediving and spearfishing and looking for a under water drone that will allow me to stream and record under water.
Under $200? It did take a lot of time though. And that is awesome! Keep us updated with that.
@@offbeat5678 will do. Next winter if I'm done with mine I'll be ice diving with mine.
Hey, you are okay?
Yes, we are doing well. Hope you are doing well!
Can you make a thingiverse project or a instructables project? thanks
Next version, we don't want to post one that needs lead to sink.
Hi
Hi
Mate, what motors do you use? nice job!
Really crappy Jameco motors (Don't recommend). Stay tuned for the next one
Share the stl files please
Next version, when we don't rely on lead to sink it.
Nice job guys!
You guys deserve more views. This is really cool :)
Thank you!

Hey! I don't know what language you are typing in but thank you for the comment!
@@offbeat5678 This is the Russian language. The comment says that I have become your 630 subscriber. I wish you success in your work.
good job. I was wondering if the maneuverability of the ROV could be improved by slightly changing the angles of the 4 thrusters.
Yes that would help! We will hopefully be fixing that on the next version.
Great design you should get More subscribers Good luck brother
thank you!
How is the Submarine going? And Congrats on the ROV.
Submarine is still going, and thank you!
I realize this is 6 months old. But you do know that melting Lead is poisonous. PVC is also toxic. I used to machine PVC on a lathe and had to wear an organic vapor cartridge respirator. Or it would make you sick. I'm talking about throw up sick. PVC is some bad stuff. That said I do like your project. You would be better off printing Kort nozzles instead of the PVC pipe around the props. You want to props almost touching the nozzle. The closer you have the prop to the nozzle the better. You loose a lot of efficiency like you have it. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Yes, melting lead is very toxic, that is why we had the fan going at all times and why we don't want people building this version. We are making a different version now with the type of props you are talking about. Thank you for the comment and the feedback
Can you tell where did you buy all things
We mainly used Amazon and local hardware stores
Joseph + Andrew…. Great job on ROV! Hoping your back now to working on Sub. Looking forward to another update on sub… and Q&A. Started collecting propane tanks and steel to build my own sub. Few questions…. 1. Porthole windows - in-depth on how to build them and materials used 2. How connections thru the tank remain water tight… electrical wires, spinning shaft to propeller, etc 3. How to figure out size / weight of sled needed for ballast… 4. Lever / connection on how to drop ballast in an emergency rapidly 5. In-depth on how to build / water tight hatch 6. How to build steering / rudders / Connections Hope all is well with you guys. Hope to see more videos / hear from you guys soon. Take care. James
Thank you! 1. We are still working on the portholes. We will document that process. 2. A lot of silicone and epoxy, and we don't have a shaft for the propeller going through the hull, the motor is external. 3. Gallons of air needs to equal the weight of water. 4. You drop the weights, the ballast help you float, and we haven't designed that part yet. 5. Will do. 6. Will also do. Thank you for the questions, hope that helps.
Happy New Year…. I keep checking to see what you guys are up too… hope all is well. Can’t wait for an update…
build one onto the iphone 8 its water proof
We would but iPhones 8's are expensive
Are you going to share the build plans
im rlly sorry for the late reply but i was making this so i needed a base i made a 3d model u can download the .glb file here drive.google.com/file/d/1S1mDf8PV2s503-ltnXBcwjE79c0oWjSH/view?usp=sharing and use this link to view it gltf-viewer.donmccurdy.com/ it really rough i used it for my base
Next version, when we don't rely on lead to sink it.
Now you have a camera to film the sub when that old thing is seaworthy!
That's the plan!
I'm totally going to build one of these. Awesome job!
Thank you! And defiantly send us pictures of the final version
Now get back on the SUBMARINE! 😁👍
Will do, we have been filming we just haven't posted it quiet yet.
