Man I remember going on dates with a lot of guys in Japan when I was 25 after moving there and GIRL, I don’t recommend Japanese guys. It’s super hard to find one that doesn’t go to brothels, doesn’t gamble and doesn’t smoke. Also they’re super childish.

I think its great that you decided to get out and try a date! Bumble can be quite daunting but you went for it! Japanese guys, are pretty much all the way you described your date. The texts feel awkward and thats because they don't know (typically) how to conversate with you properly as a westerner. Usually, short messages that feel curt and not too much digging into who you are but quickly try to set up a date or an in person meet up. In person typically reserved and polite. Going somewhere after dinner is common so something like icecream or the park. The way he chatted you up non-stop after the date is because he felt it was a complete success when you said yes to the camping date. A more appropriate answer would be, let me think about it some more and then we can plan something. This will curb his excitement at an immediate yes. Japanese guys are very light switch oriented IMO. They can be great one moment and then the next red flags all over the place. Watch your back out there! Keep up the hard work~!

i’m a guy, but i also relate. after I finished my bachelor degree in japan, and went back to my home country, i went on a dating frenzy (not that crazy, just 5 dates that year). i felt like i just wanted to know what dating is like. and now i’m just chilling, looking for activities that i could that i find fun. so that’s my experience so far, but i hope you get great experience in dating life.

I went on my first ever date at 34 lol. Now 4 months later I've been on 15 of them. It gets easy, I promise. Sure there's been a few not very pleasant experiences, but overall it's just fun meeting new people and learning more about life through them.

I believe that the proper name is “mishin-meh rohru poli bukuro”. My knapsack is practically worn out from all of the times that I’ve had to wash it 😅. PS. Mikan that have green left in their skins are not fully ripe, and will be more tart (some people like that). The fully orange ones will taste sweeter and more full-bodied.
