Matthew applies to the Jews. In the Old Covenant the Lord promised them a time of trouble like there has never been (Jeremiah 30:7). The details of the scene in heaven that John describes implies the church is already in heaven, I.e, Rev. 4:1 representing the rapture. I thought that Revelation 4:1, when the angel said "Come up here" was specifically for John. I have always interpreted the 24 elders as being symbolic of the 12 sons of Israel, and 12 Apostles. Though it really is hard to tell. I think the multitude in Revelation 7 (And Revelation 15), who survived the great tribulation is the Church. Thank you for replying, and putting your time to do it

The natural division between letters to the churches in Chapters 2-3 and John being called up in Chapter 4 cause me to consider the phrase “after these things” as the key. I do think the identities of the 24 elders is not certain. Though I personally believe it to represent the 12 sons of Israel, and the 12 Apostles. Revelation is certainly an interesting book. I think the "after these things" was probably a change in subject thing. I think Jesus will return for the Church after the great tribulation. I based this of off my reading of Daniel 12, Revelation 20, and 1 Thessalonians 4 where they all mention the resurrection

Read Ephesians which tells of the church and the manifest destiny. Gentiles in the church are not proselytes. The church was not seen by the Old Testament prophets.
