      I didn’t do much comparison. Originally I was going to go with the Canyon Sender but it sold out. I think it also had SRAM brakes which I hate. This came with TRPs and Fox which is rad. Also have buddies riding the V4s and one on a V5 and they all love them.

      I’m about 160 with gear and I am on a 500 lb coil. I was told by Commencal and my local shop I should be on a 450 or 475 coil. 500 feels really good tho.

    Sweet trip! Planning to do it next year. You mention med almost 3 days of flying? Is one week enough for this trip? I plan to do 3-4 days of riding.. what are your tips in going there? Many thanks!

      I’d say I’d want 12 or 13 days off work for the trip. That might give you 5 days of riding and 7 days on the island. I flew from Vancouver BC and had a 16 hour layover in London both ways. Stay in old town if you can. Way more fun down there.

      If you ride gnarly DH trails go Kenevo. If you want something more well rounded for a lot of variety go Levo. I love my Kenevo and would not go Levo for the PNW and BC gnar but they are both great bikes.

      @@LoamerMTB see I’m in England so trails aren’t as gnarly unless your at a bike park but really I’m only interested in the downs not really into techy climbs or anything like that so I do want a bike that’s great for going down but can do a little bit of climbing too and capable of a big single track ride maybe once every couple of months

      Yes with the climb times the Spur destroyed the Spire! The more I ride the Spur that faster I’m getting on the DH too. This bike rips. I’d prob go smuggler for a one bike quiver but the good news is whatever choice you make will be rad!

    Answer- Ride the blacks there and that's why. hahah When I rode there I was shocked as to how good they actually were and how many there were. Most trail networks would have maybe 10/20 good trails.. Def seems like it adds to the trail ratings.

      So funny thing is the first trail is a black. The last trail is way gnarlier and is a blue 🤷‍♂️ But yes the PNW/BC rating scale is tilted a few notches up in general 😂 Gotta be careful out here.

      I broke down and paid the shop to do it. I tried to drop the motor but it started to get too involved so I said screw it and let the shop deal with it. This bike sucks to wrench on 😂 Yeah some sick jump lines around here! Blessed with some talented and dedicated builders for sure. 🤘

      I ride the Spire more because some of the zones I ride are just too steep and gnarly for the Spur to feel safe. I am riding it more and more at Galbraith tho! It handles all the stuff up there great!

    I purchased a spire Alloy and I am having some issues regarding switching to a rear Coil Shock. How much do weigh? What pound spring are you using?

      @@user-oi5ik2ev9l I weigh 160 lbs with riding gear. I am running a 400 lb spring on a rockshox coil shock with 2 out 5 clicks of the HBO (last 20% of travel becomes more progressive to prevent bottom outs). Compression is fully open and rebound is pretty much almost fully open. Just a few clicks to slow it down a touch. This puts me at about 30% sag and I’ve never felt a bottom out. Feels amazing. I ran air for a few rides recently at prefer coil by a lot.

      @@LoamerMTB thanks! I am 185 pounds and I’m riding a DVO Jade X coil shock with a 425-500 progressive spring. 170psi on the bladder and rebound set half way (14 of 28 clicks). Feels great on descents, but Kind of feels like it might bottom out on moderate jumps… I tried the next spring up (475-575) but apparently it is too much for my weight. I am a bit lost at the moment.

      @@user-oi5ik2ev9l If you have a few bucks to blow you could give the next spring a try. Might be a bit less sag but if it feels good and prevents bottom outs it might work. Is there a compression setting on your shock? Could try firming that up a bit as well.

      @@user-oi5ik2ev9l I miss read that. If you’re already a on the spring above your weight and still bottoming out I have no ideas. You could try a rockshox with the progressive coil and HBO but that’s an expensive upgrade. Honestly I might just run the air shock the bike came with. It’s pretty badass and you’ll be able to dial it in perfect. I just personally prefer coil but if I was bottoming out I’d just run the Fox float X2. It’s a fun setup. Can boost on that thing.

      @@LoamerMTB there is a 3 position lever (open, mid, closed) and an air bladder. I got the next spring (475-575) but it feels really awkward… with little preload it is hard to match both suspensions for a bunny hop for example.
