Decided to combine 2 sets of videos of different dates. The first is June 29 with an intermodal and the Boone local. Later on July 11, I start out at Jordan for an intermodal. Following Friday I went out again just to get recordings of this horn. Caught this locomotive several years back but had a more generic horn then. Got a shot of the train on both the Ottumwa and Laredo Subs. Due to circumstance, I was only able to get 2 shots. But I was able to have 2 quiet shots away from the crowds and that's the name of the game when catching mainline steam.

On a very windy day, CSX #911 lead the westbound local out of Waterloo. Luckily my first shot was in a small valley so it was more tolerable. But back on level ground, the wind was bad enough I quit getting more video after the train headed south on the Ackley Sub. This os such a great setup for the movie. You got the drum beat clicking like a second hand on a watch, very precise. But then you got the jazzy part, showing you they're laid back when they have to improvise. And music is basically about timing & tone.
This is a one of a railfans favorite sound to hear
Spectacular video. There’s a few stretches on the Reading & Northern’s main line (primarily in Molino and New Ringgold on the one-time Reading Company Little Schuylkill Branch between Port Clinton and Tamaqua) with some very well-maintained jointed rail that’s good for up to 40 miles per hour.
I got to ride on those rails last August. Glad they still have a stretch of that.
