This is the reason they wanted to crack down on mods, not because of nekked armor in the game. If you can get a mod from nexusmods that give you in-game currency, they'll lose out on that real world money. I think they will wait to see if folks can bypass their security and use mods in Wilds before they introduce in-game currency. Once they are confident that they can safely offer extra content that can earn them more profits, then they will add it.

A pay to win feature would ruin MH, straight up. Which is why Capcom is almost certainly never going to do it. MH depends on you grinding your gear the hard way. That's what gives the game value and replayability. Being able to just straight up purchase, for instance, Fatalis gear at the start of Iceborne would ruin progression for anyone who buys it, making it a negative value for the player, and for Capcom. It's why the community always advises newcomers to avoid the Defender gear.

How can you have "pay to win" in a strictly team player game? Lets say they add a pass that lets you pay to skip or progress in the story. Who cares? Why does someone else's game play effect how i play?

For people who don’t understand, a lot of laws were passed in the last two years over in China, about paid to win and gambling and login bonuses and most of these clauses are inputted into the user agreement because of those laws in China This is why if you look at once human in their clause, it states that you need to factor authentication and merge different IDs onto the game to be able to play but if you just download it and start playing it never ask you for these user agreements are written as for every country, the exact same it doesn’t mean that your country follows parts of those user agreements

There's a reality in which it could just be a first-party currency for Character Edit Vouchers (yay) and something like World's Lucky Vouchers (useless), but in truth, each release is getting more avaricious, trying to squeeze the "I care a lot about this game, I want all the stuff" and FOMO players. 😒 Iceborne (eventually) had some good sales on a few bundles that were 100% of the DLC, but Sunbreak is still a bunch of mixed bundles and loose items which are never less than 25% off. For as long as people continue to excuse this kind of behavior as, "iT's JuSt CoSmEtIcS, bRo," "yOu DoN't hAvE mOnEy, BrO?" it's going to get worse every time.

Paid currency is not new in Capcom games. You could buy itens and in-game currency on Dragon's Dogma 2

If its just cosmetic and they still release free cosmetics as they did in the past I won’t be mad. If it becomes all cosmetics are paid and if there are any paid progression items I will sadly drop my favorite series. And I hope everyone will for at least long enough to get capcom to wake up.

For anyone who was around before gen 5, World and Rise were confirmation that whatever came next would push micro transactions even further. We’re about to see this now with Wilds

This video is garbage. Game servers aren't perpetual and neither are console shops (I.E. the Nintendo Store on the 3ds.) If their service goes away, you lose everything you paid for with it. You've never owned ANYTHING digitally and it can be revoked or removed (we've seen this with movies you've paid for being removed from streaming services like Amazon Videos.) California has even passed a bill citing that digital download games that REQUIRE online (this does not explicitly mean multiplayer) must state that you are merely buying a license to play the game as long as it is accessible. This is all extremely basic EULA jargen to cover their ass from lawsuits and this clown is trying to use it to say Monster Hunter is becoming pay to win or like it's something uniquely bad with Monster Hunter.

@10:40 Capcom already has precedent with this, DD2, Hopefully they learned from that, and don't let the games media go buck wild with their speculations, and tainting the launch. This could be nice, as of currently, MH Rise and World you can only get cosmetics with DLC, purchases, but if they enable a feature where you can get it with in game currency it would be nice. As you could never get those things before, unless you paid for them. We will see how it goes.

Althought I agree with the aparent mayority sentiment of trust in the MH team and i don't expect them to turn it into a mobile like hellscape. I do belive it is importasnt or this to spread, to make the comunity awar and to create a sentiment thhat keeps Capcom honest and away rom interfiring with the team's vision. At moust, I imagin them going wild with dlc and fomo costumes. Worst case scenario, I could imagine them doing something like allowing to buy tickets for an elder melder like system that allow you to bypass farming of matirials you have unlocked or could get yourself, without the flashig "Buy gems!" all over the screen.

As long as this is limited to cosmetics I don't mind. If they start selling quest facilitators or unique reward drops that mess with RNG, then it's a problem. I was going to pre-order but won't anymore, depending on how this debacle develops.

Monster hunter rise has 253 DLC, Monster hunter World has 230 DLC. If it's added in game via a currency, rather than listed on the store for £ or $ it doesn't really make a difference.

If it actually gets P2W stuff... Everybody has to decide for themselves what to do. I personally pass on paid games that have microtransactions in them, with a few exceptions, like MH: World, which did cosmetics. I'm genrally fine with that. But stuff like gameplay influencing things, paid mods, and especially premium/virtual currency packs in paid games. Just no. I'm not fine with that. I'm ok with ingame currency in F2P games. Not in paid games. Give me the game for free and incentivize me to spend in it. Not ask me to pay $70 and then "oopsie, buy the SuperDuperCoin to unlock extra items! Tee-hee!" White hot poker up your anal cavity, Capcom. ANybody who defends this is either stupid, genulinely dumb, or a corporate doorknob polisher, which is around 7 rungs lower than an actual prostitute on the societal ladder.

I genuinely can’t stand Clickbait like this! Capcom has stated multiple times that monster hunter would never ever utilize pay to win tactics or battle pass systems, especially once wilds was getting more and more popular. They had an interview and someone legit ask them this very question and they said no we will stick to Howe. We’ve always done it every single thing you can purchase in this game is cosmetic only with no tactical advantage even slightly this game will be fantastic. It will not have micro transactions and other pay to win nonsense.

There is no p2w, there hasn’t been any p2w in any facet of their releases ever. Not once, they even said several times there is no way they would ever do it. Not even in the mmo online version did they have it.

Expect the worse and you won't be disappointed. Thanks for breaking down the possibilities Capcom might pull on us. This makes me not want to get the deluxe or premium versions anymore. If they're going all in and possibly put in such a thing as timed exclusive cosmetics (and there already could be already one, in the form of that pendant you get from playing the demo and using that character for the main game), then I'll just hold off against getting any of it until something I really want shows up in the horizon that could be timed and expensive.

So premium currency equals there MUST be paid decos, guts tickets, easier quest requirements. Also can you actually get to the point faster because 20 minutes of this is getting to your point.

I’m ok with them monetizing cosmetics, tbh. I’ve always thought that they should let you buy any layered armor in the game Granted it be at a reasonable price and with the option of farming materials for it instead.

I’m not worried 😟. This been going on and will continue on. Have self discipline and just don’t buy it. If it’s something I want I will buy it. We the people have the power. If it’s CAPCOM gets out of control I just stop 🛑 playing the game.

the only thing you can do to voice your disagreement with these practices is to not buy the game. but since everyone prefers to play a new mh game even under those circumstances, myself included, this is how it goes and will continue to go. this isnt new as well. this is just the direction gaming went. gaming has become a multi million dollar business. you deal with it or you dont. pick your poison.

Would I rather play games with horseshit gameplay and excessive monetization like Thorne and Liberty? Or mediocre games with no monetization like Space Marines and Helldivers? The inability to get character edit vouchers in-game for free in World and Rise was unacceptable. But of course, this game will not get even a hint of the pushback Dragon's Dogma 2 got.

I wouldn't want monetization to disrupt or amplify the gameplay loop. If I can spend real money on items that can be farmed or my shop access is changed (The paid for half of discount sounds like a worst case scenario) I would be really disappointed. The only other Capcom games I have played outside of MH is Street Fighter 6 and their battle pass feels lackluster but also none of the things you pay for in that game change the core fighting game if you don't get them. Its also a complete different genre so MH would be approached differently I assume. If they are gonna put payments to increase or block off core game features in previous games such as shop discounts, weapon upgrades, or drop rates boosters(this seems like a possibility which sucks) I'm just gonna keep playing World and MHGU. I don't want my love for the series tainted by constant pushes to buy things that alter the game play loop in a significant way.

I thought Monster Hunter World's form of monetization was toeing the line of fairness. Cosmetics are a large part of the appeal of Monster Hunter and when the highest-effort cosmetics are locked away behind a real-money paywall, that's aggravating to me. That sort of behavior is most commonly seen in free-to-play games, not games that demand full price from you.

i think its as simple as "buy gold" from store or earn by just playing the game. I dont think we are gona see a "special"vendor that accept other currency , its going to be just gold .

Free game currency is used before paid game currency. I'm not a lawyer but i would interpret this like the sharkcards in GTA 5. Which would be a bad thing. Battlepass is also a no-go, even for cosmetics. Capcom would do better if they gonna take Monster Hunter as this well though out and beautiful game that Monster Hunter is and let people who have the money pay for layered armor/weapons/cosmetics/music because those people see this game and will just fall in love with it. The same strategy they did with world and rise would possibly be way more effective than introducing a paid game currency. If they would go with cheap tricks like battlepass it would lower the quality of the game and all the effort the Dev's have put into wilds would be obsolet. And pay to win would ruin the entire franchise

I’ve left every game that has done this. Battlepasses end up making me feel like I have a second job, and I start wanting to spend money on things I don’t need or won’t end up using. Always, I get the first Battlepass and a thing or two. It’s early in the game and I’m enjoying myself. Always, after around 2 months, it makes me leave. For good. I expect the same thing here and was excited for this game. Still am, but I’m sensing it will be short-lived.

I won't buy the coins. If the system is really going to be p2w and not just skins, I won't buy the expansion. I don't think this will save monster hunter because I'm sure that crap is going to pay off for them massively, but at least it will save my wallet.

Monster Hunters payed things have never had transactions that aren’t purely cosmetic.

Decorations, Talismans, Armor and Weapons are my hard line. If it's all cosmetic I don't care, the moment it becomes optimal best in slot shit that's unobtainable elsewhere I'll just go play the older games.

The program "may include". The fact that it's here doesn't mean anything until we see the in-game currency, anything else is baseless speculation. Legalese is legalese, "may" isn't synonymous with "will".

Bro chill out lol, i hate loot boxes and crap more than most but as someone whos played good games like Path of Exile... Having cosmetics being the paid feature is a good thing, it's NOT pay to win. Also they are going to have 4 currencies not 2 and 1 paid but 1 and 2 being your money and 3 being freebie coins you get from achievements and stuff and the 4th being paid coins so anyone who actually grinds out daily and weekly quests will prob stack up enough coins to get what they want maybe not everything but i don't think the monster hunter franchise is going to screw over their playerbase like that with how much work they put into making good games....
