    Thanks for your video! What I’m wondering is: the whole idea behind the Feeder strategy is that Google focuses on Max Clicks and consistently drives new traffic, which is why we don’t include conversions in this campaign. If we switch to Max Conversions, does that mean we need to have a conversion goal?

      Yes, you need to move back to having the conversion goal. The idea is that once you have the campaign optimized set it to Maximize Conversions and test how it impacts the business.

The broad match keywords can then pick up the signals from the exact match keywords. I’m also struggling with finding the optimal structure, which is why I’m asking for clarification.

    What do you do with the negatives for the broad match keywords? I'm still getting lots of impressions on broad keywords that not 100% fit my product. Or just wait it out? On the other hand, if this does not work, how long would it take to roll-back the last good campaign (learning curve i mean)

      Typically, you wanna have negatives in the broad campaign before you even launch it. And then set up cadence’s based off of the conversion volume on adding negatives that way you can make sure that you give time for the algorithm to work. I think there’s a lot of different things to consider when it comes to the last good campaign, what bidding strategies was using, what conversions volumes was it getting?       Hey! For several accounts I put in a Max CPC on the max clicks campaign and it does extremely and more than breaks even. You just have to look at where the CPC go higher and you're getting a diminishing return.

Quick Q - would you start with this campaign for a new recruitment B2B client, or would you recommend starting with high intent max clicks (I saw John mention this on a Tier11 live) and then switch to the broad match feeder strategy after? Unsure whether to start with broad to build more data quickly, or start with high intent max clicks... Thanks!

      Yes, but the biggest issue with maximize clicks is that it typically starts off really strong and then gets broader. That’s why adding in negatives every hour is essential. There’s certain industries and services that do better with maximize clicks and keeping things on exact match only (no close variants) and then there are others that just perform better out of the gate with maximize conversions on broad. It’s dependent highly on if Google can predict the conversions or not. Is there decent search volume & are there other advertisers bidding on the same thing?

    How many weeks before you were able to see consistent stable results? First two weeks my Non-brand and Brand CPA way down. My overall account spend down 35% but conversions remained the same so huge savings. Last week I increased my max clicks budget so it was spending as much as my tCPA campaign but seems like users haven't completed customer journey and there is some sort of conversion lag as I only broke even. I reduced my max clicks back to 25% budget this week hoping to even things out and wait. Thanks

      Hello Mark, do you know what the typical conversion lag is? Also, for increasing budget, what I recommend doing is as long as your getting good results add more budget to the broad campaign. Monitor if it’s spending its complete budget and as long as it’s getting you results then continue to increase. Once you can spend anymore start to increase the max clicks campaign. It’s likely that (if you’re not) adding in negatives every day to your maximize clicks campaign that increasing the budget made the search terms go more broad. That’s why I typically just focus my maximize clicks campaign on my keywords and have my negative script automatically exclude every other search term. This is so that it can stay focused on my chosen keywords. There’s a lot to unpack here but let me know if you have any further questions. What’s more common is to do a non-brand and a branded optimized product feed, but what’s different about this strategy is the automated rules for the budget to keep the CPC’s lower and keep the bid aggressive plus focusing on the highest converting search terms.

    Hi Artur, I have a question. I sell personalized jewelry gifts on my Shopify store that come with a meaningful message card for all occasions only in USA. In this case should I create 1 shopping campaign have multiple ad groups wherein each Ad group is a product category like Ad group 1=Birthday gifts, Ad group 2= Anniversary gifts, Ad Group 3=Graduation Gifts and so on? OR Should I have 3 Seperate shopping campaigns i.e 1 for each product category like 1 for Birthday gifts, 1 for anniversary gifts and 1 for graduation gifts?

      This is a great question. It depends on Budget primarily when it comes to segmentation. If this has account history and conversions I might encourage possibly splitting it up between best sellers and everything else (including the best sellers). That way you can put 80% of your budget towards your winning products and then test out the remaining products with a safe budget. For really getting specific with keywords and negatives, you could do multiple ad groups but Google will mostly likely spend more of its spend towards 1 of those 3 ad groups. This seems like something that can work for sure on Google, but it may even work better on Meta due to the personalization and seasonality piece of it as well. It may also not be as saturated on Meta. Have you tried advertising on Meta? Send me an email about your business, I’d love to give more specific advice about your business! I don’t love giving out generic advice! Every business needs a unique approach that’s going to work best for them!

      Hi, I typically use maximize clicks for the feeder search campaign. If I have a couple winners search terms I’ll go to manual CPC if I need more control. Sometimes I’ve even used maximize conversions if the situation calls for it, but it’s mostly maximize clicks. For shopping campaigns I’ll use either maximize clicks or a low tROAS depending on the situation.

    Great video! Quick question: You mentioned that the Target CPA should be 6x the actual CPA, but what about the daily budget? When I spoke with Google reps in Dublin, they advised that the daily budget should be at least 2x the Target CPA. For example, if a client’s Target CPA is $100 and you multiply that by 6, you get $600. Then, applying their advice, the daily budget would need to be $1,200. This seems quite high and unaffordable for smaller businesses. What’s your take on this?

      Great question! It’s “nice” if you can get the budget to that level but not necessary at all. I’ve got campaigns spending $35 a day on tCPA’s of $150 and it’s achieving $60 leads. That’s just one example. I’ve got other campaigns spending $100 per day with tCPA targets of $2000 achieving $400 leads. I also have campaigns spending multiple $1,000’s a day with targets set at $50-$100. Those campaigns learn much faster. Just make sure that when you have small budgets you give it the appropriate amount of time to learn. More budget means faster optimization. That’s really the biggest principle, which means especially for smaller budgets you want to let it breathe and not make changes for a while. Any change you make to campaigns will give Google another thing to test and learn instead of optimizing it tests. Also, take what a Google rep says with a grain of salt. They are basically sales people put there to make you spend more.

    Another question: How many conversion do you recommend and how do you start you’re campaign?

      Hello Mark, there’s so many variables that it can be different for every unique situation. Most people say that you need to have 15-30 conversions before you use smart bidding strategies, but I’ve seen it work out of the gate with no conversion or account data at all. Could you specify what you mean by the second question of “how do you start your campaign?”
