The whole battle between the Lambily and the Fighters in this comment section from many eons ago is weird. From a standpoint from somebody who's both a fan of both Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera, people need to stop comparing the two together in such bad ways. Who cares about album sales or vocal technique jargon? They're two singers with unique sounds from two different worlds. You have Mariah, somebody who has a very beautiful timbre to her singing voice and is classically trained as a singer, then you have Christina, a self taught blues/soul singer who emulates the sound of her heroes (especially Etta James) and has a more mature, darker voice that has been praised by the people she was inspired by like Whitney Houston, Patti LaBelle, and Etta James herself. However, I do recognize their faults as singers. Mariah doesn't have that flexibility to her voice like she had during the 90s and Christina's technique is so extreme that without proper training with a teacher that specializes in gritty singing (yeah you can actually try to emulate her raspy belts in a healthy way if you are training with somebody who teaches rock style singing) or if you immediately try to emulate her without easing into it, you could injure your voice. Even though I see both the good and the bad in their voices, they are still remembered by me as some of the greatest singers of our time.

if you are a singer, it is disrespectful to be lip syncing, unless you are particularly ill that day and your voice is affected tremendously. if your voice is not as high as it used to be, then sing in a lower register, there is no shame in that. people pay bucks to see and hear you live, so give it to them.

i think the easiest way to see if they’re lip syncing or not is if they do the exaggerated movements, like making their face look tired as if they were singing a high note or when they lean all the way back and “sing”.

Sorry to break it to y’all, but her live vocal range for this era is actually C3-F5-D6-D7. All headvoice and whistles in this are lipped as well as the F#5 and G5. The live D7 was actually an accident, she was going to hit the head voice D6 note in I Still Believe and accidentally hit a sustained D7 with vibrato lol. Then she proceeded to do the D6 in headvoice after that perfectly. Lol. Also that F5 was one of the healthiest we’ve heard from her at the time since the Charmbraclet era.

I fing it hard to believe that G#5 on the yellow suit is lipped. She keeps the same tone through the line, and as some say, just the G# is lipped. Maybe a part of her insecurities are from this type of comment, when she does good stuff, is lipped, when she does bad, she lost her voice. Haters and even some "woke lambs" give this image.

Hey Calvin you thought about making a new one? You have easily one of the top 2 best Mariah vocal range video on RUclips. I'd love to see you include more recent notes since she's released 2 albums and a bunch of singles since.

Mariah rarely use head voice, besides she has a poor head voice production. She mostly relies on her falsetto and whistle.

More people should watch these kinds of videos. Perhaps they might see the absurdity of the pop industry at the moment. If the singer isn't singing live, then I see no point watching. Why should I? If the dance routines are too strenuous, simplify them. If the vocal techniques are too complicated, cut them out. If the register is too high, lower it. We don't accept this kind of mediocrity in other industries. If these people don't want to sing live, they should find another job.

I have a very deep respect for Whitney Houston RIP. She sang live often. Courageously, even when her voice was damaged she wanted to do a live performance. She could have taken the short cut the lip syncing route, but did not.

Also when you sing live, without lip syncing, singer can change the song version in a better way. Lip syncing may give the singer more confidence when they are performing in stage. Unfortunately, when singers do not write their own songs, they may lack creative courage. I miss this.
