I Loooove Tiffany!!! Nice podcast. I didn’t recognize alcoholism in myself for many years. Around the time I was spiraling out of control, I came clean to some friends and one in particular encouraged me to, “Quit right now. You’re going to have to do it someday so why not today? You are worth it.” Those friends as well as coming into the zoom rooms showed me the truth about my own drinking. I finally had my last drink on October 31, 2021. I can never repay those who took the time to help me. Thanks for this!

I think Tiffany has always been a true version of herself. She no longer needs to be that self anymore because circumstances have changed. Some people have humor as a coping mechanism. Perhaps the coping mechanism is no longer needed. HOWEVER I still think Tiffany is hilarious. She’s just naturally funny. That version of funny may not be needed anymore though.

Another great show. Looking forward to the secant part. You and Karl were talking about using concepts like "Sober October" as ways to start the journey. Those who coitized these things to start getting sober they need to think about the fact that sobriety has to start somewhere .In the day I was a heavy smoker and would try to stop on "smokeless November" Well I never succeeded but I learned a lot about quitting. I eventually did quit. But the knowledge of "quit and fail, "quit and fail" taught me a lot about abstinence and recovery. So when I stopped drinking and went to AA, I knew about failure and listened more closely to their advise. My first tough lessen was "One Day at a Time". My addictive mind was not able to be still. So I look long hikes in the woods on weekends and still did eight to ten meetings a week.

The point was well made that every one has to take there own journey into sobriety. I took a sabbatical from a group I was a member. Seven weeks later my wife left me and when I went to my first AA meeting I was all alone . That meeting became my home group.

Nate thank you for another show. On Friday I will be celebrating 20 years. Every anniversary, I find my self getting emotional ( usually sadness). This year there is a added sense of anger. My sobriety did not involve law breaking. Instead I lost my wife and a community of friends who were vary valuable to me. I made an attempt to address the past with my X and she blocked me on FB. As many of you know it is really hard to find a therapist who specializes in trauma and has an alcohol recovery background. I spent a lot of therapy time describing/ explaining alcoholism and recovery and AA . On top of that try to describe my "Earth Based Spirituality". Fortunately the therapist was not of the curious type . I would offered a bibliography. Looking forward to your next show.

I Had some issues with the higher power when I started in AA. I got some really good advice from a 'Old Time' who said don't worry about a Higher power now. Just get involver and you can work it out later". I followed his advice and I work. I stayed sober and started counting time.

Your metaphor of sobriety being like a muscle is really important. It took me several years to feel comfortable in the rooms . For the first four and a half years I went to a meeting every day. I did not really feel "a part of the program" until several years later Service was vary helpful to move me to feel at home in the the rooms.
