Yeah unfortunately Zack died 😭 I’m sure the comments say this somewhere but remember in the OG when you went to the Shinra mansion basement and it showed that flashback of Zack helping Cloud out? The SOLDIERs shoot Zack and ask what to do with Cloud and they say to just leave him because “he’s as good as dead anyways” that’s the scene happening at the end here

As you realized(begrudgingly i guess cause you did t want it to be😅) Zack does die at the end... Aerith senses him dying, which is why she had that sudden reaction in the church...up until then she thought he was alive and probably moved on since she had not heard from him in over 4 years while they were being experimented on.. The confusion you feel over Zack surviving in Remake will be explained somewhat in Rebirth...it has to do with the lifestream and the whispers, The easy explanation/rational is that Zack has to be dead for Cloud to have the Buster sword, since there is only one. The two who came to get Genesis were Nero and Weiss from Deepground which you saw in the Yuffie DLC where Nero was the last boss who killed Sonon...they are expanded upon in Dirge of Cerberus the ps2 game with Vincent Valentine as the main protagonist...the game takes place 3 years after the end of the original FF7, and 1 year after the movie Advent Children. You could check it out or watch a playthrough of Dirge to get context...

When the people are fading to white that’s Zack forgetting them and only thinking about Aerith until the end When Aerith is praying in the church she knows someone is returning to the planet then she realises it’s Zack then cuts to him Also in one of Aerith’s dialogs in this game she says she’ll only wear pink because of Zack :(

Enjoying these. If you run out of emotional games to play after finishing (hopefully) FF8 and FF9, I recommend Nier: Automata and Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Umineko in particular is a large time investment but I promise you the juice is worth the squeeze. There is nothing like it.

I've been a fan of FF7 since 2001, I've played them all and I've been following everything since then, and I'm also very confused about Zack in the remake. I hope nojima doesn't end up ruining everything with this "crazy" thing. great video!

So glad you finished this game before continuing with Rebirth so you can get even more of the backstory. A lot of your questions are explained in it. As to Cloud's personality, it becomes merged with Zack's due to the mako experiments between the ending of CC and the beginning of the OG game, hence why he acts so differently. Not sure if this would be a spoiler since I'll make it as free as possible, but I'll put a tag so you don't have to see if you don't want, but as to why we see Zack in the Yuffie DLC... There is a reason Cloud has those "flashbacks" of things he shouldn't know, the Whispers, and why Aerith sometimes acts cryptically. I won't say how they are tied, though.

Zack did die. In the new games you will notice that "Stamp" changes as there are original timeline changes. I have loved Crisis Core since I played it on the PSP way back when, I still cry whenever I see that ending. When I saw Zack live in remake I lost my Sh*t, I was so excited, I had waited about 15 years for that 😀 and the original PSP game did have that little bit about Cloud at the end and I remember thinking it was so cool cause it went into the start of the OG. Okay so lets explain timelines... I will use original Aeris name for OG vs our current Aerith in remake. So Original game happened, then we expanded that universe of original to see Crisis Core and how Zack dies and Cloud gets the sword and ends up in midgar where OG takes place. Advent Children takes places 2 years after OG, following Cloud and gang dealing with geostigma and remnants of Sephiroth and Jenova. At the end Sephiroth says he will never be iust a memory. Remake: Original Sephiroth has traveled back to tne start of remake and is changing events as tbe whispers are fighting against him. As we play Remake Aerith has way too much knowledge of the original timeline from telling cloud he cant fall in love with her to many other things that hint Aeris OG is there helping guide Aerith as well. When we get to destinys Crossroads this is literally the absolute divergence of how the story differs from OG and begins its clean slate and changing destiny, that ANYTHING is possible in rebirth. As spoiler free as i can give it.

I so want to describe my theory about Cloud but I dont want to spoil Dirge of Cerberus or later story. However part of my theory is that when Cloud ans Zack were in the tank the only memories Jenova in Vloud could feed on was Zacks. So Cloud being there and feeling like a failure allowed a multiple personality to come forth as Soldier Cloud. Replicating Zacks fighting style and memories of when he watched Zack and was with him. Jenova just manipulates memories. Shes a manipulator.

She could sense Zack returning to the planet. She hadnt felt him retuen in 4 years KNOWING he was alive... then one day he died and returned to the planet not knowing why. Little does she know its because he was saving Cloud.

Remember Genesis dream was always to give Sephiroth one of his apples. Instead it was Zack. Also yes that is Director Lazard

You in denial was priceless lol ❤ that’s why it such a huge deal when Zack appears at the end. Def re watch the end of remake and you can kinda see how suddenly things changed. The remake series will stay true to the story as much as possible but they introduce this fate scenario and how it’s possible to change fate . Rebirth will dive more into this but it’s a wild ride and rebirth is absolutely amazing. And in addition, if you go back in your playthrough when Zack suddenly wakes up and finds cloud -- you don’t realize how much time went by when they got captured 😅

Since you played remake before, it's sephiroth that takes control of the whispers after the party beats the whisper boss. He can manipulate the timelines. After that...you got to play the next game to find out as I don't want to spoil, hah...

Haha, this was cool. Keep in mind that this game is the prequel to the original VII. Not the Remake. You'd think the two would be interchangeable in canon, but again, that's why all the old players still had so much to speculate on with the Remake project. I'm all on board for an Advent Children reaction vid and/or Rebirth, haha, but i would highly recommend reviewing Remake in your free time. I know you mentioned going back through the first chapters and noticing so much more after playing the PS1 original, and it's like that the ENTIRE game. In fact, Crisis Core will even improve the quality of Remake. Beyond obvious stuff like the ending and Zack's presence, there are references to "Type G," SOLDIERs, Kunsel, and even Banora dumbapple posters in Mako Reactor 1. FFVII has such a deep and rich lore, and it indulges heavily in referencing itself. It's a pandora's box of storytelling. Along for the ride and hype as always, dude. Was fun sitting in!

I'm sure others will explain it aswell but just to help out, see FF7 original and Crisis Core linked. Zack did die on that hill overlooking Midgar trying to get back to Aerith and passing on his will to Cloud and in Clouds broken mental state is stitching memories together mixed with his desire to be in Solider so it creates his persona we see in most of 7 original until Tifa helps him find his true self FF7 Remake is kinda messing thing's up as its making the story we all fell in love with for new players way more confusing and even my gf who has only played CC, 7 Remake and 7 Rebirth is really confused because they're playing with multiple timelines as we see at the end of 7Remake. Zack isn't supposed to survive but they're showing a what if scenario and you'll see more from there going into Rebirth but yes Zack did die on that hill in the original games story

Since you played Remake first, you probably didn’t understand what a big deal the ending was when we saw Zack.

Yes sad to say the remake did not do any favours for catching people up on the story. Ff7 remake is a sequel to the regular ff7 games masqueraded as a remake both to serve the purpose of the remake ppl have always been waiting for while also not repeating the old games and revealing itself to be a new story about fate and multiple timeline shenanigans. Youll notice after you compare all the things that are new or different in the ff7 remake are places where the Whispers appear and they will always make an attempt to force the original games' story to happen. The final battle with the whispers is to break their fate (FF7) and open the door to a new future (FF7 Rebirth onwards). I have mixed feelings about this whole things because it basically means people who only pick up the ff7 remake do not realise that theyre walking into a story decades in the making instead of starting at the beginning like they think. But i also appreciate their attempt to create fresh new things for people who have been around since forever ago haha. Im glad you liked the game and sorry it gave you some confusion, but to rephrase Crisis Core leads up to original FF7, FF7 Remake is a new timeline with new things in store. I hope you do take a moment to watch Advent Children since youve now played 7, Crisis Core, and Remake. And maybe on your own time with all this new info you might watch or play FF7 Remake again and notice all the intricate details in it that add so much to the story. If you want more info but to come to your own conclusions, I highly recommend watching the cutscenes from the end of Remake starting immediately after the highway motorcycle minigame/boss fight, when they see sephiroth again before crossing through the wall of Whispers. If you want some basic info that some may consider spoilers, I'll include 2 details below. ... ... ... ... ... 1. Yes. Zack died at the end of Crisis Core. Then how is he still alive at the end of Remake? Excellent question. All I will say is, remember the party fought and 'killed' destiny/fate. ... ... ... ... 2. Crisis core is the prequel to FF7; it is not a prequel to FF7 Remake. Take from that what you will.

Hi, your confusion comes from not playing the games chronologically. In the original story of FF7 (1997), Zack and Cloud get experimented on by Hojo after the Nibelheim incident for 4 years. Zack is deemed as a failed experiment by Hojo as the Jenova cells don't take to him and he retains his self. Cloud is more susceptible but the experiments causes him to have mako poisoning, putting him in a catatonic state. Zack escapes and takes a catatonic Cloud with him. As you see, he dies just outside Midgar. That's it. Cloud takes his Buster Sword and the mako + Jenova cells really mess up his memories and he has a mix of amnesia and identity crisis. He doesn't have Zack's memories, but he puts himself into Zack's "existence." He lethargically drags himself into Midgar where Tifa finds him slumped near the station. This is where the Jenova cells inside him activate and they read Tifa's memories to build a persona that Cloud exhibits in most of the original game of FF7. That cool SOLDIER persona is a mix of Cloud's desire of wanting to be a SOLDIER like Sephiroth mixed with Tifa's expectation of what she thinks Cloud is. Throughout the game, there are glimpses of the real Cloud coming out, such as when he fell into Aerith's church. Aerith, being the high EQ person that she is, starts to learn that Cloud is not really what he portrays, even though she initially became interested in him because his mannerisms and eyes reminded her of Zack. This is why in the gondola date and right before her death, she keeps on telling Cloud that she is looking for the real him despite his confusion. She also tells him to focus on taking care of himself and to look for himself. It isn't until way later in the game where Cloud, with the help of Tifa, finds himself. Tifa is the only person left from Nibelheim who actually knows Cloud as a child and gives him the proof and confirmation that he existed as Cloud Strife who isn't just a puppet or a clone created by Hojo. After that, Cloud explains to the whole crew that he never made it to SOLDIER, that his mind just made it up because he was ashamed of his own failure and insecurity. Everyone still accepts Cloud as he is himself, and the game continues to the end. Advent Children happens, and Sephiroth comes back from the remnants of the Jenova cells. Geostigma happens. The world is healing but it still isn't fine. The ReMake Trilogy basically shows us what happens new worlds, and one of those worlds where Zack had lived. The introduction of multiple worlds which are borne from divergent decisions as we see Zack branching into different dog timelines depending on his different decisions. Sephiroth is trying to converge these worlds together so the energy of people's pain and despair can be used to fuel the continuance of the Planet. Anyway, the Re Trilogy is a whole other story and gets pretty convoluted. I would explain further but the comment is already becoming too long.

I still cry every time I see someone play the end of Crisis Core as I cry everytime I replay it. I love this game. Is not perfect, it's goofy and a bit rough but oh does it have so much charm and love in it. I played FF7 back in 1999 and it's made such a mask on me and even back then Zack becameone of my favorites just because of that small hidden cutscene in Shinra Manor. Then Crisis Core came out in 2008 and I got a PSP just to play it and Zack has been my fav FF character since then. Can't wait for your playthrough of Rebirth ❤

I don't know how to write this without saying too much but I understand your confusion so here we go: Zack died. That's it. The original story of FF7 and Crisis Core makes that very clear. The Remake and Rebirth games twist the story in that regard and tell a new story of Zack. It made me extremely confused especially at the beginning of Rebirth. You'll see as soon as you start the game that the story doesn't add up with Crisis Core and this is intentional! If you want to know even more read the comment I wrote under this one.

Even though we knew how the game ended with that cutscene in shinra manor when we played the original FF7, NONE of us were ready for it....

I liked to make an Hp++ materia and added 99 fat cocobolo feathers (fusion items) to make it give me 999% Hp points 😊. You can either make your own Hp++, win it from Mission 1-1-5, or get it from a chest in Mission 2-3-2.

So Cakerins, you are almost done with Crisis Core. I truly was hopeful when saying this needed to be played first that it would be hugely helpful in understanding parts of rebirth. I wont give spoilers away but I was wondering what you have thought? How do you think this is going to end my friend? Anyways two great vids, intergrade and finishing this up. Yuffie is hands down key to my team in fighting for rebirth. When you get there would you like pointers for battle?

You gained a Item called Status Ward (materia i think) it helps ward against status ailments like silence and poison.

Lucky Stars doesnt just give you critical hit. It also increases the DMW by the level of lucky stars. So it will make your DMW activate more often.

Don't feel too horrible about the machine mini-game. I had to redo this several times for the trophy, and it took longer than I would like to admit.

I played this when it first came out and I literally have HUNDREDS of hours into this game because I love reliving the story <3 I want to warn you about FFX-2: Many of the fan base hated it because it's so different from X but the story is all about Yuna and her journey trying to find him., There are THREE endings you can get and it's dependent on how much completion percentage you get by the end of it. It is near impossible for a first time player to get the Perfect Ending as you need 100% for it, but the Good Ending is pretty easily achievable. It's a very nostalgic game though with much of the percentage points involving revisits and whatnot but it's very satisfying seeing many of the characters from FFX in it. Enjoy!

Yeah, Hojo is a real piece of work. Infecting his own son with Jenova cells while he was still in the womb, in order to create the perfect monster. I can definitely feel for Sephiroth at least. Poor guy had it rough from the start. As for that battle with Sephiroth, I don't remember the materia he brought out with him, as I took him out with like two hits from Costly Punch. Glad to see you made it out OK!.

I liked using: 1. Curaga mixed with 99 fat chocobo feathers for the hp 999% stat. 2. Electrocute for groups of enemies 3. High Jump if I wanted to avoid getting hit (Aerial Jump is also cool too because it's like High Jump but you get healed everytime you hit enemies) 4. Energy because it deals massive magic damage 5. HP++ 6. Double cast At the end of the game I mixed most of these materia with 99 each of the fusion items for max stats. You don't have to have max stats to beat the final boss though.

Looking through the keyholes just help for the upstairs puzzle. Also the water turning red, if you looked inside the water tower you would have gotten a summon. Pheonix i believe...
