music is irritating!
Do you know where your mute button is?
So what do you look for when you fly these survey missions? Do you run the camera and review the video later
Single pilot, no camera. Mostly looking for oil leaks.
@@Underthewingpodcast are y’all hiring?
@@PaulthePilot55 sorry, I no longer work here.
@underthewingpodcast HI! What state was this in? I am looking into doing this so badly but don't know where to look

This is my new favorite loop!
Music sucks.
Thank you
yeah it does... thats California s*it music.
I'm
I work in the Permian basin and see pipeline patrol planes above my head all the time!
Dang!
Stunt jump failed
Just wondering can you build cross country time as a Pipeline Patrol pilot?
Absolutely! Majority of the routes will take you more than 50nm away and you’ll need to stop for fuel at some point as well. Most days will be cross country.
What is name of company please? I would like to apply.
This was filmed at American Patrols
@@Underthewingpodcast thank you so much. I actually just applied to American Patrols this past weekend!
No hablo English!
Wow I was like “just a normal video” until I saw trucks on the actual opposite lane
haha same!
How does he know where he's going....
I don't think he does...
I would have been under the gas pedal if that happened to me....this guy is cooooolllll
This job will be replaced with drones soon
How soon?
@@Underthewingpodcast it can already be done with drones, I've got planes I could do a survey with right now. it's a matter of some company getting the approvals and paving the way. Thats why people think the FAA brought in all the drone rules, so they could commandeer the airspace for commercial use like surveys and deliveries etc. you know the business, get a plane and put iNAV on it and start your own drone patrol business.
@@FourthWayRanchHow would that work tho? These planes fly survey routes upwards of 800 miles a day? What drone can do that?
The logistics, cost and regulations are prohibitive. Drone guys have been claiming that for decades.
@@dh5516 drones can hover and move very close for real time viewing too. Just a matter of time
I just applied here, so hoping to get hired, been looking for a pilot job for weeks
Good luck!
Did you get it?
@@yamkaw346 no I didn’t, I became a flight instructor instead
@@HoustonGamerTVHGTV currently thinking of doing pipeline patrol, what made you become a flight instructor instead?
@@TurtleForDays because there’s very very limited amount of low pilot jobs nowadays and there’s a whole lot more cfi jobs due to there being a cfi shortage. Honestly getting a cfi rating is a whole lot easier than looking for a low time pilot job for me in that case.
Superr-well ,
Thank you! Cheers!
How was the housing and would they allow a cat? Thanks
Housing at the time was nice, not sure about pets.
Were you solo or did you fly with a right seater?
Solo
For this video I filmed a friend flying his route
Okay. I was just curious how they did it there. I’ve seen some operations use two pilots on a route.
Are you working for an airline now ?
How many hours do you flight on average per month?
When I was there 100hrs plus a month but I'm not sure now days.
I enjoyed the 📹
thanks for posting this. I have a pitbike and I was wondering how the trails looked at this place. Looks fun!
For WI they are pretty technical and a lot of fun for sure!
Love it

That 350 seems like it behaves well in the tight stuff I just picked up a 22 300xcw tip can’t wait to get out there 😎
Ya it is def a nice compromise between the agility of a 250 and the power of a 450. So far I've been happy with it. Congrats on the new bike!
I was wondering, I know some of these flights exceed 8 hours, what do you do when you gotta take a leak?
Stop at a nearby airport along the route for a fuel and restroom stop.
@@Underthewingpodcast i was curious bc ik stopping adds a lot of time but I figured
I always carried around an apple juice bottle. It gets very hot in the cockpit especially in the summer so you have to stay hydrated.
Lean to pee in a pop bottle, they can handle the pressure changes,
@@FourthWayRanch There isn't a whole lot of pressure changes between the ground and 250 feet AGL.
And was back out night riding 5hrs later🤣🤣
😧 ouch!!
Hi I’ve spoken to the owner, what’s the deal with the 1 year commitment contract? How much does it cost to get out.
It’s under different ownership since I worked there so I don’t know those answers. I would ask them.
Nice video! Looking into this job right now. How many hours did you leave with after you contract?
It is under new ownership now but when I was there, we would avg 100hrs a month easily.

Music ruined it
Try muting it next time
@@Underthewingpodcast are you still pipeline flying? How many hours do you have now? I see you've been to glacier national. Me too. Me and somebody's in the Air Force rode bikes from Billings to glacier national. I was riding a ZX7 at the time. See you like bikes too. Now I'm down to a drz400sm.
No longer flying pipeline. Sounds like a cool trip you took.
@@Underthewingpodcast one of the best trips I ever had in my life. Was the first time I ever saw a moose. I'm from the East, so I've never seen anything like that. I feel pretty helpless as that thing crossed in front of me about 20 ft away. Road going to the Sun was a trip of a lifetime. Good luck with your flying. Hope you got you a twin turbine gig somewhere.
I agree. If you can call that stupid noise music.
Applied but don't have 400-500 hours yet, how many hours were you hired at? Did you like the job? Did you live at their housing?
I was hired on with around 750hrs but it was for a Chief Pilot position. I really enjoyed the job and lived in the airport housing as well. It is under new ownership now so things may have changed.
@@Underthewingpodcast Ok thanks for the info. I plan on applying once I get more hours, was the housing alright? You got your own room right?
@@Underthewingpodcast What is starting pay for the pilots? 23 or 25?

Did you get hired? How is it?
Good ole Skywest airport. Home of the 5,000 foot long sidewalk.
Love the vids! Saw your most recent one working pipeline in Texas. How many hours are required for that?
The company I was with required around 400hrs to apply as a line pilot. I have seen other companies require as much as 1000 to 1500hrs. It usually depends on what their insurance will allow.
Awesome!!
Great video Rache, all that's missing is my penguin!
