Toni Kukoc game winning shot & ending vs Milwaukee Bucks Nov 1993
In just his first week in his NBA career, Toni Kukoc hits a big three to put the Bulls ahead of the Bucks in the last few seconds. Then, Toni's defense forces a travel on Brad Lohaus to seal the deal. (Yeah, I know, Kukoc & defense aren't often in the same sentence. Not unless, it was a criticism.)

    What sticks out to me in this game is the defensive quickness and the hands of the Bulls; the Knicks were sloppy and it cost them.

    • @justjoe4775
      @justjoe4775 Год назад

      The Knicks were more of a physical defensive team as they basically adopted the Detroit Pistons "Bad Boys" style. A lot of hand checking, bumping, & hard fouls. Although the Pistons never had a shot-blocker like Ewing. The Bulls had, what assistant coach Johnny Bach called, the "Doberman Defense" where they used their quickness to overplay the passing lanes, surprising double teams, & traps. The Bulls' D made other teams use up most of the shot clock that they barely had enough time to set up their offense or even get a shot off. The best example is in the early 2nd quarter 28:44 to 29:07. By the time McDaniel gets the ball, there is only 5secs left & then the shot-clock violation.

      Yeah, the 2nd Bulls championship team (91-92) is generally considered the strongest of the 1st 3-Peat. Besides Pippen, Grant, & Paxson, Da Bulls had Craig Hodges, Cliff Levingston, & an improving BJ Armstrong providing a lot of offense off the bench. Then, for defense & rebounding, they had Stacey King, Scott Williams, Will Perdue. Especially against Patrick Ewing, the Bulls had a lot of big bodies & fouls to throw against other teams' elite centers. Jordan has a strong supporting cast during that season. It's a shame that Da Bulls didn't resign Levingston & Hodges for 92-93 championship. Trent Tucker & Rodney McCray (Ugh! 😒) just couldn't provide the same production at all.

      @@MarkTarmannPianoCheck_it_out Maybe I'm the "old man" who screams from his porch or at the clouds but I've become so tired & even bored at today's NBA players for shooting so many 3-pointers per game. Yeah, today's players technically do have more skills & athleticism than the 80's, 90's & early 00's, as most of them can dribble, pass, shoot 3's, etc. But nearly every team has tried to copy the Golden State Warriors & all the teams play the same way. Up until 5yrs ago, a 3-on-1 or 4-on-1 fast break would result in a layup or a dunk. Now, instead of running towards the basket, most players just set up before the 3-point line. In the 80's & 90's, you had so many teams with different styles. The physical defensive teams like the Bad Boy Pistons or the NY Knicks. Half Court teams like the Utah Jazz with Stockton & Malone. Fast paced teams like Run TMC with the Golden State Warriors. Even balanced teams like the Pacers with inside scoring (Smits), shooting (Reggie Miller), & physical defense & rebounding (Dale & Antonio Davis). When I watch the modern NBA, all I can think of is whoever makes the most 3's wins the game. It doesn't matter about the defense, rebounding, inside play, etc. anymore.

      @checkanr138 2 года назад

      @@justjoe4775 3s is kind of boring nowadays yes. it is statistically too good of a shot that is why people have trained so much to get good at it, because the business that the NBA is, demands it. i am not sure how to fix it, on one hand shooting 3s clearly is an artform, on the other hand, getting to the basket and people being able to do it by tricking the opposition has kind of been limited by this trend towards more outside shooting. maybe they need to change the way the baskets count, so 3s does not get you 50% more points as opposed to a midrange shot. maybe score a normal basket 3 points and a "3 pointer" as 4 points. sound a bit crazy, as the games would end up with much higher results, or you could count the 3 as 2,5 points or something, that way the 3 is still valued higher but the game will probably put less emphasis on 3 point shooting.

    • @justjoe4775
      @justjoe4775 2 года назад

      @@checkanr138 I don't know how to fix it either. I thought about pushing the 3-point line maybe a ft back, but guys like Steph Curry, Luka, Damian Lillard, Clay, etc., shoot 3's way beyond the line, almost at half court(!). Would have little to no effect on them. Then, I was thinking about limiting the amount of 3's a team could make in a game. For example, once a team makes ten 3's, all the other baskets are only worth 2pts. Or how about 3's would count only in the last 2 minutes of each quarter. It would take a NBA President with some guts to make those "rules" because a ton of teams (especially Golden State)would protest them. I don't want to ban the 3-pointer, I just want to see a good balance of driving to the basket, post up play, inside scoring, & perimeter/3pt shooting. 🤔

    It was all a front and an image he had to uphold. He wasn't really that tough.

    They broke that nucleus up because the NBA changed from NBA Basketball to NBA ENTERTAINMENT. The billion dollar contract with NBC as Jordan was made the face of the league because of his popularity. Stern was a businessman and he made a business decision to rigg the league. It's no longer basketball, its sports entertainment. Kinda weird that Drezen Petrovic, Len Bias, Reggie Lewis mysteriously passed away and the Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill & Derrick Rose career altering injuries to protect the Jordan legacy. Yes I'm a saggitarius and we tend to go too far sometimes but I'm right AND I'M BETTER THAN YOU AND EVERYONE ON THIS COMMENT THREAD AND YOU KNOW IT!!!😂😂😂 #BitterPacerAndPistonsFanKissMyAssAndRestInPissDavidStern 😂😂😂 I feel bad for those knicks teams especially Patrick even tho I was a Piston & Pacers fan. Thinking back as a child how mainstream media I meant LAME-STREAM MEDIA tricked us all into wanting to be like mike and socializing us and conditioning us when there was other great talent in the league who was cheated out of championships because of Jordan & Phil Jackson living in David Sterns office bitching about the physical play. This is why the league is soft AF today which has trickled down to our lame ass soft ass society today who see the truth as hate speech. Yes lie to make me feel good so my illusions wont be destroyed. Amerikkka gives an illusion of freedom smh.

    AYOOOO X-MAN was crazy. He pushed OAK. That’s a death wish right there but X could always handle his own. Him and OAK had a fight in 1989 😂😂

    Person had a history of going after the smallest guy on the court. Years early he did the same thing to John Paxson.
