The terrible swings in temperature (and atmospheric pressure) are horrible in Calgary, not necessarily the cold itself (aka Chinooks). Also the very very dry air. Some people like that but my skin used to be stretched and feel like frozen sandpaper. I had dry blood in my nose all the time. Not living there anymore. People will brag about how sunny it is year round but so is Inuvik...

Such a beatiful bird. I have been watching a lone mandarin recently, that associates with mallards. This clip shows the shape and colours of the plumage very clearly. I have been struggling to sculpt one in clay. This will help greatly.
