CPGFA - Cairns Professional Gamefishing Assoc
Австралия
Добавлен 14 ноя 2019
The CPGFA has moved into the new millenium with the continued aim of representing the professional game fishing charter operator and the people who work within the industry.
This representation goes much further than just the Cairns region, with members right down the east coast of Australia. Lobbying to government and industry, on behalf of those members will continue as a matter of importance.
With the CPGFA’s “Code of Practice” the association’s members have lead the way in the tourism industry in both conduct and safety.
The very important ongoing research into the fishery is of high priority and CPGFA will continue it’s support into the future.

Cairns Interview Series: Capt. Ross Finlayson

By popular request, the full interview with Ross. As the interview starts out with my comment, forget about the recording, our conversation does jump around a bit. But it was a good catch up and reminiscing over the video (which is the same video on loop above and below) from some pretty incredible fishing in 2014. The footage abruptly ends due to his computer running out of battery but maybe t...

How does this video only have 2.2k likes?!?!
so majestic . such beautifull creatures of the world
Great job on this!!! I really enjoyed it. I'm so glad to hear the captains and mates and all involved in the GBR/Cairns Black marlin fishery were able to join together and save this incredible and unique fishing place like no other on the planet, from ill informed "green" conservatonists! While many of these groups have good intentions, they often don't understand everything. Of course, the fisherman who've been involved in this awesome fishery, from the pioneers to present day, are the best people to insure that it's managed properly and since it's so remote, they're the only ones out there, at least regularly during the annual few months that the magnificent big Black marlin return to this part of the GBR. So, making sure the area is kept pristine and safe is in thier best interest!! Really stoked for all of them!! I've been a full time small boat commercial fisherman in Hawaii where I was born and raised in 1960, and have lived in kona and fished all over the big island for 47+ years! I love taking friends out sport fishing too, and have been catch mostly Blue Marlin for so very long. I started releasing all of my big donkeys after catching and keeping so many over the decades, as the bug ones are all females, and I just want these majestic fish to go in breeding and being the supreme predator fish of the oceans!! I grew up with family and friends who are world famous captains, fishing out of kona, and there's always been a strong connection between the kona fleet and the guys on the GBR! So much has changed, as it looks like you guys down under are using mono leader instead of wire now, as well as circle hooks to try to have the fish survive after being released!! Always been amazed the GBR and the guys who fish there have so much respect from me!! I love huge marlin and have been in awe of these awesome fish all my life!!! Aloha from beautiful Hawaii D.L
my favorite!
Bob and Dolly Dyer did a huge amount of advertising of the Black Marlin fishing in Cairns, they also attracted a lot of fellow Americans to come and fish also . He was always talking it up on yheir TV show Pick a Box.
Well done boys, keep it coming 👏 👍
Love rewatching this.
13:13 - damn...that fish looks huge...
Green tyranny I hate it.
Brings a tear to your fuckin' eye. I've dreamed about this place since I was a little boy catching perch and walleye on Lake Erie and snapper and grouper in Florida. I've always wanted to move there and do that. Someday.
Very good
What an egocentric making. Some very disappointing people.
The best black marlin fishing in the world with an Idaho rock soundtrack🔥
J’aime bien i’m from New caledonia🇳🇨

Great video, thanks for taking the time to share the stories 🤙🏽
magnifique Premier Marlin SEA FISHING Que je Vois Comme ça 👍👍Bravo
May not be related but, I call that family fishing. Great job captain, crew and congratulations mate on your big catch.
And that's exactly how it's done! Great job captain and crew.
Very impressed film !!!
My Dream .
Fantastic video! Well produced, excellent high quality footage. I wish we could make a video half as good for the giant blue marlin in the Galapagos Islands.
Thank you for posting this film. I have had dreams about being hooked up to a big black that stands up at the stern, and I'm looking up at it. This was someday going to be my honeymoon. The closest I've come is hooking tarpon in my kayak. It's a thrill I can't describe. Something about sportfishing... Mahalo to the keepers of the Great Barrier Reef fishery.
Wonderful video! Out of all billfishing locations around the world this is still #1 on my list to fish.
You release it? Don’t eat them? Marlins are very delicious both raw or grilled. I think Marlins are easy to eat for American people who doesn’t eat much fish for the taste witch is not so fishy. By the way I’m from Japan so we love seafood like crazy
Great footage mates❣️
What a monster, judging by her bill I reckon that the fish caught on Ultimate Lady that got sharked would have come very very close if not 1500lb.
Quality video as always.
Wow wow wow wow just insane everything from start to finish. Please make subtitles in spanish I have a ton of people to educate here in Baja and this video shows why and how mantaining a fishery goes big way instead of 'killing The big catch' thanks for this masterpiece
Fantastic video! True professionals, great to see conservation for future generations and game management. Brilliant
As an Australian sad that most Australians don't now How amazing this country is I been lucky to spend a couple a season working on barrier reefs as comercel fhising industry yes I was working up they in late 90s early 2000 yess it was devastating one started to lock up fhising industry people lost a lot of jobs great doco gave inspiration to back up their for one more trip before I get to old .
Deep sea fishing is over rated. I find it more entertaining to play tug with my dog and i can do it everyday
Keep backing down for those rich fatboys to get that ego stroked !
Well done lads. An awesome documentary/video. 👌🏻👏🏻
WOW
Great video! During the 90s I caught 5 granders, 2 weighed the rest released, and I love fishing the barrier reef. I will always remember the marlin fishing, popper fishing, the swimming(snorkeling), the motherships, seaplane rides, and the odd party on the reef hosted on one of the motherships.
Thank you Richie Obach for commentating this. All my love from Baby Fox
Yes yes yes
Is the most beatifool responsable fishing video I ever see
Spettacolo gli Australiani sono troppo avanti. Ogni pescatore dovrebbe invecchiare cosi´.
I got a 950lb of the ribbons with captain sparro best moment of my life
Im just wondering. What about the circle hooks? Is it the quality that the rust can melt it off in a short period of time
I know for a fact even drug lords had a go at black marlin fishing in the old days...
Great great video guy’s !!!!
I'm hoping one day to go up to Cairns and try and catch one
Had “Goose-Pimples” watching these Superb Videos of the most beautiful of Marlin Species, making their fantastic Ballet-Jumps in their fight for survival. Fantastic Job for all the contributors in putting together “THE EDGE” production, and would like to give a Bear Hug to Capt.Laurie Wright, Capt. Ross Finlayson, Capt. Hayden Bell(my Hero in the Catch & Release of an Est. by Capt Haydon and Capt . Ross to have been 1,100+ lbs). May Hat OFF for all to contributors in putting this Video together in a very Professional manner🙏👌
