If the cervical spine has already adjusted forward due to forward head posture, can these still be done?
Yes, but you will have to start with a higher pillow or neck support. Try to relax the neck into a neutral position before you start.
Is the treatment itself painful?
If you do the prostration as the Muslims do in their daily 5 prayers you will notice it's exactly the exercise you are teaching , infact even better cz when you're in the prostration, the weight of lungs and heart is naturally lifted off of the diaphragm making if easier to put the rib cage in :)

Hi Christy, make sure you are not over using your superficial abdominal muscles, rather the deeper transversus abdominus. If you are doing it correctly, that pain should reduce as you mobilise your ribs and thoracic spine with the exercises. If it does persist, then you may have more stubborn unhappy joints or muscles that may need releasing by a professional.

You do the first excercise on the floor and not a bed like yours, you get scapula winging because there's nowhere for your shoulderblade to go :)

Hi! I am about to do the exercise and I'm having second thoughts about it. In my case of rib flare, my left rib is the only one protruding. Is the exercise shown still applicable to my condition??
Yes Elineko, it is a safe exercise to do. You can focus on the left side and drawing that side back into the floor a bit more. You may have a curve in your spine that has rotated your rib cage slightly. It is not uncommon, and this exercise will help.
