Lucy Smith is a 21-year-old singer/songwriter originally from Bunbury, Western Australia. Lucy was in the Top 50 of Australian Idol for her rendition of "Pleasure and Pain" by the Divinyls and quickly became a fan favourite despite later being eliminated. Now living in Perth, she is pursuing burlesque and working towards releasing music as part of a band.
Lucy Smith Australian Idol 2023 Audition Tape # 2
Here's another audition tape I sent in for Australian Idol 2023. The producer's asked to see recordings of several different songs before I got on the show. Some acapella, some accompanying myself on keys.
In this one, I'm singing Pleasure and Pain by the Divinyls which the producers ended up picking to be my TV audition song. (My first choice was a Lana Del Rey song but I think the show had issues getting the copyright so we went with Divinyls instead).
I also sent in covers of Fleetwood Mac, Fiona Apple, Nancy Sinatra, and Carly Simone. I'm sure there was more that I can't remember.
It was an exhausting process that sucked all the fun out of music. #australianidol #Divinyls #auditions...
