Great playing, you should boost the audio of your playing more so you can here what you did on the cover more because you can here most of the other parts way more than the bass

As long as you're getting the sounds you like, I dont think there's any wrong technique, but this isn't quite slapping. You're plucking with your thumb instead of bouncing your thumb off of the string. Slapping is a technique where you struggle with making it work for a few weeks, then it just suddenly clicks and just works. Don't be discouraged when trying to nail it down! Also, it's something I'm currently struggling as well, but try to focus on anticipating the beat. Especially when you're playing with a track that already has bass, it's really easy to drag behind without noticing. I realize that this comment could come off as rude, but I don't intend that at all. If you're enjoying bass, then you gotta let that groove take you to the next level! If you don't already know it, "Forget Me Nots" by Patrice Rushen is a classic song for learning slap. A more modern suggestion would be "Treasure" by Bruno Mars. I'm currently working on "Get On The Floor" by Michael Jackson.
